This merger and all it's stupid issues

I guess Simon proves there are die hard nut bags in both side of the fence.

How am i a diehard nutbag???

I'm happy with the merger…...teams better, crowds better,we a competetive team with multiple clubs.

Happy days......just the moaning about conspiraacies is the only pain in my bum.Ive listened to it for years and barely said a peep.

I can't understand why people keep referring to the last game at Leichhardt against the Storm (GnR). You keep saying it was a poor crowd. figure was 10,834 (more than last sunday), It was raining, The Broncos won on Friday night (we played on Sat night), to make the 8 we needed to beat the side coming 1st by 75 pints to force outr way in the 8\. I give you it was Gareth Ellis' last game but considering the year we had I'd sya that was a good crowd. Oh yeah and Robbie did not play that night.

Yes, but had we won and Canberra lost the next day we would have made it as we were on the same points and their diff was -9 and ours was -25, its not like Brisbane ended our season the night before, we still had it all to play for. Throw in Ellis' farewell and it was a disappointing effort all round both on field and off

too literal GT… A top flight opposition, a season we were going well in before the wheels fell off, promotional advantage of Ellis farewell, and a rainy night vs. Sunny day, cellar dweller opposition, no promo, coming off a pathetic loss, R2 only, new coach (viewed as a rebuilding period), Skipper contract in limbo....

close enough for my likings... 1000 people isnt a stretch either, both are fails on the 13k pass mark.

Not negating the differences i agree with your analysis, but also the closest games to each other rather than digging to find fails.

Does a poor crowd at Leichhardt excuse a poor crowd at Campbelltown? Will a poor crowd on Friday night be written off because we got a poor crowd on Sunday??

Seriously this comparison business is for the birds…

‘‘If we played at Leichhardt on a sunny Sunday we’d fill it,’’

‘‘It’s over a $100,000 turn- around for us in the decision to play here instead of there.’’

for the birds… Always thought Humphreys was a bit of a dodo...

No sob stories from you if we play all our game at Allianz?

that sort of response suggests we play no games at ctown..
we played there on sunday.

I dont know how you came to that conclusion. Some people read what they want to read I guess. I think that we should play one game at LO and CSS per year maximum. So dont try and drag me into a b@tch fight about two sh@tty little grounds. Neither of them are our future.
In regards to my post. You had a litlle 'holier than thou' rant about people just getting on with supporting the tigers and stop whinging. I want to know if you will take youe own advice if we play all our games at Allianz. Simple question.

It's hard to interpret the context behind a one sentence question such as the one you posed, especially when it's completely unrelated to the topic I was discussing - the 50/50 split and people who still whinge about microscopic details.

However, to be drawn into your "point", it's not a simple question. The move would rip the heart out of the original clubs (being balmain and magpies). It would be like changing our jersey to yellow and pink, then asking if we the fans were happy. What do you think?

It's not about 'taking my own advice' because the situations (50/50 split and respect for the old clubs VS a complete move to the eastern suburbs) are completely different with their own separate issues.

However, maybe you should take your own advice and read before you write next time.

Peace bro.

probably should just close it anyway, having a conversation about a sensitive topic without it descending into agenda pushing was a pipe dream.

dudes, this is the stuff that needs to be discussed.
ignoring it and locking the thread, just burys the issue deeper.
let it go for 2000 pages and let people nut it out.

As long as it is discussed in a rational and mature manner. Personal insults and swearing won't be tolerated.

Exactly.

To be honest, I dont understand what fires cause the smoke in the Balmain loyal, but i would like to. It doesnt mean I would agree with them necessarily but it would help me be compassionate to their cause, because now we are family, we wont always agree, but be damned sure I will have no qualm sitting beside them passionately following **our** team.

Not putting it on you Mac, but the banter between you and GNR was about a poor word choice, "Magpies". It unfortunately isolated a core of fans… Had you said "campelltown faithfull" it would have alluded to anyone be they Balmain, Magpie or WT fan who regularly attended the ground. That poor show was a Wests Tigers failure, all of us... I dont think you understood you were even doing it. I want you to be a Balmain fan and a WT fan, I want to be a Magpies fan and a WT fan and personally dont like being called a Balmain fan ( not that it burns, i just kick off a bit of sarcastic banter). Thats all ok by me, we should all be proud.

Please dont take that as a personal attack, its just a recent example, the kind of crap we need to air.

It's a moving feast this discussion - I never mention Humphreys but he keeps reappearing…
He is at least comparing the same game but really it's speculative and doesn't help anyone. We could have played in Christchurch or Gosford and got 15k+ who the hell knows?

Just listened to Robbie Farah's press conference (http://www.weststigers.com.au/news-display/Press%20Conference%20Robbie%20Farah%20re-signs/70487), and found this comment interesting:

"There's time where you get cranky and you get the shits with things that have gone on. But the club means more to me than that. Just because you go through a rough patch, doesn't mean you pack your bags and leave."

I think there's something in that for all of us…

Its a shame we are still talking like its us and them. I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but I am an old Balmain supporter and now I think of myself as a Wests Tigers supporter who used to love Balmain and now has a real affinity with the Wests Magpies of old because they are now like my long lost brothers.

I guess its like someone else said, we are just like one big family and you know how families are? Never a dull moment.
