@Russell definitely not ‘off’ the books for 800K. That’s about as certain as Nicky politely letting Greenturd know that he must remain in charge for the rest of Chooks premiership window, then throwing him under any nearby bus when the commission comes knocking 😅

I cant see that JT, he deserves all he gets ive got nothing but good words and respect for him and think he did right by us and finally deserved to be in a much better team of many more stars of similar quality and a winning culture club and NSW and Australian Rep Just Too Good im sure we produced him

I think you are in the minority there.

The concept you put forward - he deserved to be in a "better team" with "more stars" and "winning culture"... makes me sick. What you are talking about is the specific reason that the salary cap exists, because if all the elite players ever do is want to play with other elite players, then the comp is forever lop-sided.

And they wouldn't be playing for Roosters, they'd all be playing for Broncos. Don't ever be mistaken that if they ever remove the salary cap, Broncos have the money and the benefactors to buy everyone.

No, the best players in the world make their team better, bring their team-mates to their level. That is why I can respect Cooper Cronk, because he's not just a great footballer, but he makes his entire side better. He organises, he lifts, he leads the way. Tedesco is a great talent but he's not a team player, he's an individual talent.

Tigers will never be competitive if any decent players leave because they want to play for "better" sides. It is self-fulfilling, because you can't become a better side if you always lose your best players.

So the idea that you are cool with that, that you think Tedesco spent enough time at the club and it was now time to let him go and find success - I detest that idea. Tedesco is a self-interested mercenary. He has accepted a bigger offer from a rival club EVERY time he's been off contract. If I was Roosters, I'd either have a very big paper bag ready in 2 seasons, or be prepared for other clubs to drop massive offers on Tedesco - offers, from history, that he's a very good chance of taking.

Tedesco is just Glenn Morrison Mk II, except that it didn't work out for Morrison the way he'd hoped.

Whole heartedly agree. But Teddy didn't leave for more money this time, he left for the chance to win premierships. Pretty sure we offered over a million for him and he's on the books at the Roosters for around 800k. He wanted to be a winner at all costs, and take the easy way to get there, which is pretty common for athletes these days (look at Kevin Durant going to the Warriors, even Cronk choosing to go to the Roosters etc). Glory seems to Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon money and loyalty these days.

Getting there the 'easy' way is a crap load better than not getting there at all.

And get through a pre- season and a full game then tell me how easy it was.

@gallagher disagree, too many people cite him leaving for personal reasons and to be a winner but there is NO proof of that - him and his best mates muddled the club entirely regardless of who their bloody manager was. He had a history of taking the easy way out, totally dishonoured our sacrifice in those first few years to stand by him and then not even attempt to deliver us to the promised land in September? Will never buy it. Sorry mate!

Minichiello is no premiership whisperer - acknowledge their nations of birth and similarity in position but I too have my doubts whether we’d be having this discussion had Cleary not arrived and immediately pulled offer for Moses, as well as Robbie/Woodsy off field distractions coming at key times in the teams development and probably, times we looked most likely to finally crack the 8. Teddy should not have been allowed to walk, everybody’s always saying we didn’t let him, but I am legitimately saying it needed to be a life and death situation, getting him to sign on the dotted line...

No point crying over spilt milk

They did everything they could short of putting a gun to Teddy's head and gaffa taping the pen in his hand...

Why didn’t they do that? Or get him to sign during surgery? They could have woken him from the anaesthetic and told him there are 2 options. The contract or amputation

@Geo that’s exactly right. His decision was all his maybe combined with a bit of being a sheep and poor advice, although he’s totally owned it... the torture continues for us

Let's be honest, we only stuck by him because he was so good, lesser players have been moved on. We're not exactly sticking by Reynolds now are we? There's no loyalty from any club so players shouldn't need to show loyalty.

@gallagher can also totally agree with this. Great point and somewhat sad I reckon👎

Very sad he left, devastating. I blame those running the club the way it's been run though, I can't blame players of his quality wanting out.

Many on this forum never recognised Tedesco as the best FB in the game (the grass is always greener .._ :rage: ), they would say that Tedesco is the read book, an old dog that cannot be thought new tricks, that his running style is wrong, that his sweeping runs are not effective against a good defence etc, etc. So they were happy to move our best FB ever, to a centre or to swap him for Moylan or Wighton ???:-1: :rage:

@InBenjiWeTrust I think most people knew Tedesco was the best fullback in the game. Reality is though, is he's become a better player at the Roosters which sucks.

Teddy has a history of it e.g. canberra signing then backing out. His parents are loaded it was never about money not a nice human but a great footballer
