The Roosters

Before the season started I thought they'd miss the 8 this year. Long way to go I know, but I think this is gonna be the case. I have absolutely no sympathy for them. Can't stand the buggers.

I have never liked them since they turned against long haired males back in sixties and seventies -it is a wonder they let our Captain play on their home ground. But for an inter-club event they let me in no hassles.

From Wiki: from 1963 to 1966, they won 8 of 72 matches, finishing second to last in 1964 and last in the other three years.[21]

Very boring game indeed, for the life of me I don't understand why JT, Morgan or even Granville were taken off after the 50th-60th minute when the game as well and trully over?

i was thinking that too. then i realised granville had gone to the sideline for concussion which means they had no one else to cover the halves or hooker. plus 8 interchanges probably tied the coach's hands.

Havnt looked at the draw - love to play them before Pearce returns - not because I think he is the answer to all their woes, just feel they will lift when he returns.

He will make a huge difference to them as Pearce has been the core of that side for a good while now. Great player, just hasn't been able to take it up another notch at rep level

They look eerily similar to WT of recent times with a mostly novice, albeit talented spine

my 19 year old son said to me last night, i don't remember the roosters ever being crap, i started thinking, has the roosters been that good for over a decade?

obviously good management…hehehehe

They were crap a year or two before Robinson started, they finished last or second last IIRC.

Roosters are pathetic. Three rounds in I can't remember Jackson Hastings forcing a single line drop-out, but I remember him numerous times overcooking a grubber by a mile.

This is all good for Newcastle, with the Warriors also about to join them on 0-3.

thanks CB, it's seems like a bleep on the radar, just like now i suspect.

Just looking at it they've done the following since 2006:

2006 - 14th
2007 - 10th
2008 - 4th (Semis)
2009 - 16th
2010 - 6th (Grand Finalists)
2011 - 11th
2012 - 13th
2013 - 1st (Premiers)
2014 - 1st (Prelims)
2015 - 1st (Prelims)

So they're 5/10 when it comes to making the finals in the last ten years. It's really only the last three years that have made them look good.

Interestingly, it's from 1996 until 2004 they made the finals 9 years consecutively.

thanks CB

Quite correct CB,the trouble is they are a club that can bounce back from adversity, they still have talented players to come back, that's what can make the difference between a good year and a bad one.. I haven't much cared about the Roosters over the years,no interest to me,but can never be discounted completely…..

I like the look of Mitchell who reminds me (his fend) of a certain player. But I know the Roosters are not better at identifying talent, they simply have more money to throw at younger players than clubs like ours. The sooner that significant discounts are available in the cap for local juniors will see the end of the Chooks. Bring it on.

This game really got me thinking…the Roosters have two rookie halves and a young fullback and are suddenly chicken feed. The Cowboys didn't get out of second gear. I know we gave our halves plenty of stick last year but the comparisons are very interesting. If you turn back the clock to our boys when they were both debuting trying to run a team, I would have to say they looked fair bit better and a lot more creative. We were at least scoring tries but lacking in consistency. The Rooster halves are totally lost and only looked like scoring tries from kicks or long range breaks from SKD.

I think this puts into perspective how hard it is to run an NRL team with two rookie halves and the learning curve these kids would of got last year was invaluable and I believe we will see the benefits of that this year. We can see it paying off already. Just some food for thought.

Their fullback, and halves have bright futures in the league indeed

I think our 3 are far better players now and into the future.
