zzz NRL ARE A BLOODY JOKE. Take so long to decide they can’t decide. Couldn’t get a crap to stink! Unbelievable from a professional sporting body. Should be selling raffle tickets in a pub. Their incompetence and reactive governance is absolutely laughable. Where’s the broom?

I want this to happen as much as any Tigers fan, but to me the issue is pretty clear. Momo will put Storm over the cap. We would scream if it was Parra or Souffs

The bottom line is...if a club can release a player to another club and still pick up some of his contract, as is happening now with most clubs...surely that is no difference to us paying Momo and the Storm paying Grant.

Of course no one has actually come out and said what is the hurdle that is stopping the deal, so I guess it’s all speculation to than.

Anyway it is nearly at the point now to scrap it and concentrate on the coming season with the roster we have

I thought V'landy just got things done. Another prophet promising a new dawn for the game that turns out to be completely false.

Compared to AFL this is an amateur sport.

V'landys is the Chairman. He has zero control over the NRL on a day to day basis. he has some control over the NRL in a larger scale.i.e. He would have a large say in whether Greenbergs contract is renewed. That will be the first big test.

Disappointing that NRL can't sort this out.

Upsides, at worst, we keep Momo which is a plus, and we put MBye in at hooker and if he fails we give Walters and/or Simpkins a crack which could go well.
And, Storm are down a player they wanted for this year (Momo), which is another plus.

Storm on a huge decline.
Theyre gonna fizzle.

Cam and Craig walk away from a sinking ship.

Munster turns down captaincy gig.
Prob wants out.
Can see him heading to the dragons.

They’re still a top 4 side. They always will be with Bellamy.

Times are changing.

Bellamy won't be around forever.

If he can get them up there this year his a MIRACLE MAN

Hes a jerk.

Its not hard at all, Momo puts Storm over the cap. Its pretty simple and Im not sure why everyone cant work it out. I hate Greenberg and his inept reactionary management more than most, but this one seems pretty straightforward.

Thanks for speaking sense. There is nothing to suggest we have been unfairly treated in any way. The numbers don't work.

It will be a big shame for us if this swap falls through. Besides losing the chance to have a quality dummy half/hooker step in to the squad, we are also according to all reports, playing Mbye at dummy half when I believe he is our best centre option (apart from BJ). My view is that neither Momo or Jennings are going to give us any strike and Talau is not yet ready for the rigours of weekly NRL. IMO this will weaken us, unless perhaps JR or Simpkins can step up and take this role on for us.

Can't both clubs just release the guys and re-sign for next year?

Problem would remain. All that would change is who is paying the salary. Momo's salary would put Storm over the cap.

Surely that is just speculation at this stage because as far as i know nothing has been said from any official source

nothing official but that last report stated it was Storms cap stopping it....*and its logical and the obvious problem.* We can [This word has been automatically removed] and moan as much as we want because we didnt get what we want, but this is a pretty clear cut and obvious problem. Occams razor

Yes I agree it really causes some issues. Leilua/Mbye in the centres is our best pairing (imo), certainly the most dangerous.

Part of the problem is the storm just signed 5-6 nobody fringe players to their nrl squad. If they had held off a bit longer with at least one of those there would be no problem whatsoever. They only had 22 players a month ago, now they have 29.

**The swap will not put them over the cap. It will just reduce the amount they can spend on their 30th player. Which is apparently what they want to avoid.**

Seeing the 30th player doesn't have to be signed for another 6 months there may only be a few months of that salary that needs to be paid, and chances are someone else may be offloaded by then too.

I thought the problem was that the NRL deemed Momo to be more valuable (on a higher salary) then Grant putting the Storm over the cap.

I could be wrong though

In that case, we would not be waiting on the NRL, that would be the Storm stopping it.

Disagree, I think Momo is our best second centre option. He may not be strike as you call it but he just scores tries (usually that no one else we have can).

I know few will agree with me (especially Avo) but Momo is a much better centre than Mbye - and he is getting better every game, Mbye isn't.

And that seems to be the case, although nothing has been mentioned since Bellamy publicly mentioned frustration with the NRL adding obstacles.

There's nothing stopping the storm from approving the loan as it stands.

Maybe the Storm are pushing the boundaries trying to work things they way they want and are waiting on the nrl to tell them what they can and can't do. This is the most likely situation.

Yes your right but I am sure plenty of clubs would be marginally over the cap if another club was not picking up some of the freight on some of their contracts. Like when Moses M came to us.
I am no expert on the workings of the cap, but say in Moses M case the Dogs would still have a proportion coming off their cap and we would have the balance. Although I could be wrong in the way the NRL handle the cap in these situations

You could well be correct but if the report is correct it means that once again the NRL is leaking information to their tame media outlets

The whole argument that its the same as a club paying part of the contract is flawed. When a club signs a new player and his old club is going to pay part of his contract, then the difference is negotiated such that the difference between his salary that is going in his pocket and the amount of money his old club is paying, is what his new club is paying and what will count under the cap. it is negotiated so it works for both parties.

In the case of this swap, the extra that will be on Storms cap is the difference between Momo's and Grants salary and is not negotiable. If Momo is getting paid $100K more, that is how much extra that goes on the cap.

Momorovski is a good centre who is improving. He is no speedster but can score a try. He needs a fast winger outside of him and this will continue to be an issue until we have pace
