OFFICIAL Terrell May #296

Most common sense statement I have seen. Our forward pack is week this bloke has carried for 2 years playing at a min 20 minutes more then every other prop in the comp including Payne Hass.

People ragging on him literally have no idea the toll this must be taking on him and his career. I'm surprised he is happy to stay tbh

Dude is elite on both ends of field just has been asked to carry a team for to long each and every week

It was also less then 3 months ago when every body that had a clu outside of Daley was like this dude is unbelievable.

He is cooked and it's totally not his fault it's benjis
Well that's so obvious to us but these in charge have never acknowledged it.
The bloke was a benchie at Roosters and with no further preparation, we have expected him to play 80 minutes a week. Did exactly the same thing with Api.

I heard somewhere that Samuela wants to play prop. Not sure how accurate that is. Might be the classic case of strengthening one position by weakening another though if we went down this road.
I love the idea.
Then have KPP and Roberts on our edge.
Can use Twal at lock or have douhei there and push twal into the prop rotation.
Pure fantasy stuff, but who knows. We have some quality cattle, just not playing them right (in my opinion)

That's why Benji and his coaches need a mentor, none of them seem to be able to see the forest for the trees.

Terrell starting to cop alot of the same crap IPap did when he was here .The workload is unsustainable and that impacts performance.Good clubs strengthen teams they don't pile on players who can't do it all
I’m starting to detest our fan base , the way they turn on our best players, the whole hearted ones when they have an average game is disgusting. They want players to stay and be loyal but show them no loyalty whatsoever.. pathetic Terell has carried this pack on his shoulders since he got here ,, he needs help, not a bagging from a bunch of trolls

I feel a bit bad for Terrell. He was playing very well and hitting the line hard while he was playing around 60 minutes earlier in the season until we lost Samuela and Royce by Rd14 and Benji decided to go full Sheenius and start playing Sione on the edge rather than just putting Sukkar there and letting May get a solid rest. Even despite the injuries, we could've had a prop rotation of May, Pole, Sione and Bunty. I acknowledge it got a bit trickier when KPP went down a few weeks later.

Since that has gone down, he's gone from playing around 60 minutes per game to 70+ minutes per game (including multiple 80 minute games) and it's no coincidence he's gone down hill since then. He definitely wasn't leaking tries like this and moving so slow in the first half of the season.

The expectations on individuals that sustain the level of work is way off especially when our lack of depth requires them to play longer minutes.

We have had terrible run of injuries and our bye schedule has not helped give the players a breather given the first round was useless.
We look cooked and the resolving that with the resources available would challenge anyone
.
When I see a club like the Broncos lose 8 in a row with the amount of talent in that club - instant reality check

That's an inherent part of the problem. No middle should be playing 80mins nor should most hookers, especially if they are over 30 because, unlike the start of the season they are getting fatigued, especially now with the 6 again rule.

With Terrell it's his play the ball speed, as he is playing long minutes with out a spell as well as the extra defence he's having to do as the team copped injuries & suspensions and had weaker/less experienced defenders replacing them, often out of position.
By late in the 1st half & into the 2nd half of games his sloth like play the balls slow down any moment & allow the defence to set up to rush the next ball receiver. His tackling can drop off badly as well.

Likewise Api playing such long minutes is fatiguing him to the point his dummy half runs become fewer & /or less effective. He starts falling off tackles & like we saw last week make uncharacteristic handling errors.

At the start of the season the boys were fresh & injury free. They played with confidence, their wins due mainly to their attack (as they did get some big points put on them) though their defence proved to be a big improvement. They dominated possession, dominated field position, they had one of the highest completion rates, were sitting 3rd, with 2 losses that SHOULD have been wins.

So what happened?

When I look back the wheels started falling off after Api's 3 week suspension for some reason, worsened with injuries & was just topped off by Luai's decision to cut short his tenure. But most of all, they all look fatigued, they just aren't getting fast play the balls, interchange passing or throwing offloads like they were. Everything they do attack wise is slow & predictable. They aren't getting away passes to unmarked team mates (especially Adam Doueihi, though Bula can be a bit like that too) but also they ARE throwing unnecessary stupid passes early in the tackle count. Fatigue is also affecting their ability to create something in attack & defensive reads.

Why are they fatigued?

They aren't exactly know as fast starters, but they've been looking so gassed by the 20min mark in recent months, slow, lacking in any urgency.

It's nothing like how fresh they looked compared to their opponents for the first 8 or 9 rounds with even the commentators commenting on their fitness levels. They are getting fatigued so early in games allowing the opposition in 2 or 3 times. Even if the boys managed to pull 1 or 2 back they are shot by the 60th minute killing any chance of a come back, how many times have we seen that in recent games?

There has to be an answer to this, I don't believe the Luai drama plays a huge factor in their form slump, injuries though.are another matter & have hurt bad, real bad.
Attitude?
Well player form has dropped since all the re signings injuries playing a part in that form slump with players playing injured, affecting their confidence in both attack & defence.

But does all that really explain what is going on? Why the constant noticeable early fatigue in ALL the boys?

He rarely meets the opposing line front anymore. He tends to back into the line looking for an offload by that negates his momentum.

He came on in his second stint last night and looked so much more impactful as he got a few PCMs. I think shorter minutes, faster play the balls, good contact and PCMs will make him more effective.

The passion and Heart went out of the club 6-7 weeks ago and Benji does not have a answer for it and it shows.

And that's the coach's job to give him some help.
I hate being a negative nellie but it's hard not to criticize what's being dished up at the moment.
C'mon Benji, the pack was out muscled and our backs are pedestrian.
A bit of room to move would help.
There is absolutely NO X-factor or speed in the whole team.
Seasons over, time to plan for next year.
While Sukkar and Seyfarth are getting picked we are never going to progress---we need more than hard work/trainers.

Sukkar hasn’t played the last two weeks

He was so piss weak last night.
We were totally outmuscled ( again) by the Dogs last night. They knew they had nothing to fear and belittled us. Don’t know what Skelton did at the Dogs but he was targeted and made to look like a teddy bear, our forwards were soft.
I’m just trying to remember if way back when our forwards weren’t so soft or weak ( and I mean Blocker, Benny, Helmsley, Keefy, McGuire, Junior etc), yes real Tigers, not the paper Tigers we’ve had for years.
Do you think Benji is capable of presenting guys like that ? If Benji stays as the coach he should be training them to just play Benjiball, and do it really well.
At least focus on what you’re good at !

I detest the fans who constantly make excuses for mediocrity. Effort is the bare minimum that should be expected in professional sport and it's not something players should be lauded for, but most of our fanbase are happy clappers so can't say I'm surprised. Same fans who get excited when we win two games, then make excuses when we inevitably lose seven straight.

Its pretty obvious his form has fallen off a cliff since the Luai rubbish, but he's far from alone there.

I don't think he's the most mentally strong bloke things obviously take their toll on him more than others.

Batman has a lot to answer for, all the words he had for the Galvin situation and he blows up the season arguably worse considering our red hot start. I'm really starting to detest Luai I wish we'd just send him to KOE he does nothing anyway.

Tried heaps hard. Didn't make origin.
Clearly effected him.

Now hes playing ordinary and getting roasted by fans.

Low confidence at the moment I'd say.
Team is struggling across the park.

Yes, injuries
Yes, Luai sold out his team mates

A lot of the players are in the same boat and simply not turning up.

Skelton is hard to watch.
