The Ashes

Why why why didn’t we enforce the follow on? Test would of been as good as over. England back in it now.

I think they would of been concerned if our bowlers ended up bowling 150 plus overs back to back

Also I would rather set a total for the Poms to chase in the 4th innings than have to chase a total in the 4th innings

Just my opinion

Aussies still well on top, but geez, is there any group, more fickle than Aussie cricket fans. Been sinking the boot into Root for 3 days about the toss, all of a sudden Smith doesn't enforce the follow on, and the pitchforks turn on him. Pathetic.

Yeah I get that. But we may have had them 4 down still 200 behind. I tend to think we missed a chance because we are worried about over bowling players.

Aussies are still miles ahead with 2 days to go .
They'll still get to bowl to England under lights tomorrow.
England lost this one when Ellen DeGeneres decided to have a bowl .

True but I can still remember losing two of those 3 Tests we lost when getting teams to follow on , and the entire series in both of those Tests were turned on their heads

No pitch forks at all. Just think we missed an opportunity to go for the jugular.

It was a tough call either way Steve and GNR

Imagine the mental hurt if we beat England by an innings

And on the other hand , imagine if we lose the unlosable test again :bawling

I think we made the right call , but you wouldn't blame Smith if he had decided to send them back in

Either way, if we bat well first session tomorrow we should still win. I think my frustration is not with the decision not to enforce the follow on but the reason behind it. If that reason was because our bowlers need to rest, I reckon we’ve lost the plot. But I’ll sdmit - I’m old school on that one.

I'm with ya there Steve , I'd get rid of interchange in the NRL as well

Lets the fittest team win , not the team with the biggest forwards who couldn't last 40 minutes or biggest cheque book

I used to love the days of no interchange and when a player went off he couldnt come back on.The way forwards play these days they would struggle.Fatigue should have a bigger part in the game.

Pardon my ignorance but apart from the test in India when VVS Laxman and I think Dravid made huge scores,I can’t recall the other ones where we lost after enforcing the follow on.

Personally I couldn’t believe it when I turned on the TV and saw us batting. I thought if there was a time when we’d enforce the follow on it would be in Adelaide under lights. Anyway hope we can bat 2 sessions tomorrow and then bowl them out

Yeah we aren't real lucky sending teams back in

I think Australia is the only side that has lost after enforcing the follow on and we have done it three times now

We can't lose the Test if we bat them out of it

Can't win a Test if you can't bat them out of it either. They had the ball singing last night, absolute stupidity to go back in.

In the first innings when we batted the ball was doing nothing under lights. Plus the way Warner and Bangers batted in the 2nd innings of the last test probably swayed Smith into batting and keep grinding England. Up until that point England hadn’t got the ball to move around .
It’s obvious know it was the wrong decision. I was hoping we’d have a crack at them last night. We should still be able to set them over 300 and get a chance to bowl at them under lights tonight.

All this nonsense of saving the bowlers, I actually found myself agreeing with Warne (I think it was him,) who said that the best way to rest your bowlers was to win the Test early. Bowling at night when it was reasonably cool wouldn't have been nearly as taxing playing the first and second session in a day Test.

Even if they did tee off on them I still reckon we should have put the screws to the Poms. They instead got four quick wickets and walked off with their tails up. They clean us up for cheap and they have two days to chase 300\. Certainly not impossible.

Real chance for Handscomb to make his mark on the team today. If he gets a century, he's pretty much guaranteed himself a spot for the next year.
