The Buzz: No tee party for Braith Anasta

WESTS Tigers have told new signing Braith Anasta to put his promising golf career on hold.

The former Roosters star plays off scratch and started in last year's NSW PGA tournament.

The event is on again this month, but new coach Michael Potter wants him at training with the rest of the Tigers.

It's a sign of things to come at the Wests Tigers with a much tougher approach to discipline from the new coaching staff at the club.

The club has been criticised in recent years for allowing Benji Marshall, Robbie Farah and other stars to run the show.

Chief executive Steve Humphreys confirmed Anasta had been told he couldn't play.

"He spoke to Mick Potter about playing, but it clashed with our training schedule," Humphreys said. "There was no drama - that was the end of it."

The move to stop Anasta from playing in the tournament shows the Tigers are prepared to take a much stronger stance than the Roosters with their star players.

Last year, Brian Smith allowed the then Roosters skipper to play in the tournament and this year Sonny Bill Williams has been given the all clear to continue his boxing career.

Meanwhile, Anasta's long-time agent Greg Willett has quit his job as a player manager after being recently exposed in an ugly court battle with former business associates from a decade ago.

Willett also managed the affairs of new Sharks signing and former Panthers star Luke Lewis.

Reminds me of the film 'The Legend of Bagger Vance'. I can see Anasta in those golf pants of yesterday. His time will come.

C'mon more than likely it will be for two days and he will probably miss the cut

The exposure alone would be worth it

Bad decision in my opinion If it was February I totally understand

I expect the same hard line stance to be shown when Benji marries whenever that is
Good to hear theyre apparently copping no crap…about bloody time, youre hear to play footy, if you wanna be a social butterfly, boot off.

X 2 …. Time for hard work and discipline ,the readiness to show your mate you are also ready to sacrifice for the team. The culture at the Tigers was bad news now the change is afoot get used to it .If we want a team that wants the exposure maybe we should support the roosters $BW.

BENJI MARSHALL turned on a show during a Mambo fashion shoot during the week. The Wests Tigers' star performed a series of backflips into the water. The Kiwis' skipper was, however, quick to point out that Mambo wouldn't be his attire when he gets married in January. When asked if he has mentioned the topic to his fiancee Zoe Balbi, Marshall replied: ''There is no way my missus will let me wear that, she tells me what I will be wearing.'' Luckily for Marshall, Zegna has already provided him with a suit for his big day.

I hope Zoes OK that the honeymoon will be postponed until November or so

They usually get a few weeks off over christmas/new year anyway, so I suppose it will happen during that time.

Then again, it is Benji…......

"The former Roosters star plays off scratch and started in last year's NSW PGA tournament."

…you know the old saying,"what do they call scratch golfers on the PGA Tour.....answer is Caddies.",he's needs a few plus numbers on his handicap for it to be anything other than a Ego massage, good one Potter.

I think we have to get used to these kinds of things or we will lose the SBWs and Benjis to other activities that pay more and allow them to sell themselves in whatever way they like.

Let Braith play golf, I say. At least he has a starting spot in the golf, not sure that he does in thie WT Nrl team!

Pretty harsh Basil I would shag Julia Gillard and sell my soul to be even able to play golf properly again ,let alone play off scratch 😛ray:
