The use of "Unca Wayne" as a reference obviously causes you a little bit of a problem so I would suggest staying away from many of my posts re Broncos.

You know you're struggling when you resort to this argument.

As far as your bet goes: yep the Broncs are dead certs for the premiership next season….throw your life savings on 'em! Pretty sure the same was said by many of us about WT before the 2012 season.

And Saints in 2010, the Roosters in 2013, and Souths in 2014.

And Brisbane in 2001,Parra in 2002, the Roosters in '03, Souths in 2015….. does your argument actually have a point?

Brisbane arent cheats, they are just very good operators… Obviously they have room in the salary cap or the NRL wouldn't register the contract. :crazy

Does yours? Haven't read anywhere anyone saying they're "dead certs" or talking as if them winning the comp is a forgone conclusion.

For people to not understand what TPA's are in this day and age when they are so regularly discussed in the media is stunning.

TPA's are just a means for the rich clubs to rort (read cheat) the system.
The NRL allows some teams to fit players in under their cap at way below market value knowing that TPA's will allow them to be paid their real value.
In contrast the clubs unable to offer a never ending supply of TPA's need to pay top dollar and thus fill their cap up quickly.
And the NRL somehow call this a level playing field.
This is one reason certain clubs don't want footballers 'earnings' to be made public.
There would be a lot of quality players at some clubs on some very low wages (minus the TPA's of course).

The thing is hiw can you stop third party deals? If the NRL outlaws how xan they police it? They can't demand a company show their books to check if they are paying a player.

The issue i have with the whole thing is the NRL promotes that the competition is so even and everyone has a level playing field but that is not even close to true. Just be up front about what each club is spending (TPA's included) so fans can get a true idea of where their club really sits.

Then the blame should lay at the feet of the NRL, not the clubs. The competition is so cut throat that clubs will always use loopholes when they can to gain an advantage. The onus is on the NRL to put a stop to it.

Of course its the NRL who should carry the blame - as much as i hate it clubs like Brisbane are only working within the rules the NRL have allowed. TPAs are a joke and a blight on the game. If TPAs are supposed in no way be associated with the club and are not to be used to entice a player to a particular club then why can't the NRL have all TPAs registered with them. TPA providers still pick who they want to sponsor - they just don't get a say where they play.Have a transfer window where all players off contract are registered and all clubs put in their bids within the cap. TPAs are then given to the player. He gets the same amount of TPA no matter what club he goes to. Questions can then be asked as to why player A is willing to sign with Brisbane when other clubs have offered twice as much money under their cap.

It's as simple as the NRL not allowing clubs to register player contracts so far under their market value to cheat the cap.

My understanding is that this is exactly what the NRL does anyway. So I fail to see how TPA's are such a rort of the salary cap.

Because a club can pay a player what their NRL market value is but also arrange for them to be paid more outside the cap via TPAs.

In Roberts's case, if he was worth say $500,000, he might get say $50,000 in TPAs at the Tigers or $300,000 in TPAs in addition to his $500,000 at the Roosters or Broncos. In this way, clubs that can attract hefty TPAs for players have a massive advantage in attracting the players they want.

Pretty much… Hence why we need to recruit/build better CEO's and Board Members to achieve this.

The system isn't the problem. We are!

The point is though that you shouldn't be able to have a squad that is well over the cap when compared to other squads.

They're supposed to - but how do you think teams like the Roosters, Souths, Broncos and a couple of others always manage to fit so many elite players in their squads?

I think we overpay certain players. So we overpay Robbie but I think we do the same thing with probably Woods which means we pay players within out salary cap more than what the NRL would value them at.

How much is a current Australian and Origin Prop worth…?

If people think Woods is being overpaid now – better get those TPAs worked out before we have to offer him the next contract.
