OFFICIAL Terrell May #296

Would like it if he got some speed / agility training in the off season . Came back with less of bouncing about in a pinball machine in 26. He's got the size ,
He generally only runs the ball at half pace and I assume that is to pace himself to try and get through playing close to 80mins each game.
Earlier in the season he was carrying the ball with more venom and his hits ups looked to be somewhere around three quarter pace which is acceptable and created impact including one clean line break that I recall.
So it’s definately an attitude thing, he can choose tj carry the ball at half pace and have very minimal impact, or carry the ball at three quarter to full pace and have a much bigger impact.
I understand that hardly any props carry the ball kamikaze style at full pace these days aside from kickoff returns, as it greatly increases the chances of injury and dropped balls, so somewhere around three quarter pace is acceptable, but we really don’t want to see the half paced crap.

If we can find two props (that's a big if not many available) move him to lock, after watching his games this season that's where it looks like he's more suited to play.

Props are supposed to give you impact through the middle of the park then interchanged so the next one gives it all he's got, they are not meant to stay on for the majority of the game, intensity has to drop he's good but not superhuman.

Even the benchmark Payne Haas has been taking breaks lately madge has seen that he has more impact over less minutes.

So, if Terrell wants to play prop, he needs to bite the bullet and drop his minutes.

Aside From playing time, what do you see in May that suggests he is better suited to lock?

His willingness to offload, how many times do you see him meet the defense and turn looking for someone to pass to, he does that a lot, sometimes I wish he would just run hard more with mongrel, then he'd be more of the prop that's missing from our pack.

That said he's still a great addition to our team for years to come we are all hoping.

I don't see Terell as a 13, his passes are not very crisp and he also does not have a great step to get outside a defender. I think his most impact will be limiting his minutes to maybe 25 - 30 per half and focussing on hitting the line with some venom and offloading the ball when the opportunity is there.

I suggested the move throughout the year, but only if we replaced replace him with a top tier front rower.

He has the workrate similar to the Paul Gallen type #13 role and has similar the ball playing ability... He can play issah yeo pivot role..

Terrell himself also appears to love being a bit of a ball player; Benji likes players playing to their strengths and not coaching their natural ability out of them..

So the move ticks a few boxes..

The problem now is that Douhei has surprised us at #7... It now means that the #13 role is likely where we get Latu into the game (likely off the bench, interchanging with Sione).. so if we moved Terrell there, we take Latu out of play..

Its a tough one... Benji has a few big positional decisions to make going into next season.

He's a good footballer, there's no reason he couldn't run all offseason at lock and pick up the finer points of the position and show he's capable if indeed that's where he wants to play.

Anyhow, Benji has to be convinced he has it in him and moving him there suits the team dynamic.
But if prop's his position from what we've seen he needs to reduce minutes for more impact for the old saying ringing in our ears, team first.
