Eels apparently applied for funding to build more female change rooms at Bankwest- something about catering for the needs of new recruits.

Liddle will be back mid year and he's the second best dummy half in the comp. Reynolds will be a quality fill in until his return. Mbye will be a fine captain of Wests Magpies in the Canterbury Cup.

Besides losing the chance to have a quality dummy half/hooker step in to the squad, we are also according to all reports, playing Mbye at dummy half when I believe he is our best centre option (apart from BJ). My view is that neither Momo or Jennings are going to give us any strike and Talau is not yet ready for the rigours of weekly NRL. IMO this will weaken us, unless perhaps JR or Simpkins can step up and take this role on for us.
Disagree, I think Momo is our best second centre option. He may not be strike as you call it but he just scores tries (usually that no one else we have can).
I know few will agree with me (especially Avo) but Momo is a much better centre than Mbye - and he is getting better every game, Mbye isn't.

Momorovski is a good centre who is improving. He is no speedster but can score a try. He needs a fast winger outside of him and this will continue to be an issue until we have pace

Compared to AFL this is an amateur sport.
I have a colleague at work who is a mad AFL supporter. Every time we chat I walk away convinced NRL is amateur hour compared to AFL
That's because your mate is a blind AFL cheerleader who doesn't pay attention to their own mistakes and shortcomings.
AFL concussion protocols? After NRL
Specific indigenous recognition and indigenous matches? After NRL and no
Governing body statements regarding inclusiveness and pro-rights performances at Grand Finals? After NRL and no
Women's round? After NRL
Successful inter-state series? No
Successful expansion franchies? 50/50
Lack of drink driving and drug infringements of players? No
Lack of off-field scandal? No
First club to be busted for performance enhancers? AFL
Lack of salary cap breaches? No
Increasing TV performance of key matches? No
Thing about AFL is that it is so quasi-religious down South, that they get away with a lot less scrutiny and a lot more blind following. There's a public holiday in Melbourne specifically for the Grand Final! That would never officially wash in Sydney. Folks there will attend AFL matches regardless, it's just part of what they do, like how Kiwis play rugby. AFL and Rugby are, IMO, inferior games and viewing spectacles, but it's part of their culture and they don't know any differently.
Sport in Sydney is different, there's always been more even competition for fans - even just including the rugby and league schism that does not have any power in Melbourne at all. Sydney fans are more cynical, less indoctrinated, less tribal. Rugby League is not on a pedestal, it has always been a working-man's game since its inception, always battling against the upper classes, always looking for relevance and prestige, always full of in-fighting and passion and strain. League in England is the same, that's its roots.
Furthermore, as of 2016 63.3% of Melbournians are Australian born, whereas 57.1% for Sydney, so almost half of all Sydney-sides were born overseas. Larger immigration intake usually means smaller and slower adoption of local sporting culture.
It's not to say that AFL didn't make good decisions, but AFL didn't have to spend so much time and money healing the Super League war, which was as much about media power-mongering as actual in-fighting by rugby league factions. The NRL is the son of two major sport schisms (from rugby then Super League), the effects which are still felt within the game today.
So on the back of greater stability, superior in-game crowds and a much earlier and higher adoption of club memberships, AFL has had more money over several decades to spend. That is the major difference between the codes; it's not some sort of mad professional operational difference, with geniuses at AFL and dopes at NRL, it's just longer-term ability to burn money whilst trying to expand their code.
So people who talk up AFL governance are the same idiots who talk up coffee in Melbourne being superior to anywhere else, or pretending there aren't bioorganic wines or microbreweries outside of Victoria.

Apparently Robbo their coach really rates Momo and the swap would be for one of their upcoming hookers. No idea if they've got anyone we'd want but they desperately need a centre for this year to replace Mitchell and looks like they won't be getting the other Morris from Cronulla.

Its not hard at all, Momo puts Storm over the cap. Its pretty simple and Im not sure why everyone cant work it out. I hate Greenberg and his inept reactionary management more than most, but this one seems pretty straightforward.

Gee they must be paying overs as currently have 29 contracted players 9 off which have haven't played FG or a couple of games only
So they still have to make one more signing like us..so swapping out Momirovski for Grant puts them over and a player short wow..

Or it puts them within less than minimum wage of the cap.

Great post. The Super League war set rugby league (not just the NRL) back 20 years. We are only just starting to recover from the repercussions of that fight.
