This is a great listen so far. An in depth description of someone who has dealt with the big wigs at the club. I’m half hour in and it’s pretty damming

Correct the problem is wests asfield.

They say our players are happy to br nrl players.

Our board and ceo are happy just to be working for a nrl club.

Winning is irrelevant.

Critism on negotiation is on point.

If we lose Stefano to the bloody slime that we signed him from, I am done.

Legit question. What’s keeping him here?

Madge

As if ? Madge had him in and out of first grade for no reason and the only reason he kept starting is because people were in his ear all origin camp about how shit of a coach he is.

You mean he was bringing him into first grade in a controlled manner to ensure his successful development.

Yeah worked out great for Pauga, Cini, Hoffmann, Simpkin, Simpkins etc

You can’t just throw the young blokes straight into first grade and leave them there. You do that and most will burn out in a few weeks, and never reach their potential. They need to be managed into first grade. Like it or not Madge is taking care of the young blokes giving them the best chance for developing into long term first graders and having a long careers.

I don’t buy that. If you’re good enough you’re old enough. Which has been shown with numerous rookies this season. You could argue it’s easier for someone like a Sam Walker because of the experienced squad he walked into but a vast majority of rookies came in, did a job and kept there spot in other bottom 8 teams. Those 2 bulldogs Schoup and Biondi odo reaped the benefits of consistent footy. Schoup missed almost 10 tackles one game and retained his spot. Cini on the other hand had one good game and one poor one and didn’t see first grade again for months. This whole Madge promotes youth thing is an absolute cop out.

The "good enough old enough" chestnut might hold true with the standout juniors.
The run of the mill players need to be treated very differently.

Let's hope the review also makes it clear that there is no room for Curtis Scott or Adam Elliott at this club.

Why is a review not standard process? Surely even some of the clubs that make finals or even win the comp still have a review. If it is standard why is it such a big deal?

Probably best to ask the bloke that leaks everything to Chammas.

Our development went out the window yers ago it’s the major issue today. Takes a long time to fix pathways. With Covid any progress is delayed as they are not playing.

Whilst Benny Elias probably has too much of a chequered history to be trusted with the club, a change of ownership or bringing in private investors would do a huge amount for this club. If that’s out of the question (not sure why Wests wouldn’t consider meaningful external ownership/capital if it was the right partner) then a board west that is voted on by members ever 3 years would be a good way of bringing a fresh voice to the board whilst maintaining the Wests dominance

I really am not interested in private ownership, in the Australian context is not viable and results in you surviving on the whim of a wealthy benefactor.

The best clubs generally have private ownership as part of their model. Panthers, Eels and Knights are basically supported by a single massive professional club which is analogous to a private ownership model

1. Storm (yes)
2. Panthers (no)
3. Rabbits (yes)
4. Sea Eagles (yes)
5 roosters (yes)
6. Eels (no)
7. Knights (no)
8. Titans (yes)

Roosters are not privately owned.

Every Club ..Even Premiership winning Clubs do a review..

The difference is they don't generate clicks...

I have no problem with a coach resting a guy in his 1st full season of NRL level footy.

Technically I guess that’s true but doesn’t Politis bankroll the club and is their chairman? Essentially he is gifting the club equity by covering their costs and in return he is chairman

They'd generate their own income I reckon. They'd have plenty of corporate support, leagues club support. Even they supporter base isn't too bad.

Ummmmmm, long term major sponsor (City Ford) and Chairman. Sound familiar? No longer sponsoring the Club

Politis and co have set the Roosters up for life in terms of their finances - https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/roosters-chairman-nick-politis-preparing-500m-parting-gift-for-his-club-20180927-p5068k.html

*On his watch, the Roosters have snapped up Waverley Bowling Club, Berkeley Sports, Kingswood Sports Club and Woy Woy Leagues. They also plan to turn North Bondi Golf and Diggers Club into a multi-purpose sports centre.

The centrepiece is a redeveloped Easts Leagues in Bondi Junction. The club has snapped up most of the property on the L-shaped block on the corner of Spring Street and Bronte Road with a long-term plan to turn it into a lucrative high-rise development.

Politis knows his club can’t survive on poker machine revenue forever and wants to leave it in safe hands for the next custodians of the club.

“That should be any chairman's objective,” he said. “At the moment, our commercial property is valued at $120m and we have no debt. Next year, we will have $10m in cash in the bank. We’re in a very good position financially.”*

Did you read the article?

Politis didnt pay for any of it, the Club bought all of that property out of its own money. Politis is guiding it but not paying for it. He is a good Chairman, but doesnt own the Roosters.

Im working on the Waverley Bowlo project.

EDIT: All of these properties are owned by Easts Group (Leagues Club) not the RL club

Woy Woy leagues club...
Bet that goes off.

Really stamping ownership on the central coast like I said we should have done years ago.
