Our recruitment this year is the best it has ever been, just have a look at these signings, two big name players are included

Matt Ballin
Tim Grant
Josh Addo Carr
Josh Aloiai
Michael Chee-Kam
Joel Edwards
Rod Griffin
Jordan Rankin
Jesse Parahi
Jack Littlejohn
Billy McConnachie
Justin Hunt

With out losses being

Sitakeli Akoula
Salesi Funaki
Keith Galloway
Matt Lodge (sacked)
Te Maire Martin
TIm Moltzen
Martin Taupau
Pat Richards
Matt Woods

IMO the ins far outweigh the outs, as much as i would have loved to keep Keithy the new interchange rule wouldn't suit him. Salesi and Martin would have been nice to keep but you can't keep them all. Taupau was after the money that we couldn't offer, greatly over rated anyway.

Looking forward to seeing all our new recruits in action.

I imagine there will be some hits and misses amongst the new recruits, but it's definitely an improvement defensively.

From the Outs the only one that hurts in Tapau…but no way is he worth $600k+ per season....$450-$500 tops.

Its a position we were light on in… The club can't be faulted d for this recruitment
Be just has to do his job, ten to fifteen per carry and help tighten the ruck, his experience we also be a huge asset

Whilst I will miss Keefy, it would seem that the club has managed to retain Ava and now picked up Grant as well with the monies saved, so it is now a thumbs up from me.

I must admit the recruitment hasnt been bad.

With Grant i really feel our pack isnt too bad now.

Woods,Grant,Ava and Sue is pretty good metres and sting.

Impossible for me to see any negative about this. We've picked up a player whose played Origin for most likely next to nothing. At 27 his best days are arguably are ahead of him. Sometimes players just need a change of scenery to find their feet again, we have a pretty good recent history for that happening to players we sign fwiw.

Tim Grant said that the reason behind his dip of form was the fewer minutes he was playing, apparently WT have offered him the opportunity to play more minutes, imagine he hits his NSW form and we have Woods and Grant playing 60 minutes a game at top form.

Good God

Would be good wouldn't it. Even better if we also get klemmer in '17.

Aw man. Wont even miss Marty if we end up with big Klemmer as well

I am hearing ( so, yes a rumour.) that Klemmer's manager is offering him at $700,000.00 per season. At that price, not for us.

Never understood the obsession with Klemmer. Good young forward but no world beater and definitely not worth anything like $700k a year. Has he got the same agent as Taupau perhaps?

Sadly if you want to buy establish quality players you have to pay big dollars. The market place sets the price and Iam sure there will be plenty of bidders for Kemmerer. I would take him at 700 but it would depend on what our major needs are come 2017…a lot can change in 12months

I know it won't be popular but i don't see this signing as a major coup. Yes he played a couple of origin games in 2012 and this is the time in his career when he should be at the top of his game but for me he has regressed dramatically since then. The Panthers dropped him to NSW Cup, he got limited time at the bunnies and for me gives away far too many silly penalties. I can't see him getting anymore minutes here than he did at souths, i'm guessing 20-25 a game. All this talk of signing origin players is a bit much, Matt Ballin played 1 game when Cameron Smith was out in 2010 and Tim Grant hasn't been mentioned for over three years and hasn't been relevant in the NRL either for this period. Whilst i agree both are solid players neither is going to make our starting 13 and Grant might be the only 1 to make the 17 so I wouldn't get too excited about these signings. The only good things that have come out of these signings is the depth has improved and for both players their old teams are paying part of their wages which is a welcome change.

I don't think anyone is thinking we have a world beater on our hands.

I dunno, young Milky seems to believe that Grant is ths second coming of Webcke by the sounds. Love your enthusiasm Milk, hope it rubs off on the team this season

Not really, i just think that he could improve big time, NSW honours are high expectations, i know but Grant is coming towards the end of his career, if he doesn't work out at WT it is clear that he won't be playing anymore footy in Australia. He needs a big last contract and that is what he is playing for other than reputation.

IMHO, only Woods, Scott and Bromwich are worth 500k-600k all other props should be lucky to get more than 350k-400k.

Grant has something to prove.
No one rates him at the moment.
This is his chance to silence the critics and prove them wrong.

He'll be hungry come round 1.

Some players at this level quite often need an opportunity to prove what they can do….many of our new recruits will also be in the same boat....by opportunity I mean good game time and a chance to improve on form that has wavered or been injury prone....

I honestly think that Grant in particular will be a shining light in our forward pack, his experience and maturity will do wonders for the younger guns....just my opinion, but everybody deserves a fair chance to show what they can do,and that goes for the coach as well,JT has done a good job on recruiting, let him put his team together and coach them the way he sees fit...we can all be critical, especially when we are not in their shoes...

Props with good motors will become more valuable with the interchange going down (and possibly further in coming years).

Plus, the salary cap keeps jumping. Currently $6.1mil for top 25 (which doesn't include TPA's or $600k Marquee Player or $100k Motor vehicle allowance), expecting to go up more in 2017.

The $700k figure might include $300k of TPAs or something…you never really know.

I personally would love the play at Klemmer. Imagine that with Woods, Klemmer, Grant and Ava.. Jessie in to 2nd row with deno retiring. Our back 7 are already pretty sweet, just need experience.

I hope you're right, but I would have thought that he would've been hungry in round 1 last years but he continued his disappointing form all season.
His record shows some flashes of good form, but the majority of it is very ordinary for someone who had the ability to play Origin.
I may be wrong about him, but that sort of form has been with him for so long that I can't see him doing much else in 2016.
I'd be expecting one , or even both of the Ipswich blokes being more value to us this year than Grant.
Anyway it won't be long before we find out, one way or the other.

Wouldn't think about Klemmer at 700 k, Tolman would be better value at half that, gets no press ,but gets the job done week in week ou

I think with the cap raising from 7 mill to 11 mill in the next few years 700k would be the new norm for a marquee forward

Klemmer is 22 and Woodsy 24, I would love nothing more than a prop pairing of these two for the next 8 years or so

Klemmer is going to be great
