Schapelle's Father was looked after in our Palliative Ward at the Hospital where he passed away from Cancer about 6 or 7 years ago and i have met the Corby's and Family Friends while they were in the Hospital (not going into details) , not suggesting that the Corby's are clean skin's all the Locals here know them better than me .

FT exactly right,shooting two guys isnt going to stop the drugs from coming and the drug barons will keep getting richer..the way to kill weeds is to get to the roots,stop the production of the drugs and the supply will stop…thats just what I think if it is worth anything......
As a Man who works with the innocent victims of drugs, and lost a friend trying to break a H addiction to suicide in 2014, I honesty struggle to feel for these guys.
Death penalty is too much but I RESPECT the Hard line stance and think we here in Australia are overly tolerant on some issues.

Yes AHX 2001 Late January spent about 10 days at Kinabalu in Malaysia and then in Bali, just got back to watch a trial game between the Tigers v Melbourne in Gladstone

But if their laws protect their own murderers ,and then punish the foreigners well its very obvious of the corruption and bias
I don't know how true this is , but I heard a late night radio announcer say that of the 30 odd that have been put to death only one local has been put to death because of this and locals have been more likely to be shown clemency than foreigners
Why should we help support this by spending our tourist dollars , Bali would go under without the foreigners coming to Bali

I have a couple of issues with this. First of all their country, their rules. People would be saying our Government should tell other countries to and get f'd if they tried to meddle in our affairs, particularly the way asylum seekers are treated.
Secondly, the outpouring of support and moralists that have come out of the woodwork, where were they when the 6 or 7 other prisoners were executed 2 weeks ago? Why did it barely make headlines, and when it did, why was it only in connection with these two? If you feel that strongly about the stance your taking, take it and campaign when anyone from any nation is in this position cos you're against it, not campaigning for the simple fact their Aussies, its a poor look. Its like after the Lindt siege, terrible as it was, but the next day, the Taliban killed 126 children in Pakistan, something that was 100 000 times more horrific, but you hardly hear about it. This country is too self absorbed sometimes, and if people really feel so strongly that these 2 shouldn't be put to death, i really hope they are there campaigning in a couple weeks when prisoners of a different nationality's lives are on the line.

Are you talking about this forum or the community in general?
How do you know people don't campaign against it…but you only hear about it now in the mainstream media because Australians are involved...seems pretty normal to me...
FWIW...I'm against the death penalty as a whole but believe that a country has a right to have it's own laws It is made quite clear in Indonesia that if you traffic drugs you can face a firing squad...they are not victims they are criminals and should face the consequences of THEIR action....

Double whammy for mine. You get jailed for many years and then get knocked off for good measure.
They may have been labelled as ringleaders, but they too are probably mere pawns. Chances are their masters, the real criminals, are rubbing shoulders with pollies and the like in social circles whilst their runners await death or rot in jail.

I choose not to take drugs, I choose not to traffick drugs, I choose not to holiday in SE Asia as I personally don't like the area.
They chose to go to Bali and they chose to try to traffick drugs for money.
EVERYBODY regardless of age KNOWS what the potential penalties are for those offences in those countries. So it is totally irrelevant whether we outside of SE Asia agree with the death penalty or not, whether we believe they were young and entitled to make a mistake or not.
Choices people, you make them and you live or die by them. It's a fact of life.
