This is who we are...

Look fellas, I'll be pretty honest here, that game gutted me, really made me question my faith in the club. These are professional footballers, this is what they do for a living, there was about $9 million worth of football talent on display and that is what they put up.
How many times have we heard Madge say "ownership of performance" and "everyone being accountable", times up, hold them accountable.I don't care if he drops the whole team, just make them accountable.
I know I sound like one of those morbid and negative supporters that are happier when we lose type and have nothing positive to say about the team. I'm not, I believe in this team, and put my money where my mouth is each week, but last nights performance made me accept the fact that nothing changes, our one constant is inconsistency and we are just not good enough to play at an elite level. Time to see if I can still get the cash out option for the tigers to be Top 8, Top 4 and Premiers.

This losing culture is a real tragedy for the fans who have endured more than their fair share of disappointment during the last 20 years.
The signs were there that this so called merger of 2 unsuccessful clubs wouldn’t miraculously evolve into one successful club when the highly respected first coach resigned after 1 season.
As supporters we are always hopeful that hiring a winning coach is going to transform losers into winners. Our losing culture has its roots in the admin office. What sort of club pushes out it’s longest serving captain?
If we’re looking for answers we won’t find them in the sheds or on the training paddock.

I just thought our play when we needed points was just one out forward hit ups.....warriors offloads killed us

I think he has been making them accountable, but it's similar to the Broncos....only so many times you can rearrange the deck chairs....

The forwards were rubbish - blame the backs. This kind of thinking from our fans is another sign of who we are - the problems wern't the halves or the centres it was the forwards were dominated and thats what happens to us too often.

Clarke and Garner arent up to NRL standard, McIntyre a centre was playing prop off the bench , Lawrence a backrower was playing in the centres, Twal wasn't ready but even when he is he has less impact wth the ball then Elijah Taylor.

We were out muscled in the middle. We really missed an Eiso or Packer. Brooks on the bench gives us nothing. I can see what Madge is trying to do there in reviewing Brooks, but it leaves us skinny in the middle.

Maybe we have over achieved this year so far. Are we really any better than the other teams in the bottom 8?

We are 2 points ahead of the Warriors and Dragons who have really struggled all year. We can compete with top 8 teams, but cant beat them. We don't have a consistent halves combination. We don't have a goal kicker. The best player we have is on loan to us and can't be part of our long term plans. Possibly one of the best teams we could name tonight was dominated by a team that has been largely thrown together this week so they can stay in the comp. Two of the four wins the tigers have had are against the teams running last and second last. Tigers led the 13th placed Cowboys 34 nil before letting them score four tries in the second half.

Its disappointing and we have seen it happen again and again but a 9th, 10th or 11th place finish might be the absolute best we can get from this season.

You may well be right. How sad is it, that we support a Club who NEVER qualify for Finals, are currently sitting 10th and have possibly OVER achieved. What a poorly run shambles of a Club. Pascoe has been CEO and overseen 5 seasons of this. Does he escape accountability?

The one thing i think our club has missed in its history is taking the woodern spoon. We need it before things will change. Comfortably just outside the 8, is comfortably where we will stay.

9th place which at the moment might be a struggle years end. The culture is not one of success.

In some way the 2005 premiership gave us false hope. Western Suburbs and Balmain prior to enforced marriage were failures then we continued until we had a baby (2005) but as we can appreciate the baby did not fix the underlining issues and we have only stayed together to raise the child.

Look I’m not even disappointed, I knew before the game there was a 60% chance of being disappointed last night and it happened.

True, 80% ahah

About 15 years ago I gave up smoking, I did not think I had the will power, but knew I had to do it. Well I think it’s nearly time to do the same to the Weststigers. Every year I get emotionally smashed and financially burnt.

Serious questions have to be asked about our club. Things like why hasn’t the goal kicking been addressed as it has been a major problem for years, why don’t we have a forward leader, why are we the slowest team in the comp by some distance and why can’t we show some consistency. These questions get thrown up week after week, year after year.

