Exact same trend as 'several' prior big names.

1. Manager sees if we are interested.
2. We jump at the chance / we have cap room etc...
3. Manager puts it out there he may join the Tigers...i.e. any other clubs want to come in right now / would prefer to go anywhere but Tigers.
4. Player goes cold on the idea / every man and his dog says 'go anywhere but there mate'.
5. Player ends up at another club. TPJ was with Sonny Bill at the boxing sat night. We all know where he will end up...

It is fairly clear we are merely a pawn in play...used to drum up interest.

Lodge was also meant to be on his way to Newcastle - it's not just us. This is more like the decision about who goes and stays being taken out of the hands of Kevin Walters before the mid year cut off date. The issue in this case is the Broncos in damage control.

It is not just us, yes. But we really need a 'win'.

Knights past few years have landed Klemmer, Ponga, Pearce etc. They don't need to show they can do it.

We had a clearly open window re TPJ...even Chairman Lee got up on his soap box again and uttered his name...these things 'happen' when you have the right people closing deals.

Fairly or unfairly, we have a long, long history now of not being able to get big names across the line.

Not much we can or any club can do when the club the two players are contracted to no longer will release them.

Actually, there would have been multiple deals put on the table. Obviously, ideally we would have liked TPJ subsidized, but if you hear the deal may be off...is it worth saying "we will take on all his salary" and getting it across the line? We seem to have delayed as we are hoping to convince Finucane. I'd almost say that deal is no chance, but I hope I am wrong and we do land him. We desperately need a win and there is not a lot left for 2022.

We are hopeless at it and I wish it would change. The thing is I don't want us signing some plodder on marquee dollars. Just keep going for the best juniors and overpaying.

The only thing worse than not getting marquee players is paying marquee dollars for plodders.

I see Finucane being one of those types of signings. We should sign these guys on 1 year deals only. Then you can pay them top dollar but it's for one year. If they aren't worth it they don't get another year.

I'd rather see us waste a huge chunk of salary cap and try and get Latrell for one year. I'd prefer Turbo but the guy will re-sign with his club because he is class.

We should just save our dollars and go for the best juniors. Someone on here mentioned Reese Walsh way before he was poached from Brisbane. Those are the players we should target.

I'd love to get TPJ and the club should try but they need to set a spending limit.

I don't think it has anything to do with what we did or didn't offer I think it's more that Ikin sees those two players as more value to the Bronco's going forward than letting them go - and considering the lack of quality players available and their current position you can understand why.

If we look at history, Souths and the Dogs both had this happen and then they took out the cheque book and nailed it...big names, overs, but changed the culture.

Our risk is we 100000% **must** get it right...after Packer, Reynolds and Mbye, we just have to nail it this time. Getting it wrong again on long deals and 4 more years without finals could almost be the end of us.

Ikin has been on the record multiple times saying they both need to go...TPJ especially.

I think it is more that Ikin is going to hold out now that 10 clubs have shown interest and wait for a better deal.

Here is what we need to understand. Getting a marquee signing wrong can ruin your club. Look at the Broncos. I think their marquee signing was Milford.

You also don't need marquee signings as Melbourne have shown.

I'd rather spread the risk on a couple of top juniors.

The best option is to be able to purchase a marquee player. It's just getting the right one seems impossible for the Tigers. I'd argue Melbourne signing Coates is a better marquee signing than we've ever made and that is probably their first marquee type signing.

Yes and no mate...Storm don't need them as they already have Munster, Paps, Bromwich, Finicuane, etc etc. They are loaded. It would take us a decade to build that roster.

Thus we need to land a marquee or two IMO. We are the least represented club in rep games. We need to somehow jag a match winner and a culture changer.

Broncos are a deadset mess how do you leak that a player is no longer wanted at a club mid game while there playing then 2 weeks later turn around and say there not going any where this is mental imagine if tigers had done this

Maybe they went up to meet with Anna Palaszczuk. Who knows?

Does she even play rugby league?

Don’t know but we could sure use her here, her evasiveness is brilliant!

Plus she can shut the borders in an instant, and keep the other team out, we have no idea how to do that

Lodge said it himself: one minute he was told he was gone, then the next minute he was told he'd be staying and then he was told he could go again.

It's been speculated about with Isaako and Billy Walters and TPJ said himself he was told he could leave. Now they'd like him to stay? What a joke.

Things down here are rosy compared to up there.
