The Tigers are considering signing Panthers giant Jamal Idris for next season - if they can make room in their salary cap.

The Tigers have little room to move at the moment but are hoping to offload some contracted players including veterans Chris Lawrence and Keith Galloway.

Both are under contract for 2016 - and on good money - but the Tigers are banking on an English club taking one or both off their hands.

Galloway has a British passport - meaning he would not count as an import in Super League.

Another veteran, winger Pat Richards, is off contract and won’t be re-signed. French club Catalans are likely to sign the goal kicking flanker.

Penrith are willing to release Idris despite the fact he is also under contract for next season.

They believe the big centre hasn’t given them great value and injuries haven’t helped his cause.

Manly are also believed to be keen on the hard-running centre.

It beggars belief that on top of all the players the Tigers have let go over the last 12 months we still have to shed more players to sign Idris…........"there's gotta be an investigation"!!

I agree, Idris is always one step away from another Drama. Pity as he had a decent future ahead of him at least twice.

I would say that Wests Tigers management's strategic thinking is unfortunately "what's does it have to do with fans".

Tiger Torch presents a different angle to what is effectively the same rumour - we don't have cap room to move.

One would assume this means we have too many players taking up too much cap space, which both rumours do purport, but TT says we actually don't have the cash to spend the full cap.

Let Idris go somewhere else, he has the occasional good game,but more bad ones and seems unsure where his head is, rumour is that he is over NRL.

Ava is better value than Big Red. I could see Keith at Manly. They love the older experienced prop.

Idris may settle with less Penrith players around him. I would take him on that kind of money. I would have tough behaviour clauses in his contract. If he doesn't perform by the time Penrith stop subsidising him then I would boot him.

Lawrence to super league… Nope won't happen. I would genuinely ask him to take a pay cut. He is a legend of a bloke and would probably do it. I would in turn give him some performance incentives.
