That LEFT edge

Joey and Kepaoa can go and play reggies next week with Luch on notice for his poor reads. this is why I was hesitant to lose Momirovski. Talau is still very raw and struggles defensively, unfortunately we might see more of the same.

Ive been a critic of Talau, but he defended well yesterday on the right. I still dont think he is the answer at centre, but if the priority is to stiffen our defence, he could do a job. For mine Id probably put Mbye left centre.

And you weren't nervous the times that the Roosters went to the left and Noffo was isolated out there on his own?

The only thing that saved an almost certain try on a couple of occassions was Noffo going for the intercept, which unfortunately didn't quite come off.

But it just went to show that they had us beat on both sides of the field and eventually in the middle as well.

It was just that they mainly targeted our left edge today, but had us beat all over the park anyway.

Both times Nofa went the intercept he’s better off back pedalling and buying time to ride the winger into touch, it wasn’t in the red zone. Those are silly plays late in the count.

Absolutely agree. I said the same during the game. Its a low percentage play, especially late in the tackle count.

I lose count of how many plays like that we make every game. I wonder if the boys listen during video sessions because that sort of thing must be repeated week in week out.

Same with the charge downs, very few end up to your advantage.

Good teams get the bounce of the ball..can't explain it but it's real..

The charge down from Mbye was good pressure but it bounced straight to the only bloke within cooee Teddy..same as Teddy's 2nd TRY ricochet straight to him..

More men in the frame. It’s not luck it’s effort.

Huh the charge down it was Teddy and Mbye..

Talau and Mbye need to be on the left next week. They defended pretty well last year together, the attack won't be as good but then again it's pretty crap at the moment

Mbye is not our future...put Hoffman on the wing and Talau at centre

Agreed regarding Mbye. Its like this forum has forgotten he played plenty of games at left centre last year and did not defend in cohesion with his wingers. Get the young guys in there now.

Mbye was probably our best defensive back last year, except for Brooks.

The 4/5 nearest players were Mbye, Teddy and then two or three lurking Roosters. Odds say it will end up in a Roosters hands most times. Doing things one out on a football field is a sure way to lose. Charge downs come off maybe 1/7.

Agreed, 5 players pushing up in support of every attacking effort.

Tigers make long breaks and it's maybe 1 player in support.

Doesn’t help when old mate with the whistle refuses blatant 6 agains on those breaks but hey, wouldn’t have made much difference the way we defended.

We are not in the fortunate position of being able to play low percentage football. Even at the peak of our powers it was our downfall a lot of the time.

Not a donkeys chance in hell.
Mbye is the talker we need on that left edge.
It’s no coincidence no one questioned Lucianos defence once Bj was replaced with Mbye on that side. You don’t fix that by picking a weaker player there. If anything you’d have Hoffman in the centre’s because his a specialist one.

Last season it was the right edge, this season it’s the left, when we gonna get it right?

There’s 1 common denominator in both those scenarios . And it’s not Luke Brooks

If last week is any indication, it’s the right edge this year. Gildart couldn’t tackle his grandmother

Tuilagi Brooks Gildart Maumalo defend the left hand side of the field..

The right edge where Coates scored Nofoaluma made the covering tackle on Papenhayzen.. leaving the right edge stripped of numbers..

Both edges need to be better ..however it all starts in the middle... teams collapse that and the edges struggle to compensate..

I’ll give it to the coach/es and assistants there was much less panic on our edges.. Middle was sloppy from about 55th min
