Thomas Talau

Talau is a good young player who’s 16 games into his career learning a new position. Give the kid time he has more talent than 90% of our squad. He’s not there yet and in my view has to go back to the wing outside an experienced centre. BJ played well enough today and if he can pull his head in it’s our best combination.

Talau is 2 years away but will be a borderline origin player.

I wouldn’t be in a rush to be BJ back into first grade. Apart from his laziness, he’s a liability if anything ever happens to his brother. Wouldn’t surprise if he came running in from the stands when he’s not in first grade

Worst part is BJ killing it in reserves (talau does not rip apart the parra reserve team like bj did) and mbye as a better option than talau really dumb by the club

He's hardly killing it. Still has a poor work ethic.

He murdered them today class above

Did what he had to and nothing more - doesn't go looking for the ball and isn't going to earn a recall with his work ethic at the moment.

Don't forget this is state cup you're talking about.

True, but my argument talau would not get those stats.

BJ back next week served his penance ..

Agree with that but yeah ... at present he presents very skinny showcase. Should really be in state cup for another season.

Wasn't really poor but didn't offer much at all.
Probably put BJ in his place instead next week.

No to BJ, don’t want to see him in first grade ever again. If everyone thinks Talau is not measuring up just remember what Leilua has served up in his time with us - he’s a useless liability.

I like Talau, but I thought he would’ve kicked on a bit more by now. He’s still young and learning the game, he will still come good I reckon, but when is anyone’s guess. Hopefully he won’t take as long as Brooks has!

So what do we do in the meantime? Maybe the Naden option isn’t a bad idea, he’s a decent centre with big game experience and this is what we need right now if we’re to compete with the good teams.

Talau has played 16 NRL games, Leilua is a seasoned first grade player who has represented his country and played in a NRL grand finals - I would expect him to get those sort of stats playing in the lower grades. Sadly when he’s in our top team he turns into a moron!

Agree. We have depth problems our backups out wide are young or inexperienced also.

As much as I think AJ/TT are struggling. Don’t know how much better BJ would be...yeah he has dominated in cup but how much better can an old lazy pea heart be. The guy didn’t even seem to care about being demoted. Would maybe look at Hoffman by years end or Kei if he can stay injury free. Cooper, Cini, Fitzgibbon other options but think they would struggle with the leap.

And BJ hasn't even dominated in cup. He did nothing last week.

Who was marking Opacic today? Made a fringe first grader look like Gasnier.

I believe Ashley Klein had that honour

LOL. Better call than Brandy had !

Naaaaaa not really. Did nothing but fall over the line and defend well, which he's always done.

I think he is a lo k in the making.

He has none of the desire or effort to be a lock.

He is a state cup player, at best.

The guy is young and a beneficiary of our lack of depth in the backs. But he is clearly an NRL level talent.

Disagree. Still doesn't go looking for the ball enough and wasn't tested defensively - and that's his problem.

and to think we probably could have gotten Addo Carr straight away with a direct Swap

Dogged a bullet 😃

Imagine we had him and Latrell!!!! Phew, could be so much worse.

You mustn’t have seen Fitzgibbon play in reggies today ... he’s a year off at best and will most probably lose his spot when Gebbe can play.
Cooper went all right with BJ setting up 2 tries for him.
Cini looks the goods though.

Cini is doing well in state cup. Must be close to a call up. He is an interesting player, not particularly fast but seems allusive and strong. Can’t see him offering any less than Talau or Kepao are at the moment.
