We still sleeping on momirovski?

Can find the line. And looks to be one of the only players in our side with any sort of pace (from last years squad anyway).

Dudes beating 4-5 guys to find the line in a majority of those tries. Scores a double in his debut in the finals for the roosters. Missed the sitter of a kick against the dogs but didn't kick stones and lose all confidence like Marsters, which I thought showed just how mentally tough and mature the bloke is. Kids a weapon.

The dude is beating 2-3 guys AT the line to score but in ever try someone has put him in space or beaten his opposite with a pass. Mono doesn’t beat one player in general play in that whole highlight reel. It’s a decent reel for a winger. That’s what he looks like there.

For mine a good first grade centre beats his Man in general play with pace or power. I’ve never seen him do that. He is worth a centre spot in first grade but he is our Shane Elford. Struck match between him and Mbye at centre for mine.

"Doesn't beat one player" - you need to go to spec savers.

Help me out mate, give me a time code on that video where he beats a player in general play (not at the line).

Oh right, you can't score tries unless you beat someone in open play. Beating 3 or 4 players on the line to get the ball down doesn't count.

I don't care if he never beats a player in open play - I'll just take all the tries he scores.

Guess Latrell Mitchell scores a lot of tries that don't count either.

BTW, how are you going with the time code for a moment in that video where he beats his man in open play?

Which one of us is off to specsavers?

You win Mate, I can't be bothered talking to someone who has a stubborn point of view.

"Stubborn point of view?". You were the one telling me to go to Specsavers if I couldnt see Momo beating players in general play in that video. I wouldnt call it stubborn, just correct and defending myself.

You can put Momo in your A grade team if you like - maybe he will beat his opposition centre there. That'll make you happy.

Momo is a pretty good player. I'd be happy to have him in first grade, even at centre. I think he is potentially the second best centre in the club, split hair with Mbye. Mbye is much better defender and much better passing game, as you say Momo can find the line. IMO Momo is todays Shane Elford.

Not sure why you have your nose out of joint.

At this point in time we need a specialist hooker for our spine rather than a decent first grade centre. I just hope Grant is as good as people say he is, remembering we won a comp with a very young Farah..

So the question is .....
Is a better 9 going to win us more games than a better kicker? This is unknowable, but intriguing.
Still, it may be a moot point .... it hasn't, and may not, happen.

Could simply be a different interpretation of "general play", which to me and likely @Russell, would cover most, if not all of Paul's tries. There is a 'set play' situation from a kickoff, line drop out, tap restart, penalty kick or scrum and possibly stretch it to include after stoppages due to an injury or similar.

I might be wrong, but reckon most would regard the rest of the game as being general play, regardless of the position on the field.

I get your point and "general play" might not be the right phrase to use. Of course what I meant was in that video Momo does a pretty good job of beating players at the line but there is no evidence he beats a player anywhere else on the field which I see as an important part of the job of a centre. Russell knew what I meant because he said he was happy for him not to beat a player in "general play" if he beats players at the line.

No brainer..a quality no9 is far more important than a 80% goal kicker. Last year Farah won us a few games with Masters kicking at about 50% and I think Grant is a superior no9 than the vetran Farah was last year

Quality hooker is more important than a goal kicker. Madge seemingly agreed with thah point too.

Fair enough, as I started skimming through that discussion as it progressed and your quoted post was the last in the thread at the time, so I took more notice.

Momirovski is not a very naturally gifted player, but for the limited number of opportunities that he converts when in a position to do so, for mine his thought process in anticipation of the opposition's reactions when in close quarters is an uncanny part of his game. That said, a decent nine to start the season is more important to me than what he can bring at this stage.

I'm a massive fan of Momo, but see the value in bringing Grant over for 2020.

Speaking of Momo, any news on his re-signing, seems to be taking a while?

I have seen Momo beat his opposition centre on at least two occasions when he was playing centre. Not saying he is great at it. He is still young and that part of his game needs improvement.

It is not the be all and end all if he can get the ball near the line and score. Plenty of centres can't do that either.

It’s taking a while because they’re wanting to figure out if he’s getting sent to Melbourne or not before extending him is my guess