Anyway just yet another rubbish performance, why I am I surprised

In July 1968 on a Thursday night, my dad took me to Lidcombe oval for my first ever Rugby League match. West Magpies played France who was out here for the World Cup. I remember it clearly, football under the rubbish lights at Lidcombe oval . Noel Kelly was the coach but did not play that night. Now, does this sound familiar. Wests scored more tries but missed their goals and lost after the siren to France. I was 7 years old and can remember it clearly. The deflated experience again that I had tonight.

It was so predictable. I mean I said to my son, " Mbye's going to miss this kick at goal.!!!

We all knew tonight's games was a worrying game for our run for the top eight when it should not have been We have seen it now for twenty years. All of us knew at 8 nil up ...............we have not won this.

All of us got annoyed that they only got urgent in the last 5 minutes.

All of us got angry at the poor kicks on the fifth tackle being kicked to the second-best fullback in the world instead of the third-best Jennings brother.......not mention landing 20 metres away from the goal line

All of shook our heads at the fifth tackle options.

All of us wondered why we cant get out of our 20 meters like other sides after receiving a kick.

I follow the Wests Tigers with just as much passion as I did that night when I was 7. I grew up in the Balmain district but followed the Magpies. But I have to put up with this rubbish of a so-called professional club now for 55 years.
There is something wrong with the management of the club.

I mean what club with any idea of what a football roster looks like has big money tied up in six halfs and 5/8s ( Brookes , Walters, Benji , Mbye, Reynolds Doueihi). Of which none seem to be able to run a team.

We still do not have a goal kicker. Just buy one. Any winger faster than Jennings who can kick must be better.

We have not had a center since the two clubs joined 20 years ago. Mbye couldn't break a Jatz biscuit let alone the line.

We have not had a running second row since Gareth Ellis. In fact, he was the last one and only reasonable buy the club has made in 20 years.

We hang on to players way too long. Name me one player the Roosters got rid of who went on to better things in the last 50 years.

Lawrence must go at the end of the year
Benji must go at the end of the year
Brookes needs to be told to test the market
Buy a goal kicker ......go to the UK and get one. Don't care if he cant run get a kicker who will kick at 80%
Get a running second row who is faster than me at 60 years old .
Mybye needs to be sacked as captain, as a centre and as first-grade player
Reynolds must go
Jennings must go.
Somebody (Brett Hodgson) needs to sit with Adam Doueihi and teach him positional play in defense.
Packer must go. Too old next year and too risky
Taylor must be moved on
Walters is not the answer.

Move to one ground and build a fortress
Get a proper head of the football division
Let Madge have 3 years then if no result move him on.
Do not sign him to an extension without results.

So still since that night in July 1968............I have that same old feeling after a game that I have come to expect.

Awesome heartfelt post mate. Send it to Pascoe

Don’t know if anyone noticed the facial expression of Mbye as he approached the kicking tee?
I expect he will be dropped and find it difficult to play back into the team. As I’ve previously posted the club’s culture needs an upgrade, we fail to keep our rising stars, we burn decent players and we occasionally hire a winning coach thinking it will solve everything. We all know that winning starts in the boardroom. So too does losing.

Bravo 👏👏👏 well said !

I feel your pain. As i blatantly refuse to watch another NRL game at the SCG, i watched from the comfort of my loungeroom last night.

In doing so, i saw the Fox footage of Maguire's half-time rant at the players, including kicking his chair into oblivion. Some of the body language/reactions of the players were not of "fear" or "disppointment" ...... it seemed more like "who is this fruitloop?"

The outcome .....we lost the second half 18-6 against a team that, by their own admission, had nothing to play for.

I only hope that Maguire has a Plan B or C or D in trying to get the best out of his players. Becasue, his default Plan A of rant, and scream and intimidate, has already worn thin I think.

Not being on the team list next game will get the desired effect .. if not shown the door at seasons end ,then these pee hearts can continue there careers in reserve grade at another club we’re they belong ..most of these players are reserve graders anyway !
