The entire thing has been concocted by WTs, Mayer & co.

The Roosters and Dogs have never been interested, this is all a scheme to generate publicity and a good news story to generate memberships and TPAs

Mayer has been in marketing previously

Club drip-fed tidbits once or twice 10 days ago has lead to a media frenzy surrounding this, it just naturally snowballed from there

They have already agreed to terms, WTs will announce the re-signing in the week leading up to the Rd 5 Sunday arvo Leichhardt game (an old Humpty ploy - release good news during weeks leading to LO games)…

He will feature heavily in membership promos immediately after the announcement, memberships will double, the team keeps winning hopefiully , everyones happy

Guys this saga is not finished with yet ..we haven't had the secret meeting that everybody knows about or the picture of the same!

Well said Palms. The Roosters were sure things to sign him and now come out and say they haven't even considered him much less spoken to him.

There so much sensationalist bull$hit in the media its not funny. Which club exactly is offering him this huge wad of cash? Probably someone like Parra or Canberra. Not the most attractive teams out there but they could both use a fullback and are likely to have some cash, and neither are likely to win the comp any time soon.

Technically they may offer him more money (it won't be the Dogs or Roosters who are) but he's likely to be happy to stay with his mates, where he has good combinations which will only get better and in turn make him look like an even better player.

Raiders offered Milford almost a million a year to stay. And people complain about Teddy on 500k?

Never heard of that Hayne character.

Hayne has killed it in a number of positions in the backline, and so i could see them shifting him to the centres if they could get Teddy. They aren't in much of a position to be picky when it comes to quality.

Do you think the article by Rothfield stating on "good authority" that Teddy will sign with the Roosters only for him to stay with us is something the league fan has to deal with?

Sounds like a pretty easy job.

Cheeky Fiver says this thread ends up longer than the "Lote Tuqiri thread" and "Lets have some 3 word fun" multi.

All it takes is one injury to become yesterdays hero. Remember back when Lawrence was negotiating his last contract, he was on track to be the best centre in the game, now come his next contract he'll be lucky to get half what he's on now. Tedesco needs to get in while the goings good cos one injury and people will go cold on him.

Isn't the mole the one that's less trustworthy than Rothfield?

The Mole is quite often wrong, he was the one who tweeted earlier that Teddy was going to the Roosters to begin with, but sometimes he is spot on the money as well…

The Mole's calls are rocks & diamonds pretty much.... I remember him calling Inglis to Souths very early on and Tomkins to Warriors before anyone else, but he has screwed up a couple as well, like Smith to Broncos.

I still think it's an impossibility to be more F.O.S than Phil Rothfield though  , that bloke just plain lies.

Some people here need to take up a new hobby like watching 'Days of Our Lives' or scanning YouTube clips until 5am conspiracy theories of the world. You can not force a player to sign, if Tedesco wants more money then no one can stop him from taking it. Someone mentioned it earlier but there's no way he would of signed last year. The kid had a world cup to participate in and was coming off his first season of first grade. It would of been gross negligence from Teddys manager on behalf of his client had he signed. Mayer is not going to hold a gun to his head and say I won't pull if you sign with us.

From quotes coming from Tedesco (which let's face it are the only ones I know aren't made up) there's is a very good chance he will sign on. He wants to be a one club player and after just one season, switching to another team is not going to achieve that. The Roosters have said they haven't even talked to him.

Before everyone goes off half-cooked (just like Farah, Woods et al) read the facts, and stop being such babies. It's a professional sport which he is setting his life up from. It's not a game of schoolyard rugby where he's choosing to be on Timmys team instead of little Johnnies. My advice is to wait until the contract has been settled. You might just be suprised, and will save yourselves hours of stupidity of something you can't control. All Mayer can do is offer him the best contract th Tigers can put on the table. The rest is up to Tedesco.

BREATHE!

Well said mate well said.

I have a funny feeling like someone said in this thread a few pages back that the signing will be announced next week leading up to the Manly game.

People like to compare rugby league to business and the private sector. That's fair enough. In the private sector, a business can expect to retain an employee for less than what is offered by rival companies. It's pretty much the norm that if you can expect a pay increase to jump ship. Very few companies will match the offer of a rival company. I have no problem with us refusing to match offers of other clubs. We should be paying what we think Tedesco is worth to us. If there is more on offer elsewhere and he wants to take it, so be it.

Happy Tiger, you can harp on about what you've been told. It's fair to draw an inference your source is very close to Tedesco, if not Tedesco himself. If so, it's only one side of the story. Unless you tell us the hard figures of what he has been offered and what he thinks he is worth/what other clubs are offering we have no grounds on which to assess your claims. Are we supposed to take you on your word that the Tigers have put forward an insulting offer? How do we know it's not reasonable and Tedesco/yourself view it as a lowball offer?

How much Teddy was offered wasn't discussed and how much he was after wasn't discussed

I would never ask someone how much they earn , that's sacred as far as I'm concerned and I don't make judgements based on people's earnings in my own life

I have tried to help answer some questions in this thread , something I thought some would appreciate

Looks like I was wrong , that's cool

Its all good mate…

There was crap flying all over the shop, the craziest game of chinese whispers ever...

Just heard through the grapevine that we're making a play for Shannon McDonnell who is out of favour with Hull. Mayer back up plan?

Just kidding.

That's a little bit sanctimonious.

I don't think you've directly answered any questions at all. You've made insinuations and invited people to draw inferences from these insinuations. I believe earlier in the thread you said something along the lines of "I'm glad people are starting to get what is happening now". Perhaps if you'd shown some candour and stated what you knew we would have got there a lot more quickly.

At the end of the day you are hearing one side of the story. You don't know how much Tedesco is being offered. You don't know how much other clubs are offering. You don't know the club's financial state or its cap space. How are you in a position to be as critical of the club's administration as you have been in this thread?
