The club deserves the Spoon

The club looks set to collect the spoon it has been working hard towards ever since Sheens was re-signed for the last time.
I had high hopes for this season. I was convinced we'd break our finals drought. It is devastating that it has been sabotaged by the politics of the board and administration pushing out a club legend, then sacking the head coach, a player busted in dodgy betting allagations and three high profile players holding the club to ransom for half a year before all ditching it very publically. Im furious at these people. They deserve the bloody spoon shoved down their throats.
A lot of the players are trying. The problem is that wont matter when others have checked out. Some of the players out there tonight deserve the spoon. The majority do not.

I started to chuck in my two bobs worth and paraphrase Strykers post but decided he said it as well as I could. Will Woods or Tedesco care if WT gets the spoon? Their heads are already elsewhere. The boys out there last night will care and if we win it, it will burn. **They put in last night. They might not be an A grade side but they put in.**

This season is a write off, and this is the only thing I ask for now.

Wel be 8-10 next year. Top 8 the following year.

All depends if brooks pulls his finger out.

I'm not counting on anything when it comes to Luke. What we have seen from him is the best he will ever get. Think its a pity that MM was asking too much $$ as he has far more upside than our boy Luke.
Whether we make the eight or get close will come down more to how Reynolds fits it IMO.

Yes unfortunately. The last round Mitch managed to bundle the guy with ball almost every time at least stopping passes being made, his kicks were far superior to Luke's. His team apparently are top 8 material and we are cell dwellers. Hopefully Teddy should greatly assist in avoiding the spoon.

Sadly To me Tedesco is not a real match winner (for us anyway)
Yes he plays well sometimes and average other times but we don't win many games just because he is at fullback.

The money we offered was extreme and fit for a match winner - someone who can really win, or turn a game on his own. Even the Hayne plane has put in match winning performances at the GC. He did it often at a weak Parra, too.

Unless we start winning regularly and make the top 4 consistently so we attract good TPAs I think Cleary is correct in not paying superstar money to anyone.

Weird..TPA's that make the difference are between the Player and the Third Party..the Third Party gets no exposure from the Club that player plays for…So what comes 1st the Player or the egg...

Lol Geo
You can't be that silly to think that people just pop up and say that I'll pay a player $200K+ to give talks or the like at their company? It's been reported often enough that Uncle Nick knows many people at the big end of town every time a marquee player comes available. Just like the Thoroughbreds in Brisbane - all Bronco supporters but of course they have no links to the club itself! Just really a pun calling themselves the "Thoroughbreds" lol again.

You really only hear about TPAs when the "unaligned company" doesn't pay up. Take Fafita going to the Bulldogs a few years back, seems to me he blamed the Bulldogs for a TPA (completely out of their hands) falling through. I would think that the club played a part in arranging funds for Fafita.

The Eels cap rort where close club entities paid players TPAs. The only difference is they got caught.

In all these bar the Eels, the NRL have no idea. Insiders let it be known at the Eels when board elections got very personal. Again the NRL have said often enough they can't do anything unless there are dobbers.

Brooks needs runners. Lawrence is useful as is Tedesco when Moses didn't push him wider. Reynolds will be better as will McQueen who will cover him in defense. Either Mitch played OK but downgraded Brooks and Tedesco or he didn't and the others played well. It was always about him.
As for teddy still playing well but yeah not the real special ones these days. Woods is actually playing well of the leavers.
Got big hopes for next year top 6 if we can recruit a couple more quality players. Got plenty of depth and Cleary has really thought about the mix and synergyies.
For a club who supposedly would need to pay overs we've done ok.

Brookes not only needs runners he needs to learn on how to be a more effective kicker of the grubber, how to position himself, where and when to kick. Some things you can learn quicker by also practising by yourself in extra time, I can't see why this can't be one of them. Even if he mucked around in 3rd grade and had runners come at him. Once he has developed the timing, ANGLE, height and length he can develop further in first grade. Maybe LIddle needs similar lessons but I can't recall his kicking.
