The Bench

Lets just hope signing number 30 throws our bench thoughts into turmoil

Early on I'd like to mix the experience up on our bench
.
13 Eisenberg
12 Aloiai
11 Taylor
10 Sue
9 MM /Liddle
8 Packer

14 Matulino
15 Lawrence
16 Twal
17 McQueen

That way we are always keeping a good mix of youth and experience on the park at any given time

My only concern is Rowdy , can he bring impact / enthusiasm off the bench ??

What about poor Marsters or Benji or Grant.

"Wests Tigers are sad to lose Tim Grant, but could not stand in the way of the 2 year offer from Penrith."

Huh? Why the hell would Penrith want another prop with all the young up and comers they have in their ranks? Especially one they previously discarded. Now we have lost another depth prop that we desperately need, while teams like Penrith and St George have surplus forward stocks. I hope we're looking at getting a replacement.

is this a done deal? if so may be we will get the english prop.

Nah. Sorry, I shouldn't make out I know more than I do, but there's been plenty of talk about Grant leaving. I suspect we would release him in the right circumstances.

I do not want Sue anywhere near the starting side and only maybe a bench spot. For a smaller prop he gets gassed so quickly which results in his second efforts not materializing. Honestly wish we could get rid of sue and grant and get another top prop.
.
I hate having two hookers. Its one or the other. so my bench would be:

Marshall
Aloiai
Sue/grant (rather another decent prop)
Twal

Should make a play for Kikau from panthers. He killed it in the world cup and wont be in panthers top 17.

my mate is in the captains club at the panthers and he thinks its a done deal.

Poor Rowdy…. :frowning:

Yeah but if the club was to move forward Geo we were going to always lose some favourites

Bit like losing Keefy 😢

Really something tells me Lawrence will be one of the 1st blokes Ivan picks every week when fit…

Wonder what that says about the Coach....at least TLT will have the same waaaaaaa feel about it...

Lawrence had a real spike in performance after Cleary took over. He was particularly good in defence.

Lawrence definitely isn't a bad option. I'd have no issues with him on the left or even right edge if he can handle that side. He runs great lines, can tackle and has speed for an edge backrower.

My issue is where does McQueen or Taylor fit in ? I reckon that Clearly has some tough decisions to make when it comes to picking the team.

I also think Twal and Aloiai have to be picked especially Aloiai.

If Grant is going then Aloiai maybe forced to play more Front row. I hope not as he has the speed and lateral movement to play 2nd Row . Not many bigger players have that, so it would be good to capitalise on it. Once Aloiai came back from injury he seemed take his game to a new level in the 2nd Row.

Does anybody know whats happening with the rest of the ISP players from last year who havent allready been punted .At this stage all we have is 4 players listed in ISP and i thought Sironen was leaving anyway .Love your thoughts.

As we already have 28 or 29 players contract in our Top 30 plus 6 development players all training together as one squad in preseason
I’m not sure but I don’t think the ISP will be announced until after the trial games and closer to Round 1.

Sirro is staying.

That speed and lateral movement also make him a great option up the middle. I think I'd prefer him up the middle even though he can go really well on the edge.

What is it with fans, they either think Lawrence is the NR1 superstar of the team or a player we should retire asap.

Lawrence is a benchmark/depth player. He will play with good intensity but we have better players built for the second row. I am hoping that our new recruits will just outperform him and he keeps them on their toes.

How Mcqueen fits in?? I don't know but I would imagine Taylor would be one of the first picked.

I reckon we will loose people mid year. Hopefully though we manage to keep the best.

I hope this is how we line up, Rd 1:

8\. Packer
9\. Liddle
10\. mats
11\. McQueen
12\. Taylor
13\. Huth

14\. Marshall
15\. Twal
16\. Aloiai
17\. Grant

at 50 mins, aloiai to 12 and taylor to 13 for Huth's break, marshall on for liddle

thoughts??

the bench has to have impact. I am really keen on starting taylor for 20 mins at hooker- Matulino, Packer, McQueen, Taylor, Lawrence and Eisenhuth- all are really good players but don't give us impact off the bench.

aloiai, sue, twal and liddle/mckillwrick- plenty of impact in attack and aloiai/sue bring it in defence too.

taylor is a middle player, let's please not waste him on the edge.

If his shoulder is all good by round one - why can't Liddle play 80?
