The cynic in me suggests that you are correct

Can someone confirm this for me

If Madge is sacked he only gets 400 k per season for the 2 seasons he misses ......

That is the agreement he has with the club ...true or untrue ????

I find that highly unlikely to be true.

At the time Madge re-signed the commentary included a side-note that WT had setup the contract very cleverly so if Madge did get punted down the track we would only have to pay a small fraction of his contract. A sign of mutual respect that Madge appreciated the contract extension that he hadn't really earned and that if results still didn't go his way he wouldn't financially penalise the club from trying to back him as much as possible.

800k would be paying out almost his entire contract in full. So yeah 800k sounds like lazy 'journos' plucking a number out of the air rather than commentary from any of the better-informed and connected people out there.

The review is most likely over, the review of the review may be ongoing for a while. Most staff will be on holidays soon so if not already so it's not as though player feedback will be an ongoing process.

The only other part of a review that could continue is a review of the management team (ie SHeens looking at Hartigan, Pascoe etc)

Politis and co have set the Roosters up for life in terms of their finances - https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/roosters-chairman-nick-politis-preparing-500m-parting-gift-for-his-club-20180927-p5068k.html

*On his watch, the Roosters have snapped up Waverley Bowling Club, Berkeley Sports, Kingswood Sports Club and Woy Woy Leagues. They also plan to turn North Bondi Golf and Diggers Club into a multi-purpose sports centre.

The centrepiece is a redeveloped Easts Leagues in Bondi Junction. The club has snapped up most of the property on the L-shaped block on the corner of Spring Street and Bronte Road with a long-term plan to turn it into a lucrative high-rise development.

Politis knows his club can’t survive on poker machine revenue forever and wants to leave it in safe hands for the next custodians of the club.

“That should be any chairman's objective,” he said. “At the moment, our commercial property is valued at $120m and we have no debt. Next year, we will have $10m in cash in the bank. We’re in a very good position financially.”*

Did you read the article?

Politis didnt pay for any of it, the Club bought all of that property out of its own money. Politis is guiding it but not paying for it. He is a good Chairman, but doesnt own the Roosters.

Im working on the Waverley Bowlo project.

EDIT: All of these properties are owned by Easts Group (Leagues Club) not the RL club

Sorry - I didn't mean to suggest he bought the land/property for them. My point was that his (and others) guidance had been a huge benefit to the club/group, and that they were in an incredibly strong and self-sufficient position as a result.

Why is a review not standard process? Surely even some of the clubs that make finals or even win the comp still have a review. If it is standard why is it such a big deal?

Every Club ..Even Premiership winning Clubs do a review..

The difference is they don't generate clicks...

Clubs might do internal reviews every year, maybe it is standard practice. The difference is, other clubs don’t have their moron Chairman go on radio every week during said review and give updates on how it’s going. Are the Dragons doing a review atm, are the Cowboys? If they are, they aren’t out there making it public. So why are we?

Time is narrowing. Nrl teams are already declaring their departing players. Let's just keep dawdling along and miss out on potential signatures whilst WT do nothing. As usual it will be the bargain basement dregs we are left to choose from. Pull your fingers out WT you should know by now whether Maguire has done enough. Decide quickly and let us get on trying to recruit some experienced players.

Sounding like some comedy skit now.

Looks likey are waiting for a couple of coaches to finish their finaks campaign before they make a call to keep Madge.

And I didn’t mean to seem jumping all over for it. The initial East’s/politis reference was from another couple of posters stating Roosters are privately owned (by Politis) and I pointed out that they are not.

I am pointing out that Politis is not an owner. At the most he was a major sponsor who is also a chairman. The fact that people are praising the Roosters set up but bagging Lee is sweet irony.

I wouldn't say clearly. He doesn't want to be involved in the media circus that follows our every move until his current season is finished. When you're gunning for a premiership then fair enough.

Of course if he had zero interest he could just say so. If we want him i'm sure we've spoken with his manager already to gauge his level of interest. If he had zero interest i'm sure we'd move on quickly. If he does have some interest then the future of our head coach may be undetermined for a few weeks yet.

Only 16 jobs potentially available. You can bet that like most assistant coaches with ambition, he'll be interested!
