Man, the last time I looked they were in a kick in the backside off 4th place, with millions of dollars of talent unavailable through injury. They are achieving resolve and tenacity with half their talent.

Millions of dollars of talent unavailable, millions of dollars of talent available.

I'll just put it to you that this final round Tigers fielded a team without Laurie, Tamou, Doueihi, Mbye, Garner, BJ, Jimmy Jet, Musgrove, Kepaoa, Seyfarth, Packer. Injured or otherwise, that is literally millions of dollars of talent unavailable for Tigers.

Roosters also with significant injury issues - final round fielded a side with Tedesco, Josh Morris, Tupou, Taukeiaho, Liu, Angus Crichton, Tupouinua, Sam Walker.

I don't think it's comparable to exclaim how "well" the Roosters are doing with an injury-ravaged side that is arguable (hell it's not even an argument) that is better than Tigers' first-choice side.

I'd like to see how tough and resilient the Roosters would be if they played without Tedesco, without Crichton; if another of their halves went down. That's not to criticise the Roosters for their recruitment and retention, it's just the reality that even their second-string side is very good.

I think we should just politely agree to disagree.

No, I don't do that, I think you are wrong. No issue though.

No, I think there are issues that you should address for your own wellbeing.

You are obviously someone who needs the validation and adulation of others on here to have some sense of self-worth. You strive to be seen as "right" when all you're offering is an opinion like the rest of us.

That's sad, really. I hope you get some help.

Ha that's comedic. Thanks for your assessment. I assume I did not achieve your adulation then? Darn.

So our identity is a non entity ??

No ..It's pretending to be something it's not..

I have been thinking about this both foundation Clubs were built on battlers who punched above their weight...Clouds of Dust Buckets of Blood ..Black and Gold never fold ..never give up never surrender ..so to speak ..

This mob bang on about awakening the Sleeping Giant.. A glamour destination Club.. the Man U of the NRL ..I have been in meetings and they actually believe it themselves ..it's Rubbish.. we will never be those things..

The sooner they embrace who we are.. A team that fights for every inch no matter what even if you come up short rather than pretenders..we might start to see something of our Identity and some success..

The mob you speak of. I agree with you there.

It frustrates me to no end when we have 20,000 members but the club throw out ridiculous figures like 400,000 casual fans...

It’s like they’ve got a tech guru to survey how many people look up Wests tigers in their search engine.

What proof is there that 400,000 follow the tigers?
I follow the tigers and watch every other team in the comp each week. Would that make me a casual fan of the other 15 teams.

Gimme a break!

The Giant has been in a coma for a long time .....

Gallen needs to give up boxing before it’s to late .

Wests Tigers are an Inner City club with feeders from the South West. The Western Suburbs Magpies failed in the South West, the Wests Tigers have failed in the South West, it’s time to accept that the Wests Tigers are an Inner City club. Wests Ashfield is Inner City as is HQ and now the COE. By all means build an academy in the South Wests to develop talent as a feeder but understand Wests Tigers are an Inner City club.

good article. I feel like the fans are typically in agreeance with these things, it's the board that struggle to see the forest for the trees. we're finally getting our ducks in a row in the south-west corridor. more games out at Campbelltown and the academy based out there with some on-field success and we'll blow souths and the dogs out of the water.

Balmain and West tigers have both failed in the inner city aswell though.

Exactly. And what is worse, is far more effort has been put into that for continued failure.

Fair point but really with the HQ & COE at Concord can the Wests Tigers be considered anything other than an Inner City club?

Mike, we are forced to accept it. But I will not accept the talk that we failed in the south west. The club destroyed its own opportunities in the south west by continuing to avoid it. It was self sabotage. And now everyone is saying we should be back there. Well it is too late. We’ve spent 75m on shinny plot on the edge of the inner west. The club has stuck firm in its betrayal of the south west and well they’ll have to lick their wounds as a result.
Just imagine if someone on the back of 05 actually had the balls to shift our operation out there, we would be a one town team with the richest junior catchment area and would of had over a decade of success of young kids striving to play for and support their local team.

I agree that’s the reason but it’s still a failure unfortunately.

Agree with you :100: @Needaname
At the time of the 2005 GF I was living in Prospect in Sydney and took a drive to Wests Leagues Club at CSS to soak up a bit of the atmosphere. They had a giant banner on the outside of the club saying "bring it home boys" in Wests Tigers colours of course.
And as you said "if someone on the back of 05 actually had the balls" etc, how much better our club could be now.

@mike is :100 said:
We cant be anything other than an inner city club, but with tentacles stretching out to the South West, with a few token games at CSS to try to suck the locals in to believing we are their team rather than Souths [who have apparently made a big push into the C'town area] or the Bulldogs.
How very sad that we cant be that 'one team town'.

But wait, there could be more [and I have suggested it previously].
Maybe, just maybe, the NRL could pay WT to re-locate to C'town [which would include $$$ to pay out Wests Ashfield] and become a brand spanking new, fresh, shiny Western Suburbs Tigers [as suggested by one of the journos].

But then as Mike said we have our new COE opening soon at Concord...bugger.
