Any set of halves can look like superstars when it's easy and the pack is rolling over the opposition.
But the difference between those halves and the genuine top halves , is that'when the team is in trouble and things Arent going according to the plan, THATS when the real stars take control and make the extra effort, whether with a well placed kick( remember them?) or a pass.
These guys shouldn't be expected to be able to do what the Thurstons and Cronks of the game can do. But both our guys look lost when our forwards get rolled.
I disagree that that can be excused, sure it makes it harder for the halves, but that's when the halves are needed more than ever. To steer the team to where they want it to be.
A good half or 5/8 doesn't just put the cue in the rack when the forwards are finding it tough,
It's not the time to be sit back and just blame them.
The halves get the big money to do their job even when it's not as easy as usual.
