Given the article in the smh on Sheens future safe at the Wests Tigers…...it certainly deserves a poll......

C'Mon.....Sheens supporters and detractors alike .....tell me what you really think?

Comments welcome........

Given Folkes will bring a fresh change, I'm sure if they work together closely they can be an effective combination.

If we're struggling mid-season, punt him.

This has to be the toughest decision the club has made in a long time. So many if's and but's. I support those who say his record at the Tigers is not good enough. And not many coaches stay at one club for so long, expecially with such little success, so those 2 things say to me its time for a change.

But…......

most are expecting big things from us next year, and if we are in the top 4 half way through the year, how do u possibly sack the coach?

For me its a wait and see situation. I think the club should start negotiations with Tim but should hold off finalising anything until its evident we are still headed in the right direction on the back of our 09 end of season success.

I dont care if Joe Blow is our coach as long as we are winning..........so if Tim has FINALLY realised his mistakes and is about to embark on successful tigers campaign over a number of years, then im happy to keep him. But if he starts next year poorly, then BYE BYE.

The most important thing in all this is to make sure we DONT re'sign him for just one more year. That will leave him off contract when John Lang is, and at the same time Marshall, Lawrence, Ellis and Galloway are off contract. I'd hate to see him collect a nice yearly salary in 2011 from the tigers while the whole year he spends time getting our stars signed for Souths for the following season. Its either a 2 year extension or nothing at all.

To me its too early, 4 seasons without finals yet he gets another contract extension before the season has even started.

I would prefer if they waited until midway through the season, if we're in the top 6, then re-sign him.

They should discuss the contract with Sheens now, and if we're well into the top 8 around halfway through the season, give him the contract and he can sign it no dramas at all, so there isnt so much speculation.

I almost feel as though they want to re-sign Sheens now because next season looks very optimistic, in other words, I feel as though they want to re-sign him based on our off season signings.

Hahaha….exactly.....very forgiving our supporters are.....

better the devil you know.sheens has had a massive influence over the careers of our young stars, such as marshall, farrah, lawrence, moltzen, etc. if he were to leave i dont know what would happen to these players.would they stay or go? i would hate to see this club have to rebuild again.

If the Tigers are performing strongly and winning games then I'm open to keeping Sheens. If the club is struggling and injuries are not to blame, then start shopping around by all means. Sheens has no excuses next season, the club has recruited well, there is some exceptional talent coming througth the grades, the coaching/performance staff has been strengthened with Folkes coming on board and overall the Tigers have a stronger lineup than last year.

I ticked yes but not with confidence.Team selection is my main gripe with Sheens

My main concern with extending his contract is if we fall short for a fith season in a row surely he would get the punt & then a hefty pay out would follow & we are not the richest of clubs

what do you think geo.?

Tim Sheens gets my vote would like to see Simmons go and Fokes as assistant but with the roster we have this season if we dont make the top 4 not the eight he should go

Gotta agree with the team selection thing but on the field set plays e.t.c the guy is a genius.Which makes me think with his genius on the field maybe he knows something we dont when it comes to selections.Yes we have missed the finals the last 4 years but only just each year.We were inches away from being this years parra had we not got those two early injuries against parra we would have beaten them and gone onto the grand final as we were the two form teams his stats would look a lot better then two grand finals in 4 years.

Now is this a media thing or is it Sheens holding a gun to the boards head??? In light of the last four long years, I say its way to early to be making any calls on 2011\. Maybe the board has to be givie Sheens a few bench marks to achieve by mid season before any contracts talks begin. Of course if he dosnt like this and talks of walking and dragging a few high profile players with him, so be it .

I liked what a saw in the second half of last season and if Sheens can get that sort of things going early 2010 I would extend his contact for a few years, but if after 10 weeks we are in hole its good by tiger tim

Tim to Stay for sure - He is held in very high stead with the players and is now Australian coach which will increase the clubs attraction to players.

Dont forget our club is a relativley young club with not as much money to throw around. The right people are being brought in and the facilities upgraded year on year…

B4 Tim got here we didnt even have a perminent training ground. He set up Concord.

To the many detracters (ommited word=whingers) Not good ennough to have him leave with out someone better to step in.

Who else is better????

Top 4 is the minimum Req.

Yeah lets sack the Australian coach and bring in….who.

Someone said "better the devil you know". That sums it up for me. He's no Bellamy or Bennett, but he's the next best thing and has turned this club around. Its all so easy to blame a coach for getting us within one game of the finals but not over the line. The way I see it is he's done about all he can and the players need to step up.

By the way, all those saying wait to mid year and see if were in the 8 or 4 before we sign him. Well most years that has been the case mid season with us failing at the last hurdle. Lets just sign him and get on with things. We don't need this sort of distraction for the players. My bet is Sheens knows this would be distracting mid season and whilst to have his own future dtermined early would suit him personally, I think an early decision would suit the team better too.
