It's quite noticeable the difference between the playing group both on and off the field. I think we're in for a big year the players are invested in the club succeeding and have bought into Benji's vision. Like Richo said, we'll be more then competitive this season.

Taylan May has his court date on March 10th.
If he is found guilty of any if the 6 charges....

What does that mean for his future?
He's already sat out a year.
Is his career over?

With what we saw with Ezra recently, could something similar occur ? Time served, a fine and mandatory training, community work, etc.?

The NRL is big on second chances but the charges brought forward and the bigger concern is the character of the person.

Thoughts?

I've never had any experience with the criminal justice system until this month. My 38 year-old son was brought up on 5 charges related to a marital separation. He had never been in a court before. The charges didn't involve DV but were brought by a vindictive wife who set out to create as much harm as she could. The irony was that it was her cheating that broke up the marriage and it was his efforts to save the marriage that led to the charges.
Five charges quickly became two after the solicitor negotiated with the police prosecution. He pleaded guilty to the two charges because technically he was guilty but was pleading extenuating circumstances. When he appeared before the judge she couldn't believe the charges had got this far and was scathing of the way they were brought to court. She said she reluctantly had to find him guilty because that was his plea but no penalty was imposed and no conviction was recorded.
My point in raising this is just to say that you can't assess how these things will turn out. May's charges may well disappear when put under pressure by the defence.

The NRL has to be careful here.
Violence against women is a huge issue in this country and rightly so.
Whilst we must be aware of the havoc that the "me too" movement caused in convicting innocent men, Taylan will have his day in court and receive the chance to clear his name. Hopefully the verdict is respected either way.
If what he did was bad, he is done.
 
Drug driving causing harm is just as bad as domestic violence imo.

Sorry to hear that mate but why was he trying to fix things after she cheated? Once a cheater always a cheater. It's so important who you choose to marry.

I know he has done some dumb things but time served should count and unlike others I would like to see him given a chance with us just put a clause in his contract to make sure he knows he is gone if he plays up

Who knows, could all be over on the day or could drag on and on for a long time.

Who knows what the other 5 matters are, could be anything from assaulting police to who knows what they are, may only be spelt out on the day, like I said, it could drag on for an extended period and nothing to say that it will be decided on the day.

The one thing he has going for him is that at this stage it is in the Local Court because the last thing you want is to find yourself in the District Court.

Don't count on him being at the Wests Tigers on the 11th March.

The other thing is we all thought he married brilliantly. They were married for 13 years and we all thought she walked on water. If you'd ask me to name someone with the utmost integrity, honesty and fidelity it would have been her. To top it off she teaches kindergarten at a Catholic primary school.

It's always horrible when kids are involved. He is better off without her. Just goes to show it's not always as it seems, you think you know someone, but they turn out to be a different person.

You're right. The family used to joke that she played me like a fiddle. In my eyes she could do no wrong. The family was right and I was very wrong and feel very stupid.
