Benji rific you ever stop and think Teddy may have resisted earlier offers?

Of course you didnt

Actually I did, and a good CEO would make an offer he couldn't resist before, rather than wait till he's killing it in the competition and pay overs for him. You're better off paying overs at the start of the year and not letting anyone get near him, than have this debacle playing out where we could lose one of your best prospects.

A good CEO won't just throw the cheque book to a single player at the expense of the team. We've done a great job so far in keeping our young talent, infact you could say we've done an outstanding job in that area over the last 12 months.

But we are still bound by the cap, if indeed we lose Tedesco because another team can offer more than we can, thats hardly a hanging offense for the CEO. You can't give what you don't have.

The Raiders have supposedly offered $250,000-$300,000 more than the Tigers?

There's no way we should be forking out that sort of money on top of what we've already offered. Hope those figures are wrong.

The Raiders are nuts quite frankly if that's true, good player? most certainly, would he be a good fit for them though? It's a lot of money to gamble on to find out.

I think Andrew Johns on triple M said he'd signed with the raiders, I saw someone ask Mayer on twitter,I did not see the original tweet or hear the radio.
Anyone hear or see this?

Teddy also needs to think of the lost income from state of origin. 30 thousand per game. No chance at canberra in a beaten team. Plus match payments for winning. He may be behind in signing for the raiders. Then add ricky stuart the guy who has murdered players and former clubs . I cant believe tedy is so short cited. Probably explains why I can see pass only 200 thousand. The most money boys is not always tne best offer

Ricky Stuart picks the SOO team…so him being his coach at Canberra will work in his favour.
One minute you say 200 k is peanuts then you talk about lost income at 30 k
Canberra have made the semi's 8 out of the last 14 years 5 more times than the Wests Tigers

That was 2 years ago,Stuart thank god has nothing to do with it.

Wrong

Evening All

Just reported on Fox Sports (by Steve Hart).

James Tedesco hasn't signed with the Raiders. The Tigers have apparently offered a 4 year deal so they can spread the outlay. James' management wants a 3 year deal. The amount that the Tigers are offering over 4 years is apparently the same as the Raiders are offering over 3 years,

A decision is expected by midday on Monday.

Thanks for that RR: a good factual post in an increasingly agonising thread.
Even though the money is the same over 4 and 3 years, I personally think I'd rather take the tigers over Canberra, even without bias.
Stuart is the worst coach and seems like a tool as well. Furthermore the tigers have a great coach and an extremely bright future, and he would be a big part of it.

My feelings on the whole saga are that he'd be mad to go to Canberra, but if he does then so be it.

I'm confident that he will do the right thing and sign with us for the following reasons.

1\. We have tabled a substantial offer (in Potters words)
2\. We developed him and have looked after him
3\. He apparently comes from a good family who should be telling him that you never make a decision based purely on $$$….follow your heart son (see Moneyball)
4\. He doesn't need the pressure of being the big money recruit at this stage of his career
5\. He has heaps of good mates at WT
6\. He knows and understands the set-up at WT (better the devil you know)
7\. Canberra sux, as does the coach
8\. I suspect the whole Canberra thing is about Ayoub wanting to mend bridges and showing he can influence players to consider offers from them

But money does talk and if he leaves good luck but he is probably not the sort of person that you would be wanting to build a club around (look at Idris has gone backwards ever since he left the dogs) ie. holds you to ransom every contract

I don't buy that sorry. Astute player managers will tell their clients to test the waters when it is likely they can earn themselves a nice upgrade, regardless of how much their current club may want them. Farah did it a few years ago with the Titans, Woods was linked to a big money play from Manly and Tedesco is certainly doing this at the moment. I think we'll keep him, always have, but he's trying to see how much he can earn rather than signing a piece of paper offered by the first available club.

How bad is canberra when milford wont stay for 1 million a season. One millon boys and girls. Brisbane signed him for significantly less. More than 300 thousan a season less. They even relocated his family to canberra at there expense. What does milford know aboutbthis club to reject 1 million bucks. Then again teddy wouldplay for the afghanistan toads for 1 million bucks a season by reports

From what I know his family is pretty well off as well, so money shouldn't be a major factor - however respect might play a part.

Did anyone just see fox sports news , they are reporting that the Raiders are offering Teddy $300,000 more per season , if there is any truth to it he would be silly to knock that back nearly $1million more over 3 years .
That's why all the delay Raiders said to Teddy a while back don't sign till we get a decision from Milford , that is what I reckon .
I reckon he is gone if what they are reporting is true

I say give tedesco until the end of this week to decide … He's had long enough ! If he goes use the money to buy a decent 5/8 . Anasta is crap & I think Austin doesn't have what it takes as a 5/8 for us .

We gave Brasher that ultimatum and we know how that turned out…. We came near the bottom of the ladder for the next 5 + years

I know Rowe isn't the same calibre as teddy but he has improved out of sight and I'm happy to persist if teddy decides to want more that we can afford under our cap…. As has been said before, handful of FG games doesn't automatically mean your worth a packet....
