The biggest positive about losing Tedesco and Woods

Comparing lolohea to Tedesco is pretty tragic….if supporters are happy not to lose players come rep time...then they'll have to get used to long times on the bottom of the ladder

Disagree….In 2005, when we won the comp, how many Australian/Origin rep players did we have? I can answer it for you, we had one - Scott Prince played for Australia in 2005\. That's it. Just one....

Last year, 2016, we had three NSW Origin players - the most ever in a season and we couldn't even crack the top 8.

That's a fair point Agi…would still love a few big names in our lineup...enjoy vanuatu :

I have no problem with players missing 3 games, origin players in your side is never a negative.

Tedesco, time will tell if he is missed.

The others bye bye. If we spend well then we can strengthen their positions.

Interestingly, in 2005 we did have three Kiwi Internationals in our team…in 2018 it looks like we will also have three Kiwi internationals in our side in Taylor, Matulino and (possibly) Packer. Maybe having our rep players outside the Origin pool has some merit- let's see next year.

Don't agree with this. There have been some very good clubs over recent years contributing little or no players to rep football.

Our problem is that we had 2-3 players at the pinnacle with very poor depth. Those three players, as good as they were, we not good enough to get us through a long season, particularly when they played very little through the middle stages of the season.

True but with Tedesco it's not like it should have really affected us before he's only been selected once

The biggest positive about losing Woods and Tedesco is we now get to see our boys smash Woods and Tedesco.

Tedesco missed games for other reasons. The reality is that our side was way too immature over the last few years to make finals. We paid overs for young guys as a long term investment hoping (a) they would develop and (b) return with loyalty. Unfortunately, we misjudged their character badly.

At 4.00 today I posted a comment about the risk that players like Dugan & Tedesco face cos they have each been bashed by high shots. I hate to say it but it looks like Dugan has suffered a broken cheekbone from a head clash with potential Tigers signing Packer! Thankfully that will end any sign Dugan speculation at big dollars. I reckon the Dragons are happy for him to leave now. Might be a cheapy at $300K a season.

Exactly. We made some mistakes with these guys but only because they are low quality human beings. I think we need to be a little careful next time when it comes to doing this but I think it's highly unlikely to have players coming through the club with these guys attitude ever again.

I know Tedesco is a very good player and so is Woods but having finished out of the finals for all the years they have played together tells me their individuality isn't working for the team. Having them leave is good as now we will a coach bring in players to play as a team.
Just wish Reynolds wasn't one of them.

No-one is comparing Lolohea with Tedesco. If we sign Lolohea to take Tedesco's spot he won't be missing for 3 games come mid-season. That was the point being made.

For me the one positive is we now can try and assemble a squad of players that can all play at NRL level and not have most of our dollars directed at a few players. No headline grabbers, just a team of players who know what is required and can play really hard footy

The positive is you dont have $1.2million of your salary cap on 1 player. The positive is that you could get 3-4 good players for that money. As we have seen, having big chunks of our salary cap taken by 3 players has achieved nothing for us. Of course he is a loss as is woods. But if our recruitment drive keeps being successful than we will be a stronger overall team than we have been in the last 4 years.

This is what it's all about. A balanced champion team, not a couple of marquees. :sign:
