THE 4......THREAD

I think I've figured out the problem with the big 4\. They have all the hallmark traits of a stereotypical millennial:

- They lack loyalty
- They are self-entitled
- They are not committed
- They overrate their own abilities
- They lack grit
- Everything is someone else's fault. They struggle to take responsibility
- They are self-absorbed show-boaters
- They respond poorly to criticism. Instead of taking criticism on board or trying to prove critics wrong, they sulk and moan and feel sorry for themselves.

I wouldn't be surprised if they have already asked for ping pong tables, candy walls and sleeping cubes at Concord.

This certainly defines Moses. Which is why I wouldn't re-sign him.

I guess they didn't check in with The Footy Whisperer this week. Or did he tell them to play mindless, dumb footy? Either way, how's the Guru working out for you guys?

Would it be better to go money ball style like Canberra for next few years keep one of the 4 and chase 100 game plus players to harden the club up guys who play for the full 80 and have a backbone

This is my main point, a serious part of our fan base has turned against leading players because of how they're portrayed in the media. In the past when Farah and Benji and Heino were off contract we'd all be praying that they'd stay. No talk from them in the media, despite speculation.
Half of us now don't even want these guys to stay

We have to go moneyball. We can keep all of the big 4 on reasonable dollars. If they don't like that they can go.

Yes

Do you think they could buy into the vision of taking less to attract better squad players? Realistically any chance they have of attracting huge bucks seems to slip further away for each loss…...
Guess it's up to Cleary to cultivate the culture to get guys to want to play at our club...

_That is what our team lacks at the moment in a simple nutshell_

KEEP TEDDY, and let the rest go if they don't like what there offered, and I mean offered a lot less than they think there worth. there are player out there who are waiting for a chance and will play for a lot less and will actually put in. spend the money on 3 top class back rowers and two class centres , and iam sure we can fill the rest.

New Wests Tigers coach Ivan Cleary urges ‘big four’ to commit their future to the club
37 MINUTES AGO - APRIL 3, 2017

AFTER a fortnight of uncertainty, Ivan Cleary has finally been unveiled as the new coach of the Wests Tigers, on a long-term deal that gives him the opportunity to stabilise the club. Cleary was unveiled by the Tigers at a press conference this afternoon, admitting he had some big challenges ahead. That will start with the identification of what he described as “blockages in the program” which are coming out in the results, then the hard part, repairing them.

“There’s clearly some blockages in the program here at the Wests Tigers and that’s coming out in the field at the moment,” Cleary said. “The performance on the field, that’s what the whole club brings. Game day is the framework that the club is seen through and it’s fair to say at the moment that it needs to improve.”

Cleary admitted that a big step towards improvement on the field would be ridding the club of the distractions, headlined by the club’s so-called ‘big four’ — Aaron Woods, James Tedesco, Mitchell Moses and Luke Brooks — who come off-contract at the end of this season. The coach confirmed that he would play a role in recruitment decisions and encouraged the quartet to “be part of the journey” with him.

“I’ll have control of the football team, recruitment will be a collaborative process but the buck stops with me,” Cleary said. “It’s something we’d like to sort out sooner rather than later … What’s most important is those guys want to get on the bus and be part of the journey.”

I believe Cleary has made his intentions with the four clear. Before taking the job he said we had great young players in key positions and today highlighted distractions as a reason for poor performance amongst blockages in the system. Get on the bus for the ride tells me he backs himself to get the best out of them whilst acknowledging the damage the contract saga is doing to the team. Interesting times I believe as he has full control, of recruitment he would know his plan.

I've been super critical of our halves,(Brooks especially) but in all honesty I think this could be the first time we've given them a quality Coach to enhance their careers. Hope they stick around for the ride

Will Ivan Cleary let one of the ‘Big Four’ leave the Tigers?
22 MINUTES AGO - APRIL 3, 2017

THEY have become know as the ‘Big Four” but will Ivan Cleary be reluctant to keep all of them together at the Tigers? This week’s episode of the Monday Bunker centred around Cleary’s appointment as the new Tigers head coach and what decisions he will make as he plans to rebuild the club.

There has been plenty of debate around the future of Aaron Woods, James Tedesco, Luke Brooks and Mitchell Moses and whether all four will still be at the Tigers in 2018\. All are managed by player agent Isaac Moses and are coming off contract this year. The Daily Telegraph NRL columnists Dean Ritchie and Paul Crawley had opposing views on the matter.

“I would have Woods and Tedesco (as my priorities) and then I would move on to Moses and then on to Brooks,” Ritchie said. “Mitchell Moses was offered $800,000 to go to the Roosters, he knocked it back. Bad move, I don’t think he’d get that money again.” Crawley said Moses and Brooks weren’t compatible as playmakers and would focus on retaining Brooks.

“I’d keep Luke Brooks. When Luke Brooks started his career he was the one taking control of the team. I sometimes wonder if Mitchel Moses personality is too much for Luke Brooks to play his best football,” Crawley said.

Spot on.

To the Big 1, and the three hangers on.
Big News boys, its Sign up , or Pack up time . theres a new Sherrif in town, with ( I hope) a whole new set of rules.

I can see Isaac Moses changing tack now. He'll say "sign all 4 of my clients or you won't get any"

The risk of holding out for everything, is that you may end up with nothing. The big 4's manager is seeing their value drop after each game. Teddy and Woods can probably get what they are asking elsewhere but Mitch and Luke's stock is in deep decline.

Now it gets interesting as they will all in essence be trying to impress a new coach who is actually knows his stuff and won't be afraid to tell them like it is.
