The LEICHHARDT Myth

Everyone goes on about a big crowd on a Sunday afternoon but these crowds have less atmosphere than the night games. The once a season crew rock up and sit on the hill and don’t get into the game dulling the atmosphere.

As much as i loved the hill, it needs to go.
Proper undercover stadium seating is the way to go for a real atmosphere.
I dont think we will be there much longer to get honest. Once parramatta is built and ANZ gets refurbished. They will be lured with money.
Its days are numbered.

I agree with this. I love Leichhardt, I grew up watching games there and it holds a lot of positive memories. But the reality is that seated stadiums with modern facilities are needed. I hope the club can continue to use the ground for a game a season against teams like Melbourne/titans/cowboys/broncos

Hopefully many are seeing my point of view ..I spent over $30 to stand on the hill and seeing was a problem and standing all afternoon …my normal 6 other companions were in front of the tele at home . Surely the club has to move into a new era and give its supporters a modern venue that offers value for money and viewing for all to enjoy .. and there is one coming on line very soon !

I think the Tigers / Leichhardt council are really stupid in holding onto the oval as their sacred ground. If they had any brains they’d remove the Tigers exclusivity and lease the to ground to the NRL for other teams to play their. We all know based on our last performances that it’s lost it’s lure as a spiritual ground. Why not share it around and make some money out of it???

Nowhere better than LO. I took some friends there today whom are Cambo supporters for their first ever experience and they loved the crowed, the atmosphere. They even said that Cambo, doesn't even come close.

You two are in the minority .
The hill is part of the atmosphere … that’s why people prefer it to a stadium full of seats.

Exactly! Replacing the hill with seats not only takes away probably 3000 people capacity. But ruins the atmosphere and the whole iconic footy feeling. The hill is the best part!!! I was there today and it was crazy amazing.

There was 17K Tigers fans there to watch v the Titans. Go we get that many for that game at any other ground?

Leichhardt is how it is spelt. How hard is it for all Forum posters to use spell check? Leichhardt Oval is not on a public transport hub. It will never be developed, except for housing.
While I'm at it, forum posters:
"their" means "belonging to them"
"there " means "that thing over there"
"they're" means "they are"
" your" means "belonging to you"
" you're" means " you are"
It's not that hard. I don't care where you went to school or whether you went at all or whether you were cuddled enough as a kid. It's not that hard to write basic english.

Yeah I agree, they just dull out the vocal supporters. Thursday night games in the rain with 6,500 dyed in the wool supporters have much better atmosphere! It was nice to be able to take the kids today though and give them a run on the ground.

On those wet nights or difficult to get to nights all of us vocal, passionate supporters are packed in together. Sunny Sunday arvo we get spread into pockets due to the size of the crowd. Glad the kids get to get onto the field and enjoy having a run around - good memories for the next generation of supporters.

I gave up on this a long time ago but feel free to headbutt the proverbial brick wall!

You mustnt have been there today you flog,

The place was buzzing!

The players got caught up in the Leichhardt atmosphere today… they wanted to put a show on for the fans with some razzle dazzle... instead they walked off the field with their tails between their legs, beaten by a football team that came here focused to win.

from my seat at CSS, in the western stand, I can see every part of the field. Why do people want to stand on a sloping paddock with very limited views to watch a game? Atmosphere? I'd call it torture and if I want to see my team get flogged, I'd rather do it in some comfort.

Now, what was that about a fortress?

Our average at ANZ is bigger than today's crowd.
Maybe you're in the minority.
But don't worry, the morons running the club won't ever move us from LO or CSS.
