Tell me what job is only available to white people?

Tell me what school is only available to white people?

Tell me what establishment bans entry to non-whites?

Tell me what positions are reserved for white people?

I mean, if white people have all the privileges in Australia, you should be able to rattle off a dozen examples of each before i finish typing this sentence.

And when you have finished that, i would like an explanation as to why so many non-whites are so successful in Australia. Have they used skin lightening products and culturally appropriated white privilege from the whites? Or is Australia just a great country to live in if you work hard and make the right choices?

Obviously @Abraham you don't get it. White privilege isn't a legislation (it used to be!) it is a social circumstance. You can't claim credit for it and it's not your fault either. But it exists.

And you have it backwards anyway - what jobs aren't available to white people, specifically men? What schools won't accept white kids? What establishments won't happily serve white straight men? That's the privilege. The privilege isn't some law for white exclusivity, it is the sociopolitical circumstances that give white people an inherent advantage in Australia.

It's also not exclusionary. White privilege doesn't mean that non-whites are locked out or that all whites are successful. It's just an inherent advantage to white people, especially men.

Now the fact that you don't understand this, that you suggest it's only down to hard work or smart choices - well that's insulting to minorities in a way that I can't truly understand as a white male. The fact that you are arguing that privilege doesn't exist shows just how privileged you are - that you are unable to see it.

not having kids out of wedlock

I have 2 kids born out of wedlock and I earn 3.2 times the average NSW wage. So hooray for me for overcoming my bad decision-making! In fact, because I saved money by not having a wedding, I have extra money to spend on my kids!

In fact I also left the Catholic church 20 years ago, so there's another disadvantage I have successfully overcome!

In fact the church is the only place where I am legally discriminated against, as a middle-aged, middle-class, university-educated straight white male. But even then, they still let my kids go to a Catholic school because they need the numbers! They need the numbers and they hope, ever so slightly, that maybe I'll return to the fold!

@Abraham you do understand the meaning of privilege don't you? When used in this context white privilege are your circumstances and the advantages that come from those circumstances. You cannot tell me that there are not advantages to being born white in our society , that is a simple fact. No one is asking you to feel guilty about the circumstances you're born into, no one is really asking you to do anything about it outside of the acknowledgement that those advantages are there

What privileges are given to a white person who grows up in a public housing ghetto, with a single mother on welfare who is the 2nd generation of welfare dependency in that family.

And to be fair never thought about my so-called ‘disadvantages’ in my youth because it was about evolving and adapting. I knew I’d have a chance because of the fact I’m white. Can the same be said for all Indigenous folk?

I don't know why it has any relevance... but having been to the pyramids it's hard to imagine any race building them, but Egyptians were white (apart from a small number of Nubians). Greeks were white and invented mathematics as we know it. Easter Island? Probably Polynesian.
