The possibility of a roster cleanout?

For me I would have nothing against us getting rid of everyone that is of contract except woods and teddy. As for the rest including the halfs. None of them have produced the football we need to make the finals. We have had many of years of rubbish footy and I for one think a massive ovehaul is needed.

Hmmmm? Nofoaluma is playing better than anyone, tigers should be making him top priority as well.

Not really. Nofo is a great player but he's a winger and wingers shouldn't get paid the big bucks.

Hopefully there is a clean-out, but for it to be effective we need to start from the top of our top 25 to ensure we have coin to actually buy quality talent. Moving on the Kevs & Kyles aint gona put us in any position to buy better stock.

So where do we start? Do we let Teddy walk and buy ourselves a handy Fullback like Jordan Kahu? It might sound dumb, but it also allows us to buy another Centre/Backrower for the same coin we wouldve spent just on Teddy? 2 handy NRL Players for the price of 1?

Its not as if we are gona win anything while we surround the Teddys with plodders… So who do we get rid of next?

If Naiqama was smart he'd take up the first ESL deal the came up on offer.

Naquima played for Penrith when Cleary was coach and as such their would be some likelihood that he won't be shown the exit door in 2018\. There is an article in today's Daily Telegraph.

On the locker room podcast interview naiqama earlier this year they were talking about his time at penrith and he said something along the lines of he found it really hard to play under cleary, he basically left him in state cup and didn't give him any advice on how to improve his game or what he needed to do to play regular NRL. He said some players rate cleary really highly but he found it really hard playing under him

I'll link the interview if I can find it

Maybe Cleary thought that there wasn't much he could do to fix Kevi's game and that Reserve grade was about as good as he got.

If he cant make the simplest of tackles (as evidenced in last week game on JAC) then what can a coach do for him?

Brooks, Moses and Woods. Start from scratch,

Your right.

Thurston couldn't win games for us with our pack. So it seems silly to invest so much money in our backs when it will mean an ordinary forward pack, therefore a poor win record.

We have to let Moses go IMO. He is commanding too much money which will hinder our ability to buy the players required to surround our spine. An average half behind a winning pack is better than a very good half behind a beaten pack. So lets get our pack right.

I know Kahu is off contract but why would he leave the Donks to come to us when he left us to go to the Donks for peanuts originally …I guess we could offer him a million bucks now Teddy's out the door...

Be realistic if we can't keep our own juniors worth keeping ..we are going to have to pay overs to attract even slightly above average NRL First Graders...

Basically we are screwed..

With a new coach coming could we see a Manly style roster cleanout?

Players I wouldn't mind leaving:
Kevin Naiqama, Kyle Lovett, Joel Edwards, Jordan Rankin, Justin Hunt, Watson Heleta.

We already have a thread on this:
