I think Fittler would regret not going with a Reynolds/Walker halves combo last night, after Cleary/Luai, they're the next best in-form halves pairing in the comp.

You'd think so wouldn't you. It was a really poor decision. I couldn't understand it prior to the game and it was clearly the wrong decision after watching the game.

Reynolds is a quality half. Moses has his moments but he just isn't that good.

People have short memories of Walker's games in NSW colours.

I can understand not playing Walker. I would have played him though. When is on he is a great attacking threat. Moses has never performed to the level Walker has at club level.

**When it comes to picking your 7 though I cannot understand on what planet Moses is a better player than Reynolds. Seriously I don't get it at all.**

Me neither, I thought it would be a no brainer picking Walker & Reynolds, since they had done so well with club combos to win the series.

They seem to have an aversion to picking Reynolds for some reason. Maybe they think he is too small, injury prone and will get smashed in origin, I don’t know. Same as Souths not wanting to offer him more than a 1 year contract, even though he has been their best player for much of this season. They must know something we don’t know? All I know is we sure could’ve used his kicking game last night, that alone would’ve put NSW in a way better position to attack and score more points.

This guy is so overrated and shite. His kicking game is still the same as ever. Boring bombs that goes straight to the fullback or the winger. No variations to his game. Brooks robbed from that 7 jersey.

AT least Brooksie would have had a run or two!

Once I heard that HE got picked, that was it. Didn't watch the game ,but very happy that HE had only an average game because HE is only average. I really don't like HE.

Wighton was a far bigger failure than Moses. I almost think that he's played himself out of the no.14 jersey even.

Fittler tried to 'set up for the future' by picking younger halves but it's costed him a whitewash. Halfback is too important of a position to give to some chump.

Big game imposter

I'm surprised he didn't fake an injury pre game knowing full well he would dog it as he doesn't have the heart for it

Anyway the loss is on fittler

He picked moses and moses ego believed he was up to it when the rest of moses really wasn't up to it

But like I said fittler picked him and so fittler wears the blame himself for failing in his dream to coach one of NSW best ever squads to a whitewash

Moses though will probably still wake up this morning thinking he was one of the best on the field and Fittler will wake devastated at how on earth he made such a critically bad decision

If he chooses Reynolds and Walker, NSW win imo. As others have said, hopefully Moses’ first and last time in an origin jersey.

Perhaps they thought it was a good opportunity to find out if MM has what it takes for Origin?

Hopefully they can draw a line through his name now and start considering other back-up, because obviously he doesn't... was behind the pace of the game all night and offered very little except a couple of good kicks and a few decent tackles.

Moses should take plenty of photos tonight. I think it was his last time in a Blues jersey.

His kicking game was good .....but Wighton and he were never going to work

Why NSW didn't go with Walker and Reynolds just astounds me ...especially with Cook at hooker .....

Good?
You've gotta be joking... One or two that's it

He got lucky with that one that bounced straight into the in goal too.. QLD should’ve got to that. Or with even luck it bounces over the dead ball line most other times.

No better or no worse than Mitchell Pearce in Origin. To be fair, Cleary is a hard act to follow, so Moses was on a hiding to nothing.

Cleary & Luai play tonight, NSW win easily, imo.

Sorry spud but I think he was much worse than Pearce

At least he tries and runs the ball

Moses was a total dog tonight

True but it was his first game, Pearce had several attempts and looked like he was a deer in the headlights just about every time.

Not defending Moses because I don’t think he is up to origin level yet, but expecting him to fill Cleary’s shoes in his first ever origin game was always a faint hope, especially with the equally ineffective Wighton as halves partner. It was a total mismatch in the 2 most key positions.

I think NSW did really well considering the weak 6 & 7 combo, such is the talent in the forwards and the back 5 - they very nearly pulled off the win despite them.

well the problem here is they were singing praises of Moses already and he hasn't even played the game - I think it got to Moses' head (I know most of the players will say they don't read media but they do) here it is - Sterlo's rap - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMQDncpEfXI - 22:14 minute mark

I don't think though that he could fill Cleary boots and even with 20 games of origin experience

Pearce not great either but at least has heart

And God help the blues if moses ever gets to 20 games experience anyway

Can't agree with that

Wighton at least had a go

Moses was heartless

Its as simple as this.

Moses isn't good enough. Wighton is, but is part of a badly out of form Raiders team and he is suffering too.

NSW have picked player names and reputations in the past 15 years. Stop picking players from bottom 8 teams for a start unless they are red hot individua,ly.

Not a huge fan of Walker, but he and Reynolds, in a top 4 team with Cook, Murray and Lattrell was a serious no brainer.

Instead, Fittler selected two high risk players, most important positions in the team, and risked it for what? Brain-dead stupid.

And to top it off, NSW management, and some interesting specimens in this forum defended Moses game. Then they say "in a losing team, everybody wants a scapegoat". Fact is, the result was predicted before the game with Moses and it was never going to be different.

I would have run with Reynolds at half and Moses 5/8. That would work better at this level

NSW love a big half.
I certainly couldn’t imagine Mitch replicating Wightons as a 6.

The cold hard truth to it is Cleary is a whole of field half where as Moses is a left side / right side player, it keeps Moses pigeoned in to a side and Jack is just a runner. Half the problem with Canberra at the moment is just that. I reckon Wighton would still be alright next to Cleary as Cleary takes on more through the set.

It seemed as though Teddy touched the ball more so than Moses did.
From memory with us the only time Mitch would be the dominate half was when Brooksy wasn’t playing that game.
He had a half decent stint back of 2016 with a couple of big games.
Maybe he was a bit overawed by the occasion.
