We might be a basket case with the cap, but at least we are not as dumb as to forge a players signature.

Greg Bird hopes James Roberts will recommit to the Titans despite an issue with previous contract.
He lived in close quarters with him over a three-day boot camp in the Gold Coast hinterland and senior Titan Greg Bird remains hopeful star centre James Roberts will move past his latest contract dramas and recommit to the club.
The two-year extension he signed mid-season was deemed to be null and void when it emerged that a fake signature from a club official had been used to amend one part of the contract, effectively putting Roberts back onto the open market.
Club officials were hopeful of working through a resolution on Monday after the team returned from the Army camp but the sudden passing of close friend Jason Haider in Sydney delayed further discussions.
Roberts mixed happily with Titans teammates as they recovered with a few ends of lawn bowls on Tuesday afternoon and the club remains confident that he will stay on the Gold Coast where he will have the chance in 2016 to play alongside his cousin, Knights recruit Tyrone Roberts.
Although there was little sleep to be had over the course of the camp, Roberts and Bird shared a tent and the Blues and Kangaroos star is hopeful that the 22-year-old will run out alongside him in Round 1 next season.
"I hope he does," Bird said when asked about the prospects of Roberts staying on the Gold Coast.
"He doesn't want to leave but at the end of the day it's a business like anything else and that's the advice he's been given I guess.
"He was in my group, he was my tent partner, and he was good.
"He worked hard and I'm hoping that these negotiations can get sorted out and finalised sooner rather than later so we can forget this whole media hype that has surrounded this contract drama."

Why does it have to be the Roosters or Broncos who will have the magical cap space for Roberts.
We might be struggling but surely with Marty and a few others gone there is some room to move.
Whatever happens with Farah we hope that there might be some extra cap space to use.
Surely the best way to not only placate us fans but excite us is to get the most exciting centre in the world.
Tigers please please please get him or get Walker and I promise I'll forget all about our off field dramas.

Knocked back titans offer. Told them he wanted to pursue his career elsewhere. Can only hope tiger's have some spare cash.

I tip that he will end up at either the Broncos or Souths and if the NRL was fair dinkum in the Salary Cap they would refuse to let either of those two clubs register him.

From my understanding, Brisbane have plenty of room in their cap for someone else. Maybe they will offer Roberts a small contract period, but all things point to Roberts returning to Sydney/Penrith.

you never know until he has signed with a team. not getting dragged into it but you just never know.
He's a damn good player but I'm not sure that a bad news story is not just around the corner.
The Titans saved his career and there doesn't seem to be much acknowledgment of that. He's just used the opportunity of the titans stuffup to get more cash.
I wouldnt be too disappointed if he didnt play for us.

Brisbane or the Storm would be the only realistic options.
If we had a spare $500k we might have had a go, but we don't so we won't. For someone with such a turbulent past behaviour wise i'd probably want to see a bit more consistency over an extended period of time, on and off the field, before throwing up big dollars.

I just cant believe the Storm are a chance… They MUST play Munster & Slater this year, and then there is Chambers on the Right.

Don't get me wrong, I wish him the best, but I think he's coming with a price tag 2016 that is not supported by enough good behaviour or good footy. He would have been a much better pickup a year ago, and it's a shame for Titans to take a punt on him, get him into career-best form, then lose him.
With the Farah situation there is all this talk about loyalty to players, but you can be sure that many players will do as they please when it comes to salary and advancing their career. For every bloke that takes a pay cut to stay loyal to his club, there is a Prince, SBW, Folau, Te'o, DCE, Foran, Hopoate, Milford, Taupau and now Roberts who will do whatever is in their best interest.
Not saying players should not do this, but that fans should not be so upset when the club also tries to puts themselves first.
