Tigers and Storm Player Loan Swap

I feel like the only thing stopping the usual “woah is us, the NRL hates us” is that this is also affecting the Storm, one of the clubs the NRL loves and turns a blind eye to. More mixed emotions than watching your mother in law drive off the side of a cliff in your new car.

I f you watch Liddle play and can't see what a talent he is you should find another sport to support.

He could be a mix of Cam Smith, Farah, Ben Elias, Steve Walters and Danny Buderus, if his body can handle it, he’s not worth 20 bucks. He wouldn’t be the first player who oozed talent but was let down by his body. Players like that are a dime a dozen.

Love the faith in a guy that has not played any NRL. Michael Lichaa was a champion at 18 as well.

Jake Simpkin certainly has talent but let’s not label him the future of the club just yet. Haven’t we learned from Brooks how much that can affect a player 😂

Another brilliant show of proactiveness and forward-thinking by Greenturd and co. Players and fans have been screaming for transfer windows, expansion and better contracting systems, yet every year the NRL use Murdoch's rags to push propaganda as to why none of them will work. Seriously, these guys are ruining the game.

Pretty sure the players union said no as well. As they have done for a few years. Hopefully this is. A moment in time that changes a few things. (Punctuation fail. Can’t be bothered)

Yet you explained it using bracketed text

Liddle has to go not durable or tough enough.
Simpkin likely the future for us i cant see Liddle making it back

How can you say someone who has already at 23 come back from 2 shoulder reco’s , and now every ligament in his knee, not tough enough ? Have you ever had an injury that’s taken you out for like a year ? Absolutely messes with you in ways , that can really break you. Tough isn’t, not breaking or not having fear mate , it’s being scared and still going through with something.

This could really open the game up. Loan deals are in place in football on the regular and allow promising kids stuck behind talented established players to learn their trade elsewhere which benefits the kid, the club they are loaned to, and the club they are loaned from.

Agree with your sentiments. He's tough, but he's certainly injury prone and has been pretty badly busted up for his age.

I don't feel the woah is us, I think it's more a case of the NRL is too incompetent to sort this out. They are not even communicating with the public what the hold up is, which makes them look even more useless.

Definitely . His body is struggling with the step up

Broken maybe, not defeated ?

Liddle isn't 80 years old, and it isn't touch and go whether he'll play again. He's being treated and from reports should make a full recovery. Physically maybe not the fastest developing player but he does need some consistent time in first grade after some back luck with injury. The latest and most serious injury almost 100% bad luck, nothing to do with his body's ability to withstand injury.

I'd be moving Liddle on. Both WT and Liddle need a change of scenery and club / player. Yes, he has great potential but his string if injuries, especially now he is / was considered our main hooker just places the club in an impossible situation. We have a probable replacement with a year or so experience needed in Simpkins but make dos now. We should have signed Issac Luke for this year to cover us. Yes if course with our typical luck we extend Liddle just before he goes down again with long term injury and I know contract would have to be sorted but I don't think at this stage NRL HQ will permit the swap with Grant from Storm. So, were stuck and a good chance of writing off half a season with bad results until Liddle / Simpkin can take over at 9.

https://www.nrl.com/news/2020/02/15/tigers-prepare-momirovski-extension-as-swap-d-day-looms/

Wests Tigers are preparing a two-year extension offer for Paul Momirovski regardless of whether the proposed swap deal with Melbourne's Harry Grant comes off.

Tigers coach Michael Maguire has stressed more than once to his young centre that he remains a part of his long-term plans as both clubs await a definitive call on the player trade from the NRL.

NRL.com understands a miscalculation with the Storm's salary cap sits at the crux of the hold-up.

The landmark swap deal would result in Momirovski and Grant trading places for the 2020 season before returning to their original clubs, adding much-needed depth for the respective teams in key positions.

Momirovski and Grant have been kept in limbo awaiting NRL approval for the swap, and have been prepared to swap cities for the past two weeks.

The Tigers and Momirovski have been committed to extending the 23-year-old throughout negotiations with Melbourne.

Grant is already signed up with the Storm until the end of 2022.

Momirovski sent a scare through both camps on day one of the NRL Nines when he left Perth’s HBF Park in a moon boot due to an ankle injury.

But the Tigers indicated Momirovski was able to put weight on his leg and was confident the injury is not overly serious.

While still hopeful of getting the swap deal done, the Tigers need clarity given it will dictate where skipper Moses Mbye plays.

Mbye has spent parts of the summer training at hooker, but if Grant were to arrive it would see the Melbourne rake join Josh Reynolds as options at No.9 and Mbye play out wide.

If Momirovski stays Mbye may yet find himself at dummy-half.

Latest report is its not NRL its Melbourne. They were the incompetent ones and couldn't add up the cap properly and apparently will be 15k over if the deal went ahead - NRL rules won't allow that.

The Momorovski trade deal falling through is the BEST result for the club .He has a rare quality of being able to sniff out a try. Liddle will be back mid year and he's the second best dummy half in the comp. Reynolds will be a quality fill in until his return. Mbye will be a fine captain of Wests Magpies in the Canterbury Cup.

liddle is trash
we need a specialist hooker for the whole season
we have abundance in centre and kickers that will suffice
we cant just dictate who other clubs can take, they need to be gaining from it also

He's definitely not trash.
Hes just injury prone.

Surely Melbourne can figure out a way to find that extra $15k and the swap can go ahead.

Not a matter of finding it. Its a matter of getting rid of it.

It could still happen. NRL cooking it tho?
