I think the thing I like about Grant is he brings a little aggression to our front row. There's a bit of attitude there. He doesn't mind getting in the face of the opposition and I think our props have lacked that in recent years. I think that although our guys, Woodsy, Keith, Ava etc have played it tough they don't get as fired up as some e.g. Warea-Hargreaves, Thaiday, Klemmer.

I don't mind players bringing attitude , but its a waste of time if they

1/can't back it up

2/ actually aren't respected as a hard man

Taupau seems to fall into category 2\. Pretty much all p%#% and wind and winking at himself in the mirror. When Nuasala shoved Sue in the move at Leichhardt last season big Marty just stood right there and didn't do a thing. Neither did Sue unfortunately.

I remember this. Key moment in the game & neither of our boys stood up. Hopefully the likes of Edwards, griffin, madness & grant will add some steel to our pack.

Yeah it was disappointing our boys didn't stand up to FPN after that incident, I reckon the Raiders knew they had us beat from that moment onwards.

Tim Grant is a like-for-like replacement for Keify and younger. Both are fringe Origin players and are big, tall, lanky and aggressive. Interestingly, Keify and Grant had similar stats for 2015 season as detailed respectively:

Avg Tackles per match: 23
Avg Hit ups per match: 10 & 11
Avg metres made per hit up: 10 & 11

Id be interested in time on field.

I know Grant was in the 30's and Im assuming Sauce would have been in the 40's or more!

Our weak Mental toughness was exposed and like you said from that point on they had us beat FTB

I think the guy who will put his hand up will be Seumanufagai.
He seemed to get better and more aggro as the year went on - plus he's got the size to back himself.
He's my smokey for the biggest improver this year amongst a team of improvers.

Don't think Keithy would be to impressed you were thinking he was 40 something, he was talking about minutes played per game.

I think that although our guys, Woodsy, Keith, Ava etc have played it tough they don't get as fired up as some e.g. Warea-Hargreaves, Thaiday, Klemmer. Not saying a team can't play well without this type of prop but I think to some extent our pack has been seen as a little soft by the opposition for a few years now. Pretty tough on their day but there hasn't been much to intimidate other packs. Ellis toughened them up a little when he was here and Tapau was explosive at times but I don't think there's been enough of that in our pack for some time. I think McConnachie might also provide similar bursts of energy during games like Grant when, and if, he gets used to the NRL. And Sauaso Sue has shown he can match it for toughness with anyone. These guys can bring an ättitude" to our front row that probably has been a little lacking for a few years now. If that is also reflected in the team's attitude to defence then it's a win win situation.

In this league actually finding out who can back it up is nigh impossible, they tend to stand toe to toe, push one another etc. But some guys will be more aggressive through their actions, usually in the ruck. We've certainly lacked in that area for a long time I feel and perhaps it's contributed to our inability to slow the ruck. Grant, McConnachie and Griffin might help in that regard. McConnachie looks an aggressive player in defence but at NRL level he'll be asked a few more questions. Still, can see him providing some real energy off the bench. Griffin looks a bloke who can wrestle a bit, tackles ball and all and can hold an opponent up but, again, at NRL level he'll find it tougher.
