Many years ago when Qld didn't have pokies machines the QRL Boss Ron MacAuliffe designed a plan to keep the Lewis's ,Miles ,Dowlings ,Conescu's playing in Qld
So he made a rule as long as the QRL matched any offer the Sydney clubs put forward the players would have to stay in Qld
So firstly I propose that any club that has a junior that is being poached by a rival club only has to match the offer for that player to resign and stay at the club 9 aslong as bopth the club and player are happy to remain together )and the club must get the last chance to match the offer
If they can't match the offer the club signing that player would have to pay for the training (you could put it ) of that player at 5% of the contract fee per season
So if Tedesco was stolen by the Bulldogs ,and he was at the Tigers for 4 seasons , they would have to pay an added 20% (non cap money) to the TIGERS as compensation and this money was not used for contracting new players (Could be used for upgrading facilities , paying debts etc )
Eventually clubs would to a degree end up on the same footing financially
Doesn't solve all the problems , but would make clubs think twice about signing every player with an ounce of talent
Just an idea
I still think the ideal situation for the Tigers is to become smarter operators and compete better with other clubs with well thought out TPA's
And before someone says that clubs aren't can't do this , we all know they are lets not kid ourselves

As much as i'm saddened to see him get injured, i think this latest injury will only help him stay at the Tigers. With a bit of a rep for getting injured i can't see other clubs throwing heaps of cash at him just yet. Since he's been an NRL squad member he's missed more games than he's played.
Having 6 weeks out will put his price down a tad if anything as clubs become more sceptical. Brett Stewart gets injured a bit but Manly puts up with him. Teddy is the same for us, he wants to stay and the other offers on the table (if there actually were any) may diminish.
It's actually the best timing (for WT) for him to get injured contract wise.

Wests Tigers have offered star fullback James Tedesco a lucrative four-year deal that they hope will keep the poachers at bay.
Fairfax Media can reveal the joint-venture club provided Tedesco's management with a revised offer on Tuesday to ward off interest from rivals, most notably Canterbury.
Tedesco is off contract at the end of the year and is one of the hottest prospects on the open market. The City Origin representative has indicated his preference to stay put but is leaving negotiations to manager Sam Ayoub, who also represents fellow off-contract Tigers backs David Nofoaluma and Marika Koroibete. The Tigers would like to retain them all, as well as exercise an option on Curtis Sironen.
However, Tedesco is the top priority, with the club upping the ante with a revised offer.
Tigers chief executive Grant Mayer didn't want to provide a running commentary on negotiations and was reluctant to comment.
"All I'll say is we've had ongoing discussions and we're hopeful," Mayer said.
"Negotiations with players are confidential and will remain so until we have resolution. But we are hopeful of retaining James going forward."
The Bulldogs continue to search for a marquee replacement for Ben Barba and it's understood they have tabled an offer for Peta Hiku.
The Manly custodian has done a good job standing in for the injured Brett Stewart and has links to coach Des Hasler and recruitment guru Noel Cleal from their time at Brookvale. However, the Sea Eagles are keen to retain him and are confident of doing so.
Tedesco is another option the Bulldogs are considering and it remains to be seen if the Tigers' latest offer will be enough to keep them at bay. Insiders are hopeful the local junior could put pen to paper at the Tigers as soon as next week.
There were fears Tedesco may have lost some of his speed after suffering serious knee injuries. However, those concerns have been allayed with some dazzling performances this year, where the 21-year-old has stamped himself as one of the NRL's genuine speedsters.
His combination with rookie halfback Luke Brooks has been particularly dangerous and Tedesco will get a chance to further enhance his credentials when he marks up on Warriors counterpart Sam Tomkins at Westpac Stadium on Saturday.
Tedesco has been a target in every sense of the word this year. He was brilliant against South Sydney, who appeared to target him for rough treatment last Friday night.
"I suppose they see him as a danger and sometimes it is an accident and sometimes it is not," Tigers coach Mick Potter said after the match. "The circumstances are all different and they all need to be judged on their merits but he is a good player and people are trying to stop him. You would like them to do it legitimately.
"I don't think he is being targeted to be head-highed, I think people are just having trouble getting hold of him at times. He was all right from the knocks he took but it is a concerning trend and it is not something I'd like to see happen again."

Paragraphs make that thing a whole of a hell lot easier to read.
It doesn't seem that the above document is up to date as it makes the following statement "Tedesco will get a chance to further enhance his credentials when he marks up on Warriors counterpart Sam Tomkins at Westpac Stadium on Saturday". That match at Westpac stadium occurred 10 days ago.

Just can't see the Doggies willing to part with their cash on him now to be honest, it could still happen obviously, but whoever is making the decisions over there would have to be looking at his injuries very closely.

Just remember Tigerdave that the dogs are trying to real in the stewart brothers. If all goes well with that then they will drop out of the race for teddy`s signature.

So a journo from RLW has tweeted that the WT are to announce a key re-signing at a press conference tomorrow.
I was thinking it must be Jy Hitchcox, but then there's always a chance it could be Teddy taking what's on the table before he gets injured again!

Rowe is a poor man's Moltzen. Which is useless. Nof can replace Tedesco if worst comes to worst, Nof is an animal who needs to touch the ball more.
