The Matty Johns Show

**Ratings**

Almost 600,000 viewers in Sydney and Brisbane tuned in for Johns' show, outrating Nine's The Footy Show by about 300,000 viewers.

In the predominantly AFL states across the rest of the country the show aired at midnight and viewers weren't interested.

There were just 2,000 viewers in Adelaide, 8,000 in Perth and 42,000 in Melbourne.

I was just reading Matty's blog on DT.

He said they tried to squeeze too much in, also they're going to make Controversy Corner longer and maybe sometime in the future, have it as a separate show on a Sunday like the Roast.

Also he wrote about Eric Grothe saying "He’s also done a rap song for my home town campbelltown." Does that mean he lives in Tiger territory and maybe thats why he could possibly be a closet Tiger fan or is there another Campbelltown?

Wasnt Controversy Corner an old Rex Mossop segment on the old, old footy show (i forget the name)? If so, then it doesnt sound very original.

Eric is a Campbelltown junior mate

Yeh I know Eric is a Campbelltown junior (From Eagle Vale I think?), but it still got my mind thinking because Johns wrote "_My_ hometown Campbelltown" rather then "_his_ (Grothe's) hometown Campbelltown"

It was probably a typo.

Nah it isnt original mate, but in there defence they're not saying it is. Matty said they bringing it back after 25 years.

Ah okay fair enough. I was just surprised that it seemed like people were considering it a new concept. It must be less than 25 years - I remember it being brought back by Andrew Voss (I think) in the mid 90's. I certainly wouldnt be able to remember it otherwise. I would have been 5 at the time (25 years ago).

Didnt watch, Mates here in the office said that there was hardly any footy content.

Seems like they have grabbed the worst element of the CH9 show and expanded it on CH7

Dot think it will last… I wont watch if its like this ....

Matthew Johns 'sweet' with brother
AAP March 26, 2010, 7:41 pm

Controversial rugby league personality Matthew Johns has revealed he's on speaking terms again with his brother Andrew.

The brothers, former star players in the NRL with the Newcastle Knights, had a falling out after both had endured high profile scandals.

Matthew Johns was blogging on a News Limited website following the debut of his new television show on the Seven Network on Thursday night when he was asked a question about his relationship with Andrew.

"Joey and I will be sweet, we started talking again," Matthew said.

In response to another reader who suggested Andrew and Matthew should work together on the latter's new show Matthew said: "I might give Channel Nine a call and ask when Joey's (Andrew) contract's up at Nine - good idea!"

Andrew is a commentator on the Nine Network.

Matthew alluded to some bridges being built with his brother on the new show, making several jokes about Andrew and pretending at one stage to be speaking to him on the phone.

Johns' long awaited return to TV came less than a year after he was let go from the Nine Network's The Footy Show in the wake of a sex scandal.

His brother had his own problems, the player widely regarded as one of the greatest the game has seen revealing in 2007 he frequently used recreational drugs during his career and was bipolar.

It was suggested the brothers hadn't spoken for six months because Matthew felt Andrew did not support him during his crisis the way he did during Andrew's revelations.

Almost 600,000 viewers in Sydney and Brisbane watched The Matty Johns Show with the league-based program out-rating Nine's rival The Footy Show by about 300,000 viewers.

Well it's not going to rate well when it's aired at midnight.

Rex Mossop had a show on sunday mornings.
controversy corner had people on there like Col Pearce, ( former ref) Ferris Ashton, and a player or coach from one of the teams in the comp at the time. you know when we had 12 teams, and norths and newtown were there :master: . Also had the passing footy competition, and when you got the ball thru the centre of the big target arera, an elephant would sound. If I remember correctly you had 3 passes from left and 3 from right. the player would come on there dressed up in ther team colours.

Matty Johns show will more than likely win an award within next two years.
I can just imagine his speech" thanks channel7 for giving me a chance, to channel 9, look at the ratings.

I'll watch it…..Just to support channel 7......want to see 9 lose the right.....sunday arvo footy is terrible..wish the show was on 10 or one hd.....They do a great job with the afl in sydney...

Like someone else on this show said I think Matty was just very nervous in his first week. Also it was obvious that they had crammed to much into that first show. I think that after a few weeks when Matty relaxes and they improve the show in certain parts it will get much better.

I'll be in the audience this week WOOOOOOOOOOOO \(^-^)/

I got 4 free tickets. Who wants one???

I plan to go to a show sometimes in the future, but I can't make it this week.

I am looking forward to seeing how show #2 goes tonight - hopefully the nerves have settled and it improves on last week.

A friend of mine was called this week and told channel 7 and the Matty Johns show will be picking her up from Panthers Leagues club tonight in a limo and taking her to the show. She is shocked, I don't think she knows why it is all happening.
