Tigers and Storm Player Loan Swap

Part of the carrot for Momo to be part of the deal was a contract extension beyond 2020. Similar to whenFulton went to EPL for a season to solve a salary cap problem, he did that because they extended his contract.

Okay the final details may not be sorted but he will get a healthy contract extension for 2021 and beyond. A very smart move but all parties in this deal. Also as someone else posted, if he is a big success down South a deal may be brokered for a JAC swap in 2021.

Such a smart move by the club I struggle to fathom how they even thought of it haha very nice move by both clubs and 2 young stars gain lots of experience out of it

I really like this move. It helps out both clubs in the short term without any 'bad blood' lingering in the longer term. It would be very interesting to know whose 'brain child' this was. With his experience of it in the Super League, I would think probably Maguire came up with the plan.
Good on both clubs for their proactive engagement in the process.
Let's just put to bed now how shabbily run this club is. It may have been in the past, few could argue, but it looks a lot healthier now - from the 'back office' right through to corporate sponsorship, the COE, and of course, recruitment.
Well done to all.

When I saw the possibility that this "deal" was going ahead my first thought was who is going to be our goal kicker, as Momirovski was pretty good last season- who else could take on that very important role:astonished:

Doueihi will kick I would think with Mbye back up.

Marshall has leg problems.

Ok thanks Russell, I wasn't aware that Doueihi could take on that role. Other than that I am pretty happy with the recruitment and direction the club has taken- I have finally renewed my membership for 2020:smile_cat:

think by the close of business on Monday we should have an official announcement. the dimwits at the NRL don't take too well to innovation so it's probably why it's taking so long

Surprised no ones played the ‘’NRL will reject it cos it’s us” card.

If a player swap of this kind has never happened in NRL then I'm guessing they are busily drawing up the framework which would allow this swap and others to proceed?

This shows how reactive the NRL is. Player loans have been spoken about for the last few years and apart from soccer, they are also commonplace in superleague.

The NRL should have come up with a framework before it was required instead of waiting for clubs and players to be willing to enter into a loan deal, and then come up with the framework on the run.

Which leg ?

Didnt we & storm have to release both players from their contracts and resign them again if that makes sense. HG released from storm we sign for one season and Storm resign him from 21 and beyond. We release Momo melb sign him for this season and we nut out a deal for him for 21 to whenever if we and him agreed.

No, both players will continue to be contracted to their respective clubs, Tigers will continue to pay Momo and count towards our cap and the Storm will continue to pay Grant and count towards their cap.

His goal kicking leg.

Seriously - its not wanting to strain hamstrings etc.

Considering this swap deal has an obvious benefit for all parties involved. I’m wondering if the NRL will need to make this a mandatory feature of all future deals ?
I’m not suggesting that a club would purposely enter into an agreement to advantage another club.

Giving my love to both parties on this deal again. Can't wait to see Grant in the NRL. Been waiting for him to get a crack at the Storm. The fact he's gonna be doing it for us is salivating.
