The Robbie Farah jibe that led to the rift with Wests Tigers coach Jason Taylor

WE can’t tell you when the feud between Robbie FarahandJason Taylorwill end — but we can reveal when it began.

As the fight between the Wests Tigers legend and current coach continues with Farah last week speaking to three Sydney-based NRL clubs, The Sunday Telegraph can reveal rugby league’s most destructive split began back in October, 2014 when Taylor declared his skipper “selfish’’ for refusing a request to knock back an Australian Test jersey and train with the Tigers.

Farah has been the loser as his relationship with Taylor broke down.
Sources close to the pair claim the high-profile duo fell out when Farah opted to put his country before his club and take up a rare chance to wear the green and gold No. 9 jersey owned by Cameron Smith.

Farah considered snubbing the Roos at the request of his new coach but decided not to after seeking advice from family and friends. We have been told Taylor called Farah “selfish’’ and the wily hooker replied by saying “well, that is a decision you have never had to make’’ referring to the former Wests, Norths, Northern Eagles and Eels player’s lean representative career which consisted of just two games for NSW and three for City.

Farah has received serious interest from South Sydney, St George Illawarra and Parramatta, but none has tabled a formal offer.

The chance to represent Australia was too good to miss for Farah.
MEANWHILE, leading player manager Isaac Moses is pushing hard to get Todd Payten to replace Taylor.

Moses manages the Tigers’ star halves Luke BrooksandMitchell Moses and has told officials the duo stand a better chance of staying at the club long term if Payten, currently NYC coach at the Cowboys, snatches the reins.

Absolute rubbish.. Who makes this stuff up? And Payten, lol how convenient. "And they'd have a better chance of staying, um, if the Tigers brought back Benji and Heighno and made Robbie assistant coach" :unamused:

Obviously Sam Ayoub got his journalist mate to write the article. It'd been 5 minutes without a Farah story being in the newspaper so he had to get something written.
I don't care who's right and who's wrong. I'm sick of hearing about it. I just want to watch football.

A coach denying a Kangaroo jumper to his player is selfish.

And as if Farah was going to get Cameron smiths jumper more to the point and probably why the coach took that view

I remember reading something about this incident when it was fresh (but not what was said or the jibes), from memory JT was newly appointed and he wanted Robbie to NOT join the Kangaroos in the off season as he was scheduled for some sort of surgical operation which meant he had to delay it if he joined the Kangaroos but naturally Robbie refused.

I'll try to dig up the article but no promises.

Gutter journalism waiting till game day to print these kinds of articles.

Grow up - it's because it's game day that they write stories related to the teams that are playing.
If there's an accident on the Harbour Bridge today do you want them to report it next week in case it upsets someone involved in the crash?

So you support potentially destabilising articles on game day?

Is that you Robbie?

New Tigers coach Jason Taylor asked Robbie Farah to sacrifice his Test jumper for the club

JASON Taylor’s opening fortnight at Wests Tigers has left no one in any doubt about who is calling the shots at the notoriously divided Concord headquarters.

Aside from sacking club legends Steve Roach and Paul Sironen, Taylor asked captain Robbie Farah to consider sacrificing his Australian Test jumper in order to be fresh for the start of pre-season on November 5.

Farah, the Tigers most influential player on and off the field, requires a nose operation to help repair his breathing.

Robbie Farah needs a nose operation to help improve his breathing.
The procedure means the Australian Kangaroos back-up hooker will be sidelined from contact training for six weeks after the operation, interrupting his pre-season.

Aware Farah is the Tigers most important player, Taylor sounded out his new captain to consider pulling out of the Four Nations with a view to immediately undergoing the knife.

But with only seven Test jerseys in his collection and appearing certain to be selected for the opening Four Nations Test against New Zealand next Saturday, foregoing the green and gold was no small ask for Farah.

“Robbie considered it long and hard and what pleased me the most was he was prepared to put Wests Tigers and my wishes above Robbie Farah and playing for Australia, which is a very big call,” Taylor said.

“When we worked it out he was going to be unavailable for a similar amount of time anyway so in the end we finished in a really good place on it.

“It was a good process for both of us to go through.”

Kangaroos coach Tim Sheens will select Farah on the bench for the opening Test, with four of the Kangaroos rookies selected in the squad of 24 set to make international debuts.

South Sydney’s Dylan Walker is tipped to be chosen at right centre with fellow Kangaroos rookie Josh Mansour on the right wing, with Sydney Roosters flyer Daniel Tupou and Wests Tigers prop Aaron Woods also set to win maiden Kangaroo jumpers.

Manly’s Daly Cherry-Evans will be selected at five-eighth to replace the injured Johnathan Thurston, opening up a position on the bench for Farah.

Farah said he respected the way new coach Taylor handled the request to sit out the Four Nations.

“We spoke about it. It was always planned to get my nose fixed up,” Farah said.

“When we had a talk JT floated the idea of getting it done straight away and I could understand where he was coming from.

“At the same time it’s not every day you get the opportunity to play for your country and realistically this could be my last chance.

“There’s no tour at the end of next season so it could be the last opportunity for me to pull on the green and gold.

“You never take for granted representing Australia because you never know when your last chance might come. It’s a huge honour and so in the end we found a way to make it work.”

Farah will turn 31 in January and will once-again form a key element of NSW Blues coach Laurie Daley’s State of Origin campaign against Queensland in the middle of next season.

I don't have a high opinion of the way that Robbie has been treated in this fiasco. I don't have a high opinion of JT and whoever is backing him or maybe even causing the drama that is occurring now.

I don't though believe that this drama has anything at all to do with that article. How the media is allowed to make up this crap astounds me. It's as believable as some of the stuff that I've read on here regarding Robbie.

I remember something similar. These sorts of stories are probably a dime a dozen in the NRL, but it only gets aired through the media at one club.

Yeah, it definitely happened. Not sure about the jibes tho but we were doomed from the start if true.
