The Awful Truth

And now we are exposed, with potter in the deep end…. and judging from the complete lack of game plan out of his depth. Mick's about to find out that the step up from superleague is like stepping up from reserve's to firsts... some people just wont cut it.

There is a good reason, that Miller never got a chance under sheens.... It wasn't any sort of bias, sheens was the one that identified him as a talent and bought him across.

The truth was sheens knew he didn't have it.

And that' the awful truth.

Great post…. Potter just cracked me up when he said Tedesco had to work on his talk... what a poor excuse.
Sheens had him there round 1 2012 straight from NYC..his had a year with the NRL team his talk can only have improved as he has got to know the other players.

Miller Geez.... Please what is the go Potter? What have you seen that Sheens didn't see?
Miller was gone and you kept him Why ?

Oh dear some people have taken that loss to heart.

Sucks to lose so poorly but meh one game does not define a season nor a whole club. Potter has plenty to work with in the lower grades. If we continue to put in dreadful showings like that then at least he has a lot of talented juniors to blood moving forward.

At least he saw first hand all the deficiencies of these players and can now see the Sheenstructed side for what it really is.

B+.

YES THERE TALENT THERE BUT NO SIZE IN THE FORWARD RANKS, WE HAVE SHORT STOCKIE PLAYERS BUT NOSIZE AND BULK, AND THATS WHY WE GOT HAMMERED TONIGHT. HOW DO U OVERCOME THAT, AND THE CLUB ONLY BUYS FRINGE NSW PLAYERS, LOVE TO HEAR UR ANSWER, BUT I DOUBT THERE IS ONE.

Firstly, your caps lock is on.

Secondly, we have the best NYC players in the comp. Use them. Potter just picked Tim Sheens's side and saw how much it sucked. Now he may go and choose HIS side. There are some monstrous forwards in the lower grades waiting for a start along with the best junior fullback and halfback in the comp. If he doesn't pick Tedesco next week something is wrong.

Logically put Macdougal. But how logical and brave is the coach?

Anyway the pigs weren't our problem tonight. It was our edge defence. Lawrence to Utai's wing and Reddy into the centres, as simple and pointless as it seems would make a difference, and it's not changing the whole side either.

I had no idea Anasta was such a horrible defender though. I think he and Moltzen need to fight out for the 14 jersey now.

Well if he doesn't do something he won't last long. Dude is getting paid in Maccas and petrol money. What's he got to lose?

Mac he's got lots to lose

Name me 2 rookie coaches that were complete failures 1st time up that got another shot in the NRL

I never said he'd get another shot in the NRL. But it's not like I will either. He has no expectations on him. If he fails, he is where he was 6 months ago. It's not like he'd be losing a huge paycheck.

He could go back to England. He was the best coach over there.

Sorry Mac , but I'd rather be a middle of the road coach in the best comp in the world ,than top of basically a 2nd tier comp

Sure me too. But like, if he doesn't act brave and do drastic things with this side they'll finish last and he'll get the sack.

Agree Mac , but we can't go and make 4 changes with bringing juniors through

Small steps ,small steps Bring in Nofaluma and Teddy in , and them Pettybourne and possibly Thompson

Start with our biggest most senior forward pack Every club is basically playing props at lock for the defensive middle of the ruck

I think our forward were okay. Edges need work. Utai too slow and single handedly cost us two tries with physical deficiencies. Koro you can forgive because Uate was in fine form and he's young and will learn. Lawrence hmmm dunno, I'm remiss to drop him but he doesn't look good. I can't see Anasta getting dropped unfortunately but I don't think Moltzen is safe. I reckon Anasta might warm the pine though with Reddy replacing Utai and Teddy straight swapping Moltzen. I think Bell might get cycled out for Pettybourne too next week.

I dunno bout Noffa. I rated him but he just kind of looks like the sort of guy that's too good for lower grades, not good enough for top grade. Can't be worse than Utai though. Would like to see him given a go. There's Simona as well that would have a crack.

Bell Your kidding aren't you When he finally gets brought on we are already on the back foot and in a heap of pain

Start him at lock and give him the chance to make our fortunes before our fortunes are already gone

Credit to the Knights, they executed their game plan without fail. Kick to the corners, pin us down and break us on the sides.

It's not some B-grade squad we were up against, Knights are a quality side with Wayne Bennett coaching them. You saw what he done with the Dragons. That was painful to watch and very much frustrating. However, It's way too early and too quick to take that loss as a definite indication of what the season will pan out to be for both Potter and the Tigers.

We can't become a club that will be a rotation of coaches. We are re-building and its going to be a process to do so let's give Potter the backing, our team our support and take it each game as it comes.

:sign:

I've watched the game twice and been through all the negatives already. Too many to mention and you guys saw the game so no need to repeat it again.

Turning to the positives, its clear the team hasnt found the right combinations yet. There are some very capable players there (3 or 4 pieces of dead wood too) so there's plenty to work with. The entire performance was just woeful and although that doesnt identify a particular problem, it is the problem in a way.

Poor defence on the edges and backs (mainly), elementary handling errors, no cohesion, no players in motion etc.

Very little for Potter to take out of this game and assess because they wouldn't have fulfilled the game plan to within 5%. When you drop so much ball and give the opposition nearly 70% of the ball how can you make a call on where they could improve.

Very disappointing start for the Tigers under a new coach. Potter will do very well to pull this mob together within the next few weeks and have them playing tough, professional footy. He has my full support for now, but I'll be interested to see which players he persists with and how be gets them ready to go again after that appalling showing.

The Knights played well, but a top 4 side would have put 60+ on us with that defensive effort.

Gee Majers77, you're off to a bright start for 2013\. I won't offer reasons why I think you are being too negative because that would be like making excuses for a very poor effort last night. How about we meet at Campbelltown on Sunday and we'll have a beer? You will be there, won't you?

Its only Round 1 - But the players are certainly lacking spark… Playing the game with 30% battery.

The awful is truth is that our window for another premiership was in 10-11, we really needed to make those chances count. We should have won it one of those yrs if it wasn't for a couple of moments that could only ever happen to us

yep I think we missed our window as well with this current squad over those years.
