Tigers announce new signings/ re-signing

As much as it helps to have depth it would be nice to read that we actually signed a proven player than 3 reserve grade props.

Holy crap. These are amazing! I can't believe we got them both. McConnachie hits like an absolute train and Griffin is just tireless.

These guys are such hard workers and real hard men. They are going to really add a lot to our side. I am over the moon about both signings.

Both are perfect for the decreased interchange too. And both were being chased by a lot of clubs.

Rod Griffin is a great pick up , watched a fair bit of this guy in the intrust Cup this year and he goes great guns with a great work rate .
Hopefully he kills it , that's put a smile on the dial.

And here you were tut-tutting just yesterday….

As far as signings go these 2 blokes looking for a shot at NRL are good ones...mature aged guys who run the ball hard and tackle hard who were amongst the best players that won the QLD comp and State Challenge...they are better than our normal go-lo bargin bin purchases...good recruits...

McConnachie to me has a Taupau feel about it...may not have long to wait for a new affair/avatar after all...

Your a classic .

I haven't seen a great deal of McConnachie play but i have seen Griffin play a fair bit and could be a great pick up.
Geo there is a big difference in a proven NRL player and an unproven one.
As far as what we can supposedly afford I am more than happy with Griffin, whether he makes the impact in the NRL is a different matter.
There is no doubt they will be hungry to impress and earn themselves a deal longer than there 1 year deals.

I wish them both the best of luck.

How good would it be to see his offload to a flying Tedesco

Solid signings and bargain price so let's hope they rip in for a big off season and get a crack at first grade.

Are some of you kidding? These are 3 fantastic signings given our issues with the cap! We sign the best forwards outside the nrl abs some of you are unhappy? You really think we're going to be signing warea hargreaves or klemmer?!
Mcconachie a big aggressive prop who was man of the match in the grand final. Griffin a powerful work horse and former best and fairest Balmain junior.
Would you prefer we have signed experienced players like moi moi and mason looking for one last pay cheque on old legs? These guys aren't kids either. They're battle hardened in reserve grade against grown men and about ready to wrestle a wolf for a shot on the nrl!
Worst comes to worst all three play solidly in nsw cup.

Did somebody wash your undies in hot water?

Hard to argue with that. Probably money well spent considering the limited funds that we have.

Really happy with these guys, just a little worried about Griffins ball retention. I have seen him throw some ordinary offloads in his own half of the field. Really pleased with both new guys. Billy looks like a Mark Geyer like enforcer that can intimidate opposition packs.

I expect most of our signings to be playing First Grade bar Carr and the guy from Rugby.

I think this means we loose Tapau, but Billy is a similar sort of player and can punch out more minutes. I figure we have likely used Marty's money to afford this.

Good article about Madness (Billy Mc) here. He won the players player award for the season as well as man of the match in the QLD Cup grand final.

Also was selected for Scotland for thier off season tests although given his 2 game suspension he may not go over for the 3 tests.

I think they are both really good signings with both giving utility forward value and being the props for the best team outside the NRL says a lot about them esp given both won awards for the club last year and as many mentioned are not kids so have had experience playing against men.

Will probably run out in NSW Cup but will add great depth to our squad and with Rod Reddy and Paul Stringer helping them out will be great for the development as forwards

Welcome. Great to see players wanting their last chance at an NRL dream. Maybe with the change with the interchange rules next year we will benefit from their big motors.

Also both players come from winner cultures so not a bad thing.

Sad to see Marty go but we do not want to keep on paying over for players year in year out which got us into this mess in the first place. Also Marty does not have the biggest motor on him but gee a love his passion and appears leader of the Bros.

Now lets sort out the Farah saga so it does not hang over the pre season and into 2016\. Remember no individual is bigger than the club, even Farah.

Both have good motors, but are not Props at NRL Level.

I see them both as Backrowers at this level.

I like these types of signings. They don't break the bank and may perform above expectations. Players like Blair cost a lot and often under perform.

Neither in my opinion are quick enough to play back row or could cope laterally at NRL level in the back row

Griffin looked quick scooting around the fullback in the footage.

However I can't get excited about signing a 28 year old who still hasn't played NRL. Will be surprised if he secures a top 17 spot.
