You realise this was after JT signed right? Check the date. I posted it in hope that people would connect the timeline themselves.

The fact that was missed says a bit. Probably most of the anti JT arguments are being made from mis-information… Or an ignorance of it.

Our position was always going to be a disaster as far as the cap was concerned
If he didn't do some checking before signing, then he's also an idiot.
The cap position generally was known for a long time, and wasn't helped by his vendetta against RF. which resulted with paying most of it out for not much financial advantage.
The part that you ignore is the fact that despite all details weren't being available when he signed , most of it was pretty obvious .
Most of us here were aware that we were a basket case, yet The prospective coach wasn't?? Give us a break.
He got the job he wanted. Let's see if it's all BS, like his defensive coaching.

Are you serious GCT ??

So you think that the club would grant him access to all Wests Tigers files on players , contracts , staff before he signed ??

I don't think everyone on here had any idea what idiotic crap Mayer had done

Most on here thought the sun shone from his derriere , no matter how much you tried to warn them , all because he would get on twitter , quite ironic for that twit actually

He got the job and I'd be surprised if any other coach would of done much better given the circumstances

Let the guy serve his 3rd season and see what happens , if we don't make the 8 , he is good as gone

The debacle which resulted from JT's handling of the RF issue should have seen his appointment terminated. And you write of this fool deserving a 3rd year? Please spare me.

And Robbie and his manager can do whatever they like without any repercussions according to you

You keep playing with fire eventually you'll get burnt

Shouldnt you be on the Souths forum now, Sam?

Really Mrs Taylor,

Yeah JT really learnt him good didn't he! What was it, a reported payout which has the likes of GNR and the other Taylor fan boys up in arms because there idol can't attract more reserve graders to the team.

We really do have the saddest bunch of supporters.

No GNR we have a great forum made up of true WTs supporters and members…..its the odd one or two who cant get over people being moved on because of their negative influence on the young team endeavouring to come to terms with what its like to play NRL...everyone has to start somewhere, some come to the end of their career but cant let go without feeling they are the WTs wholly and soley....and the people who put them on a pedestal......

I wish they'd hurry up announce the cap for 2018\. We're spinning our wheels with these contracts till they do announce it I think.

sad part about this situation is that if Taylor can't make the 8 with this roster, and gets punted, then the new coach that comes in gets a full cap to play with to pick and choose. Pretty unfair if you ask me, the bloke that came in, in a club crisis, does all the dirty work that puts players and some fans ( or ppl that follow the club) offside by making the hard decisions that everyone before him was too gutless to make, gets nothing but an ended career and an unjust stench… he deserves another year just for having the balls to be the bloke that changed the culture of the club by getting rid of the boys club and running this team instead of the players running it. All this talk of accepting mediocrity, gez.... the club has been below average since its inception.... it's about time stuff changed, and judging by how upset are on here, it's clearly the right pathway. Give him a year with a full cap to show his worth.... if there is no improvement then sure. Bellyache wouldn't make the 8 with this cut price bargain basement roster. But I guess that doesn't matter to some professional coaches around here.

He could wind up being the sacrificial lamb I've always suspected we'd have after Sheens. It probably would have been Potter if his hands weren't tied, but now we have a coach who has free reign, I feel he's clearing the decks for his successor to have a field day should he be punted.

At least everyone is in the same boat

Clubs can at least try and line up their ducks and drakes

Why does every thread have to degenerate into this same old crap fight! Move on - please!!!

Nailed it Flip. You are a good example as you have moved on, whilst virtually all the crap in this thread and others is a hangover from those still clinging to their perceived version of a singular role Taylor played in the Farah saga.

Sad really, as for at least one of them, it hinders what could otherwise be good forum discussion.

Its hard , you see all the garbage people bring up about Taylor and the current admin and people just can't see the bigger picture

Some people are too hard too please , this was always going to be a long hard road to fix all our issues and some people are just far too impatient and want quick overnight solutions

A novel idea but perhaps JT could have coached the best out of the players contracted to the club at the time. He knew exactly the roster he had and no doubt was aware of the funding constraints. No one forced JT to sign a contract (he could have taken up one of the many offers he had elsewhere at the time) and no doubt instead of the Taylor fan boys whinging about constraints to the roster, their energy could be better spent convincing their idol to move to another club deserving of his talents.

Its too tiring to argue with someone who just plain ignores facts. Cap situation was not clear and the strategic goals were also set before these were known.

If Mayer was still here, sure, fire him. But at the moment, you're shooting the ranger, not the poacher.

How much clearer could Go Be?
She plainly said that it would take three years to sort it out.
No matter whether you like him or loathe him as a Coach. Face Facts. He knew the cap problems the club had, but as it was the last chance saloon for him , he didn't have any alternative. I recall one thing that was said when he was appointed, that he was prepared to work with what we had.

So despite him knowing our position, nothing less than exceeding expextations would be considered a pass mark? You don't like the man, that much is obvious. And your dislike is stopping you from being objective.

He doesnt need to exceed expectations he just has to meet them. What was the clubs 3 year plan? Top 8 last year, top 4 this year. I know you hate talking about defence but he has taken us backwards in defence. The funny part is if you call out taylor on these things its because its a personal thing, what a joke. Having an opinion on the coach does not make me or anyone else less of a supporter than someone who blindly follows the coach no matter what.

Questioning the coach is fine. It's those taking joy in the club struggling under Taylor and arguing that all the positives that have occurred under him come with disclaimers I question.

Can I just say this. Cut the Crisis talk. Newcastle are in crisis, they had better hope for good juniors because I can't see them improving from 16th. Parra are a club in Crisis, can't see them doing better then 15th and their coach and their fans are holding the frigging reins together. Manly are a club in crisis, their board is a family shop who thinks it's their way or the highway, I doubt they will go better then 14th and they are trashing a top 4 culture.

St George isn't in Crisis, their coach isn't performing and were doing better then them.

Were a club that's building. We are putting the right people in the right positions to actually make a difference in the comp. Were like Penrith minus the great rugby ego. Our big issues of Magpies vs Balmain are finally dying down and good management seems to be coming in. Taylor did not sort that crisis, but it's sorted.

What's done with RF is done, I hope the guy will come back when this is all over and still cheer on the fans… but for now we target his red/white/green arse. Lets leave the RF/Taylor/Ayoub (can we just fire all of Sam Ayoub's players. Seriously why do we want to deal with this guy at all! Yes he finds talent but the cost of his involvement is too high and I don't blame him for the RF saga).

We won't be a top 4 side with the guys we have. We however have been punching around NR9 for almost every year I have followed our team. With a $750,000 cap drain I expect us to come 7th or 8th because our talent is smartening up. If Taylor ain't in the 8, we can replace him but only if someone better really comes knocking. Geoff Toovey, Ivan Cleary or Brad Arthur would be likely candidates (unless Des gets kicked from the dogs)... but they arn't exactly better then Taylor.

Taylor, I know you can move us from 9th -> 8th. Boys make it happen.

We had to forgo the open market for 3 years. Almost unheard of. If that's not a team at crisis point idk what is.
