The Ashes

I'm sorry , but Roots captaincy has to be questioned

Australia can't win this test barring a miracle , and Roots defensive fields are nuts

Having a deep mid on when you could have Warner hitting against the spin , just madness

Another great knock by Khawaja. Amazing the amount of crap the Marsh brothers cop, they are a punchline. Yet this guy gets off scot free.

I really like watching Khawaja bat when he actually gets a start, but he's a poor mans Mark Waugh. Technically beautiful stroke player, but absoutely no mettle and always looks like he's ready to bottle it.

Amazing that Renshaw got hoisted after having a great home series last year yet others got a start.

Maxwell averaging 74 at 3 for Victoria. Might be worth considering for the SCG. Offers another spin option too.

I wonder if there is anything in the fact once the Aussies went up 2-0 both pitches since have been roads.

Stephen O'Keefe will play in Sydney.

Agar will.

It was quite interesting listening to Mike Atherton's comments

He couldn't believe how a pitch this dry hasn't begun to break up at all and wondered whether if England had a class spinner would it had made a difference ??

My initial thought was SK Warne or Murali would of got it to spin on that track on Day 5

Not likely since Agar has been called in and SOK hasn't.

MCG has been garbage for years so it's expected.

Perth was a road the first day or so until the grand canyon formed down the middle of it. It was infinitely better than the last few years. That Test against the Kiwis there was an embarrassment.

Another great fighting ton for Smith.
Australia battled well to save that test.
Pom bowlers needed to be smarter.

Poms captain needs to be smarter and more aggressive

How could anyone bowl to those fields that Root sets ??

The drop in pitch has to be reviewed and the role the broadcaster has in what sort of pitch is produced also has to be reviewed.

A few years ago we had a different style of wicket at every ground. The bowlers and the batsmen all got conditions that both helped and hindered them. It was a real test of skill for 22 players. Now we are producing wickets designed to make tests last five days. I have faced bowling machines that offer more variation than the bowlers from most sides could muster over the last five days.

I say bring back the old gabba, waca, adl oval, mcg and scg wickets that gave everyone a chance to test their skills. As I said on another forum, its no wonder we struggle to win matches when we travel beyond the heads. Sadly Test cricket will die a slow death and the circus stuff will take over if they keep serving up flat tops

Root is far to defensive in his fields. He hasnt realised yet that when you tour you need to bowl the opposition out twice and not rely on pitches designed to aid your attack like they do in the uk

I guess we can blame the NRL and AFL players for that SC

Imagine if they scratched themselves on the old cricket wickets like they used to , imagine what RLPA would do then :bawling
