I'm not sure if big 4\. Would want him. Naiqama said his a poor communicator which would not go down well at our club. Although Elijah likes him.

Naiqama won't be here next year so his opinion is irrelevant.

It's still an opinion denan Kemp said the same think about his time at warriors with cleary. I just have feeling clearly is not the answer and if he was going to come here would of by now. I'd only be happy with Des and feel same as every other year if anyone else.

So two guys who couldn't get a game under him were the only ones who had a problem with him. Yet ET didn't. I wonder why.

They said he was vague and stand offish. I'm sure cleary not the only coach not to give naiq and Kemp a go. But no mention of them. Bennette didn't give naiq a go but wasn't a jerk about it

My take on Taylor is has the defensive structure improved over the 2+ seasons Taylor has been coaching working basically with the same players ,this answers my question. And I think Widdop would be a great pickup Moses 7 / Widdop 5/8 ..Brooks see you later and the goal kicking area improves 100%,for me it is only the big 3.

I don't see why Widdop would be a bad signing. He was a fine foil for Cronk at the Storm. If he's struggled at Saints, its probably down to him having to take on the role no 1 playmaker. He wouldn't be here with Moses. And he's a pretty good goal kicker. If Brooks continues to struggle i would offer him 350 take or leave it. Its a massive drop to what he's on now, but how the hell can you justify paying him any more based on his output.

I agree on Widdop, let Brooks go and spend that money on Widdop.

Bloody oath

Really good solution I feel too. There's no way Brooks is worth what he's currently on so they can't possibly upgrade that contract. Someone experienced to work with Moses would be ideal, and Widdop would be a good option. Despite all the hype around how well Brooks and Moses have played together and complimented each other in the past, I just don't think we've ever seen that in the NRL and don't know if we ever will.

I agree aswell. The other option is Chad Townsend. Youd think the sharks will struggle to keep him as Bird would be their priority and you put him with Maloney in the halves. A cheaper option could be Tyronne Roberts who has a much better kicking gsme then both our halves. If Moses is the guy your keeping we need someone with experience to partner him.

Wouldn't touch Roberts with a 10ft pole. Towswnd would be pretty good. Another guy whose at his best when providing foil for his halves partner.

If we let Brooks go, we must replace him with a #6/7 who is a good defender!

Otherwise we have not taken a forward step with the biggest issue - our defence.

Isn't JLJ pretty good in that regard?

I think he has 3 missed tackles from his first 2 games , he made 25 tackles week 1 , not sure how many v Penrith

But just remember he will be defending in a different position if he becomes a 7 and will get isolated far more often , and that's where the problem starts

Too many players get isolated or are left stranded by the mistakes of the players inside or outside far , far too often

A lot of defence is based on trust , trusting the bloke on your inside and trusting the bloke on your outside and then trusting the calls from your fullback

Do you think many players trust each other defensively at the WT's ??

What a funny question :roll

Your spot on, there is no trust and its so evident in our edge defence. Look at our right hand side. Moses is so up and down rushing up and naiqama doesnt know whether to follow or not and it leaves Nofa in no mans land.

Brooks' defence in the first two games has been good. Sure he ran up out of the line against the Panthers but Lawrence missed the tackle which lead to the try. Lawrence is supposedly Brooks' minder but does the half have trust in his "minder" to make the one on one tackles?

I know a lot criticize Moses defensively , but he stays on his feet more often than not and remains an active defender , that is important

If you asked me to compare Brooks or Moses as a defender , Moses wins hands down

Woods on 360 really highlighted a few things to me this week:

1\. the rumour mill is way off
2\. the contract negotiations are much further from conclusion than expected.
3\. Contracts are still dependant on issues not addressed
4\. the players seem heavily reliant on their managers, and not up to date with relevant issues (they had not spoken about the coaching situation) and yet he proceeded to explain that was one of the criteria s that would make him happy or un-happy in the following years. Strange since it's the eleventh hour yet there's been no discussion.

Having watched Woods on the 360 panel for the last 3 weeks i have to say i find him like an honest and a good leader, he seems balanced enough to handle different types of characters in a team, i think his heart seems in the right place, especially when he answered the questions about Simona, he didn't throw him under the bus but showed he was concerned about his well being above all else.

Anyway, interesting times ahead, i hope the tigers have a good strategy in place because it seems to me the boys and their manager holds all the cards.

100%, trust and cohesion are a must in a defence line. If you doubt the abilities of the players around you, then you are always at risk of second guessing and either coming to leave a hole outside you or ending up flat footed cause your in two minds.

Also it angers me when players go running out of the line inside our own 30\. I was always taught to hold your line in those circumstances, watch the ball carrier and the movement outside him.

"I haven't been on this page in years but wow this thread.

Woods has been approached by the Bulldogs however he didn't even take it seriously, he is staying at tigers.

Mitchell Moses has also been approached by the Bulldogs and he flicked it off instantly.

Tedesco does not want to leave the tigers, he will get what he asks for.

Brooks is the only player who still is in talk with the Bulldogs.

In other words dogs approached all four hoping one will sign.

As for Tedesco to the roosters, I have heard that Hayne has signed a one year deal with the roosters for 2018."

I know is all whispers and gossip but that's a great one to hear. Wether it's true or not, these I think many NRL punters are starting to think the majority of the big four are staying at the Tigers because talks are so far down the track and most other clubs have been swotted away

I don't give two hoots about who stays.

We MUST sign at least two hard nut, experienced forwards.
This and only this will change our team for the better.

I hate to say it but I think there's another flogging coming this week.

Oh for a couple of forwards who don't take prisoners this week.

Keep dreamin' cq

The big 4.
The big 4.

I keep thinking of some caravan park!

Seriously, when the CEO says all contract negotiations are to be kept in-house, that's one thing.
But footy lives and dies by the gossip, everyone wants the hottest goss, and we fans are caught up in all the sensational headlines, living in perpetual hope that somehow our team is always better off!

in my opinion there should be an annual player draft, just like the AFL has (yes, I know all the legals but the AFL proves that can be cast aside, there's a time for player negotiations and transfers and clubs and the fans are not cheesed off that player x can sign with another club 15 months before he will ever play for them!)
