This merger and all it's stupid issues

You'll notice LaT that i only highlighted the Wests part not the Western Suburbs part meaning i acknowledged your point about the Western Suburbs name. I've never had any issue with the club being referred to by the one name or stated that i have, so im not sure why you direct those comments at me, i suggest you direct them at the people who have the issue cos your starting a whole new argument which i have no interest in debating cos we are actually in agreeance. I just found the Wests part odd as we are called the WESTS Tigers, and calling us Wests is different to calling us Balmain, just like it would be if we were called the Magpies. I hope you can understand

The issue isn't all about you.

Its about a significant part of our fan base losing their minds whenever they feel a slight against their side of the JV.

I put Wests in their specifically because we DO get comments and whinges because people refer to the side as Tigers and not Wests. Either way don't worry your head about it.

So we got called Balmain? Where are the threads when we get called Western Suburbs (I've heard it a few times now)? Its now very much a "woe is me" tail, quite simply its time to move on.

You should have been a bit more clearer on that point as it came across the wrong way

feel let down/embarassed seeing this thread has reached 8 pages tbh

feels we are still years/decades away from getting an individual identity =[

Well when you have commentators after 13 yrs still refer to the team as Balmain, and not just once, but 3 or 4 times in a broadcast, its quite clear we have an identity crisis. Ironic that it happened last night of all nights considering the debating thats been happening on the forum all week

Its a fact of life unfortunately. At the end of the day the majority of the supporter base supported Wests/Balmain for much longer than WT's and those bonds are tough to break. I know you're a young guy and don't have an emotional attachment to either side so its hard to understand. Just try and imagine in another 20 or 30 yrs WT's merging with Penrith and then you might understand why

i know.. but still almost 10 pages on this piece of crap thread whereas you get 5 pages on robbie re-signing, i feel letdown by my fellow supporters.

some people ONLY respond to threads like these.. hardly seen in other threads, there's still a looooonnngg waay to go, i guess

oh also, so what if rabs calls us balmain? he calls aysh as lawrence, calls DCE as foran, sometimes calls luke burt as lote tuqiri. we are from balmain and magpies.. i have no problems if someone calls us that whatsoever. others might, i understand that.. but still doesnt call for such an over reaction

Very good post and I think you will find the person who started this thread should have used a wiser thread title and yes to have 10 pages on this but only 5 on robbie re-signing is a disgrace. You are also right when you say there are certain posters who only post on these type of threads so if they repeatedly just come on these threads its time they got another more constructive past time.Wests tigers are also not helped by the ceo of our club who is the chief architect of division.I can certainly see a theme on this forum in the last few months especially where all people are really starting to make a concerted effort for unity under a wests tigers banner unfortunately we are not being helped by the ceo Stephen humphreys going on a one man crusade to take continual pot shots at western suburbs. Its a shame cause the guy does have good business acumen but he still believes Lilyfield is the centre of Sydney. But on the forum there has been a decided improvement over the last 6 months.Good work everyone.

P.S IM A BALMAIN FAN.

So you have mentioned in nearly every post…......

I'm just not feeling it.

If you tried something new and hopped onto a positive and constructive wests tigers thread you will see I never have to mention the fact im Balmain instead of these useless and divisive threads that you seem to be so driven by.When you are driven by trash whats the end result for you simonthetiger

this thread could go on forever & ever because im afraid these 'stoopid' issues wont dissolve into harmony in our lifetime. What a shame on grown men. They should know better. What kind of example is this to our children.
I hope your children will one day see a 'unified' Wests Tigers.

Agreed totally. This crap has run its course we can quote and requote each other all day with useless dribble but lets all get behind the Wests tigers.

If we were playing at Lidcombe, and got accidentally called the Magpies,I mean Wests Tigers a few times,by a commentator who had been calling the game there for forty years and referring to them as the magpies in that time,Im sure I would be quite ok with it.But dont let that get in the way of yer hilaroius conspiracy theories.

