I find it hard to believe this. The Storm must have given them the wrong set of books.

The Storm could easily correct that oversight by throwing in JAC as well. So Marty Johns sees Harry as a future rep player? He must be good. Be handy to have a hooker like that when we’re playing finals.

Storm should conditionally release Grant from his contract effective immediately.

Conditions being:

1) He can only sign a 1 year deal for 2020 with WT.
2) Storm have the last right/offer on his contract for 2021+

We can fit both Grant and Momo in our 2020 cap

Storm could ask us to do similar with Momo, i have a feeling this will happen once the $15 k has been and gone. The piece with Grant yesterday in the herald probably wouldnt sit well with the storm, unless they know its still bubbling behind the scenes. It could be seen as though the NRL are affecting the mental well being of two players, which could also be a reason for Grant to speak out.

As far as I could tell this was the original plan right? Both guys were having their contracts cancelled, signing a one year deal with the other club then signing back on for 2021 and 2022 with their original clubs

Only reason it didn’t work is because Storm didn’t have the salary cap for it, that’s why Grant wants to come to us without Momirovski being sent to storm

if that's the case, to make this work all Momo had to do was take $15k less this year and add that to his next Tigers deal.

He’s on close to minimum wage this year, taking $15k off him for this year would be a big loss for him. I could understand why he might not want to do that.

I thought the nrl was quite clear about the contracts remaining the same, not similar, exactly the same?
Therefore if they aren’t the same then of course they would be rejected. imo

Yeah you’re right actually, I remember reading the contracts would have to stay at the same value

If the NRL refuse to budge on their irrational Salary cap stance my tip is he will be granted a release and Tigers will snap him up. Why would the Storm not let the kid go when they know he won’t play NRL there this year. Harry wants out and is desperate to become a tiger ASAP

Momirovski reminds me of a centre I first saw play in the Illawarra juniors. My mate pointed this player out and said he will go on to make a name for himself. I watched him and he wasn't the biggest or the fastest but he could defend well, hit a gap, set up his winger and kick goals. It was Ryan Girdler and he was a player who made the most of his talent. I believe Momirovski can be a similar player especially if he can be paired with a quick winger outside of him.

Harry Grant sounds like he wants to come here. Make it happen Pascoe, last goal that needs to be kicked before the season starts.

He’ll have retired by then!

And they will loose Simpkin or Liddle if grant signs

Simpkin is a while away
Liddle I wouldn’t lose sleep over if we had Grant & Simpkin in the ranks.

Random thought but given it's a one year loan deal I wonder if any creative salary cap trickster could make this work under the guise of a living away from home allowance
I doubt we have one of those tricksters in our back office given the salary cap challenges we've faced over the years, but I'm sure the Storm could chat to those that presided over all of the shenanigans that went on there previously

I think we’ll be there in 2021.?

Why if they want this to happen can't Mono take a $16k pay cut this year I'm sure WT'S could make it up to him with a new and improved contract for 2021 onwards then we will be in a better position to how LIDDLE performs in 2020 if no good and Grant really wants to be a WT and he proves his worth make him an offer to good to go back to Storm because you can bet your life other clubs will be watching and ready to jump in

I'm sure this is one reason why the NRL have said no...

BS. Storm don’t want it done unless there’s *clear* benefit to them... bellyache really wants Momi and Madge is keeping our cards very close to his chest. Love the unusual approach from our organisation + seeing the NRL flounder a little more now that we’re not an easy target

FTR, think we need Paul this year esp

I have read a lot of this thread with its positives and negatives...and in my opinion I think the player swap has merit and would be great for rugby league...
After reading and hearing over the years about rorts, brown bags, tpas etc...Im sure the NRL and the administators could come up with a positive solution to make this swap happen for the greater of rugby league itself and show that their not afraid of taking on a hard task..

Only issue is that we wouldn’t get Grant until after round 1 but everything else sounds good for me. Fingers crossed they do let him play with us for this season because we will need him.

Even a chance we could keep him permanently if Cameron Smith plays on in 2021.

lol So for this to happen now it seems they will need to use a loophole to make a mockery of a system put in place where Clubs need to have 29 contracted players at Round 1 ...yet Round 1 + 1 day you can do it...

Well done NRL...outstanding..
