Bulldogs have offered 750k a season to TPJ. TPJ is said to prefer the Tigers or Dragons over the dogs and informed his manager to ask both clubs to get closer to the dogs offer. During informal discussions a figure of 600k a season was all but agreed, which is why the club has walked away.

This is a bizarre one by the dogs, considering the money they have tied up in some of their other recruits. JAC is signed on for 600k a season rising to 750k if he plays a certain amount of games at fullback, Naden and Allan on 400k+ and Cotric on 500k. Not to mention they're paying 350k of DWZ contract for next season.

They seem to be getting themselves in a bit of mess with the cap going forward. Heard there is a bit of discord over there as not everyone in the recruiting process has been informed of agreements and dont see eye to eye on targets (TPJ & Johnson). Some seem to be of the view to get any talent over there for any price where a others want to target certain positions and be diligent in how they organise their cap for future years and build the team.

Signing TPJ would all but end their hopes of signing B. Smith. They also have a tricky situation where Burton will be available to negotiate from November 2022 and would be due a hefty pay rise.

I guess the question is TPA's ....they might be able to raise a few .......

Yep...the new bosses there (Landry) have more contacts than the Rorters...

Just makes a you wonder what's up with TPJ'. For the club to put a line through him suggests to me it was more than just money that turned us off. There are no secrets in the NRL and with Tallis linked to it - looks like we got spooked.

He would have just had an offer from another club that he'd prefer to play at.

No the Pom was pretty clear, our offer wasn’t high enough and we needed to be $700k to be in the mix, don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Thank you for confirming my point. “ we need to come to an average of $700k, Hartigan said thanks but no thanks.

Problem is, we do it with the wrong players, if we had landed Latrell or JAC, others would follow.
Packer, Reynolds and Mbye won't and haven't attracted other players

I'd reckon Maximus Decimus Meridius's involvement in the club helped as well

I really hope the NRL auditors are looking closely at the Dogs cap management. I know they have quite a few off contract at years end but the sums already committed to incoming players and figures bandied about for others just cant possibly fit into a 30 man squad.

You develop Tuki Simpkins to be our Pangai Jnr.. you develop Tuilagi to be our Dale Funicane already here .. at a fraction of the cost

That is the route we have no choice in taking …paying overs for names has failed every time…Getting players already in the system playing over their pay grade is the choice they have made…just means we have to wait unfortunately ..

Fans have been waiting over a decade. Asking them to wait another 5 years for the administration to sort out the mess they created in the first place is asking too much.

Time to give it away then

And in 5 years when they’ve failed again, do we give them another 5 years?

All we get from this club is bullshit excuses. It will wear thin on everyone eventually.

I don't understand how 2021 is the breaking point for some fans. Either Balmain or Wests, it's 30 years of not making a consistent impact. Magpies had a little flutter in the 90s, WT had two good stints, the rest of it sub-optimal.

It's not acceptable but it is normal. Surely the time for "wearing thin" was past many many years ago.

Aren't you amazed many fans have hung on so long ......I don't get your anger at fans for finally being over it all

I'm not angry at all. I just don't get it - I don't understand to have hung on so long, but 2021 is the final straw. People are always saying it's the final straw, not good enough etc., they always come back.

Not going anywhere just want new people to fix it

The real question is "are Tigers making forward progress overall?" If the answer is no, then sure, kick out the incumbents. BUT realise of course the new people have to deal with the same crap, same as what is happening at Broncos right now.

If Tigers are making "some" forward progress, then it makes sense to let those people keep going for the regulation tenure to achieve some results - 5 years.

Of course if Craig Bellamy or Tommy Turbo become available - go for it. But to argue we'd be better off parachuting in John Morris or Cheaty Flanagan... it's madness to me.

Not convinced it’s the coach due to already trying that. Need some new thinking above that.

I heard cotric was on 650k a year. But yeah there cap is getting out of whack again. No hooker or front rowers signed. Stupid.

Believe its 550k this year and 600k the next two after that, but not 100% certain on that one.

Also would not rule out TPJ ending up at the Dragons, especially if the Dragons can get the Broncos to pay a larger portion of his salary.

Thats what confuses me.. If Broncos are willing to pay say 200k for TPJ next year would that not help in us increasing our offer even to 675k ?
We need to be real and understand we are not the Storm or Roosters etc..

Hopefully sheens said no.

I’m actually happy about this decision.

People are really overestimating the scope of Sheens' power.

It’s a bit weird they were all in with pangi then ?

See the thing is you don't know any of that, there are literally millions of possibilities of what could be going on and you come up with the one that fits what you want to happen.

Well the plan trip definitely happened unless they were fishing with Pascoe dad

Or went up to see Isaako as they were looking at wingers at the time and actually signed one a couple of weeks later. So you can't be sure that the trip had anything to do with TPJ, you are just jumping to conclusions that fit your narrative.

Thank goodness we finally have someone on here that sees and understands the way things are ...or for that matter...aren't.

The club have had dibs on Isaako since late 2019/ early 2020

"Meanwhile, the Tigers are officially out of the race for Tevita Pangai jnr. The Broncos forward is chasing big dollars and the joint venture club came to the conclusion he was not a good fit." or was it he didn't want to join us...?

Probably means they know he is not interested in coming now another club has entered the market

Agree. Everyone is so obsessed with who is signing with who with out looking at the quality of the game. When a Roosters team-( granted weakened) but still with the likes of Teddy JWH Crichton Morris Manu Tupou etc gets smashed by 46 points to nil and not the first time this year - then there is a problem. Clubs can't continue to massive contracts for players to have it a two horse race.

The club should go all out for "the Cheese" ..he is the style of player we need - 1000% commitment for 80min (our biggest weakness)

It is the most lopsided comp I have ever seen in 54 years of watching rugby league. The changes over the last two years , the TPAs, and players wanting to play for winning teams due to there being no loyalty these days have led to this rubbish.

It’s the nature of the losses for me, conceding 60 points in 50 minutes. Why should we care when the people employed by the club don’t appear to. An apology to members would have been appropriate.

Are you serious? You want grown men to apologise to you?

I want my team to have a bit more spine than that.

Talking about the club not the players, they’ll take our money but we’re not exactly getting what we were sold. Unite, commit blah blah

Reality is the Dogs are sitting there with that offer the Pom mentioned and they have snuck in yet again to take one off us whilst we jogged on the spot.

Burton
JAC
TPJ

They invariably get their man, we don't...

Us saying "have doubts, we are out" is saving face. Nothing else.

This x 1000,000, we are if nothing else but consistent in not being able to get the deal done on good players, I still say the coach is a turn off in my opinion