PS…...crowd wasnt bad either.

BS

Im not sure where the future lies with home grounds. Leichhardt isn't the answer and I think they thought too small when they renovated Campbelltown. The South west is huge and it does worry me that the AFL and soccer will move in. I honestly believe all games should be played out of Campbelltown. Im sure the crowds will grow but do they make enough even from a full gate out there?

Here's a hypothetical.. Say it was made known that LO was to hold its final match ever at the end of 2014 would ex Balmain fans be happy with all games at CSS? Or would they prefer a split between SFS,ANZ & CSS?

I think for financial reason we couldn't play primarily out of either ground. I say those grounds should be used for grudge matches like Manly, South, Dogs, Parra, Dragons and Canberra.

Here's something to chew on ….

I can see a time in the future where because of all the bickering and infighting between the hierarchy of all sides of the JV ,the fans /members of the JV that they forget about the one entity known as the WT's and the WT's fold because all sponsors and the sugar daddies are sick to death with it

People may laugh , but it is the single biggest issue this club has that could bring it down ...

But continue to bicker over the tiny morsels of self respect your arguing about and forgot we are one club , with one goal now

This crap has been going on way to long.Pull the pin on the JV and give the contract to a person who value it's.

I would imagine the only reason we have not been a major force in the NRL since 2005 is the bone heads on both sides of the JV who are living in the past and can't get it,that the only way forward is to unite as one.

Think about

We should be less focused on attacking one another and more focused on pinching supporters and juniors from Parramatta and Canterbury. Plug that gap.

Identity crisis is pretty apt imo.

They focussed on old balmain stuff and The ground during the pre lim to tonites game, Ive no probs with that but I think some people get confused when Balmain Tigers legends Blocker & Sirro are working for WTs and talking Wests Tigers - I think some people might put it all together as one…..it becomes blurred for some not so up to date on our club.

**I heard our team called balmain or balmain wests tigers four times tonite...case in point**

Yeah I heard that too - Ray seemed to be on a mission.

Ray constantly gets things wrong. He called Moltzen Humble when he scored his try. He is just a senile old fool.

The week previous goes a long way when attracting crowds, or doesn't it?

Anyway i give up with you, you're clearly somewhere in the 45-60 age group bracket, set in your ways and have no interest in at least understanding where others are coming from, or at least attempting

I'm out

Okay, here is a stat for you. Following a loss, Campbelltown has an average crowd of 12,401 (36 games) compared to Leichhardt's average of 12,467 (32 games). However, following a win, Campbelltown has an average of 13,923 (17 games) compared to Leichhardt's average of 15,808 (20 games).

What can be drawn from this?
1\. Following a loss, there is bugger all difference between the crowds (0.5%).
2\. Following a win, Leichhardt does have a significantly higher average (13.5%).
3\. Leichhardt has had a bit more luck in the timing of its games.

Of course, this simple analysis doesn't take into account any other factors such as teams played, time of game or weather.

Quite honestly, i can't believe all the crap still going on in this joint venture. I was a Balmain supporter, didn't grow up in the area but it was in my bloodlines (bloody dad) . When Balmain merged with Wests, i was sorry that it was the end of Balmain and i wasn't sure how i would feel, but as soon as the team ran out for their first game i knew WESTS TIGERS was my team. Balmain for me is nothing but a distant memory. I couldn't care less whether this team i support is called Balmain, Wests, Maggies, Tigers, Tigpies….....i love them. They give me the highest of highs, the lowest of lows. As for where they play, i'd love for them to play a couple of games at Leichhardt, and the rest at a redeveloped Campbelltown.
I'd also like to see as many people as possible get to the games at Campbelltown and be vocal and intimidating to the opposition teams, and if that happens, i guarantee it will be the players preferred option. I've been to both grounds many times, and for some reason CSS just doesn't quite have the same atmosphere. It's up to us....the fans to get out there and create it!!!
