I can watch Liddle play and see he ***was ***lightening fast out of DH, has a passable passing game and below average defence. He has a naturally light frame that gives me not a lot of confidence that he can handle the defensive duties of an 80min hooker.

I can watch Liddle rehabbing yet again and wonder if he will ever be durable enough to survive in the NRL. For every Teddy or Benji recovering from multiple serious injuries and killing it, there is a Tim Moltzen.

Jury is a long way out on Liddle for many reasons.

As for passable passing game...…..that'll do me. Him and his passable passing game and below average defence will play Origin in the future.

You have compared Jacob Liddle to Robbie Farah & Cam Smith to make a case for durability? Robbie Farah played 303 NRL games plus origin and tests over 16 years. Smith has played 411 games and will go around again this year. These are two of the most durable players to ever play the game. Has played 36 games and is enduring at least his 3rd rehab from serious injury.

I have never seen anything out of the ordinary of his passing game. He passes well out of DH but Ive never seen him through a cut out or anything out of the box, I see his running game as his strength. kind of a Cook lite.

Dont get me wrong, I hope you are right. All Tigers fans ***hope*** Liddle makes it to the level we have all been hoping. The club has also obviously placed a LOT of capital on Liddle. The next 18months will tell the story.

It will be a big shame for us if this swap falls through. Besides losing the chance to have a quality dummy half/hooker step in to the squad, we are also according to all reports, playing Mbye at dummy half when I believe he is our best centre option (apart from BJ). My view is that neither Momo or Jennings are going to give us any strike and Talau is not yet ready for the rigours of weekly NRL. IMO this will weaken us, unless perhaps JR or Simpkins can step up and take this role on for us.

Disagree, I think Momo is our best second centre option. He may not be strike as you call it but he just scores tries (usually that no one else we have can).

I know few will agree with me (especially Avo) but Momo is a much better centre than Mbye - and he is getting better every game, Mbye isn't.

Momorovski is a good centre who is improving. He is no speedster but can score a try. He needs a fast winger outside of him and this will continue to be an issue until we have pace

Momo isn't a starter and depending on Talau's development is 4th in line

We need Grant at this stage far ,far more than we need Momo

It has eased slightly with Reynolds being able to play , but I don't see Reynolds as a long term solution to the hooker issue ....I can't see his shoulder let him make 30 + tackles every week with high tackle efficiency level

Momorovski is good bang for buck. Reynolds is finished and should have voluntarily removed himself to ESL with some subsidisation from WTs. Our recruitment failed to address our no 1 deficiency, a chronic lack of pace on the wings. What happened to the WTs with the blinding pace and evasion we used to possess?

my concern with liddle is he has been the future for so long and he has never gotten enough back to back games to validate his potential
the tigers have done him a solid sticking with him through multiple season ending injuries, the injuries will inevitably impact on his game currently and down the track. more injuries naturally lead to a shorter career.
even if he was potentially as good as cook, you need to weigh up if he will be around more than a few years. or do you cut your loses and jump on others with potential and see if they realise their potential?
we are at that crosroad with liddle, if we havent already passed it (i think we have)

I like many others think that we believe Simpkin is the future, but in saying that i dont think we should be looking at stop gap til round 16 (Mbye, JR or both). He's a talented kid he's not the messiah exposing him too early could be detrimental or he could rise to another level. This Grant trade benefits us as much as it does the Storm, i hope we can get it across the line but its looking unlikely now.

Absolutely, very hard to go deep into the finals without a specialist hooker. I really like our forward pack and I think Doueihi and Leilua improve our backline dramatically, but without a proper hooker we're going to struggle. Mbye will do his best but he's much better suited at centre.

Since Farah? He played in our last game (busted, he shouldnt have played).

Since Farah left the first time I meant. We didn’t have any good hookers until he came back. Now he’s gone again and we’re in the same boat.

I will be having a good look at Walters playing hooker in the trails matches (including the nines). I think that he very underrated. He passes fast and straight and is a very good tackler.

I like Liddle but there do seem to be real issues regarding his durability. Hope he comes good and realises his potential but if he cops another serious injury, hard to see him having a WT future beyond 2020

Thing with his latest injury is that it ripped all his ligaments, so a massive problem, but that said, I doubt any other player would come out of that incident without a major knee injury. Coincidentally, I sit here writing while convalescing from arthroscopic surgery yesterday to clean out/stimulate and repair my knee to put off a replacement for a little while.

Coincidentally, I sit here writing while convalescing from arthroscopic surgery yesterday to clean out/stimulate and repair my knee to put off a replacement for a little while.

Doesn’t matter how big And strong you are, when your knee gets bent like his did it’s gonna get torn to shreds. Would’ve done the same to any other player.

Simkins will become our starting hooker by the end of the year. We only need a stop gap until after round 16 when he becomes eligible. Liddle will be on the trade block for 2021.
